Ravenclaw Seer yes! My Gwen, who recently passed away, was 15 years old, and people still asked if she was a puppy when we took her for walks. She was the smaller beagle size though, so that could be why.
In my experience, all Beagles are the same...They are very food motivated...I've had 5 and every one of them had their humans trained just the way they wanted them... ^_^
Lol, no "Hound" refers to a certain group of dogs that hunt and chase by scent. Beagles are considered to be small hounds...and such an adorable little guy like Oliver could never remotely be considered eeevil. No little guy with such a cute little black nose could be evil...it is metaphysically impossible...I reject it categorically.
@@manuell3505, that's not the use that's applicable here, but yes, sometimes hound can be used to refer to a dog-like monster in mythology or fantasy. It's a less familiar or more old-fashioned term for a dog. But in dog breeds, it refers to the dogs with keen senses historically used for searching. Beagles were bred from the larger foxhound, who were used for finding foxes and other medium-sized animals.
I'm Dutch, didn't know. "Hond" is dog in Dutch. At very young age we had a stabyhoun, most literally "stand with dog", what they do. We have no word for a hound like the Hound of the Baskervilles, though. I always thought it was a wolf :)
I have a beagle also (first I've ever had) and he's so different than any other dog in my entire life! I've never met a more stubborn, nose-led, food-driven, curious, talkative dog! I watch this channel and for almost every video it makes me feel like "Oh, thank goodness, Beau Bear isn't a naughty boy...he's just a beagle!" lol! Will definitely have to try this game with the B-man to let him use his sniffer!
I miss my beagle. We had him put down a few months ago. It's been very quiet without him. I love seeing Oliver in his prime. The next 14 years of your life are going to be precious!
I lost my beagle of 18 years, this year, had him since he was 7 weeks old. Thanks for sharing this. - I miss him everyday. Enjoy your time with Oliver while you still can. Beagles are the best dogs, hands down.
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My dog is only half Beagle but after growing up with dogs, and having one of my own before, she is the first (even only being half) Beagle in my life. One day I might get a purebred Beagle because they're awesome. I know it's not going to make you feel better, but 18 was a great age for your dog
I was holding my breath when you put the treat by the TV.... when we were training Blue to 'go search' one day I did the same thing, in almost the exact same spot. She zeroed in on it and of course was totally excited, put her paws on the table's edge and stood up to get the treat she just located, the edge of her muzzle caught the very edge of the tv and it startled her and she flung her head up and the TV went flying across the table and hit the floor in an impressive display of shattered glass. Then I was frantically trying to make sure she did not have glass on her and not stepping in it - that probably set "go search" training back a bit - for a long time after that every time I did "go search" she looked at me like "you really want a repeat of last time??!!"
I did feel very bad. I think it was just one of those totally random things that could not be repeated as she was just the right size at that time to come in at just the right angle and caught the TV at just the right place that physics just did it thing. That TV has been there rock solid even through an earthquake and never moved so I was shocked when a not quite full grown terrier was able to nose flip it 5 feet. My husband spent 2 hours playing with the remains of the TV trying to figure out how it even happened. It's made me very conscious after that of where I did hide things. Of course, when teaching them to search you want them to nose into small spaces but the last thing I wanted was to have something happen that made her nervous about doing so. Dogs are amazing and no one can tell me that teh 'only live for today' always applied and they don't remember things that happened long ago. It took a couple weeks after that of coaxing here to really search and not back off when she needed to stick her muzzle into a small space and even now, 18 months later, when told to search a place she needs to poke her nose into she will do that over the shoulder double looks dogs give you to determine whether I really mean for her to stick her nose in or not. Either that or she is still milking it because she was initially getting extra treats for doing so so she would get over the incident. She is pretty good at using everything she knows to get an extra treat :)
was the greatest joy for me to let my Beagle off his leash ... but boy, if he got a scent he was off. You dont take a Beagle on a walk, you go on adventures with it
Oliver has the beagle touch. I used to do the same with my beagle. I would even hide treats in the couch cushions and my girl would find them every time.🐶💖👍
ALERT is certainly the word for Oliver, he' so smart and attentive. It's wonderful to see his inquisitive, sensitive little face. Love him, and yr interaction, Please more soon x x
My non-hound dog really enjoyed it when I threw a stick into the Golden Gate Park woods, which were completely covered in various bits of branches. She would go out to the area where the stick should be and sniff back and forth in about a ten foot wide pattern until she found the right one - the one I had touched. No other stick would do. Found it! Yay! This is probably not at all unusual in dogdom.
I love watching Oliver no matter what he does. My favorite part of him is his ears.I could watch him all day and I mostly do..I like it when he listens to your commands of hold it hold it,then OK go get it.I love you oliver
Oliver.is cute big amazing eyes & nose. He very smart boy. Pls. Love & care. Oliver I hope Oliver has a good life with pawrent.. God bless you guys.. OLIVER GOOD LUCK BABY. I. love you..
You wave your hand up and say sit. The absolute wrong hand movement. What I really like is that you play these games with him cuz this is a very good exercise for a dog's brain. Nicely done, Sir.
Oliver should be named Sherlock Holmes, even though I can see a little bit of a routine hiding places situation going on. Poor dog, he has to work for those treats soooo hard. Thumbs up.
I am begging my wife for a Beagle. I told her Oliver is my new friend. His owner seems like a very nice man. His voice is very soothing. But you know Sir Oliver SOOO Really ROCKS!!!! God Bless you keep on making cool videos about my little buddy Oliver, he’s so, so cool.
You are such a good owner... I hope you don't mind that I borrow this game. Beagles are hard to train because of their scent-driven nature! This is a way to keep them mentally active. Well done, Oliver & owner!
D'ya love Beagles or what?? And man, can they detect stuff...Hubby had a mysterious rash that they could not figure out, at the VA Hospital. They asked if we'd consider a bedbug inspection, in the remote possibility it might be bug bites (there was nothing amiss in our house)..Anyway the great dog our management sent to the apartment, was a shelter rescue. He is 12, a Jack Russell/Beagle mix, and the BEST detection dog this company proudly boasts...he went right to work on "The Big Sniff". His handler Dave, merely dropped his hand to his side, gently snapped his fingers, and that pup was on the case. I am very impressed by this little guy's 'nose work". And, take my hat off to pros who train 'pets to have a job". Another reason to love dogs - they help keep us safer - and healthier! We still don't know what kinda rash my husband has, but one thing for sure - we DON'T have bedbugs, and ..wow what a cute pooch.
Can't wait for Oliver to "search" something right off of the dining-room table during Thanksgiving....."I FOUND THE TREATS!!!" Yep, and the turkey/stuffing/food goes onto the floor.....
Love you comment One time I left groceries on floor near closed doggie gate. Came back 1/2 hour later and beagle managed to find the bag with the donut in it. Funny how she managed to paw that bag though the doggie gate railing. She found it and it wasn't even lost!
What a great pup. I love watching him after a long day at work. Makes me smile and brings back some great memories of my spree. Not sure if I have seen all your videos but I'm still looking
I love hearing Oliver’s feet pitter patter around when he’s searching for the treats.
Hehe, my doxie's paws sound similar. Otherwise she's a black and tan ninja.

"You don't have any treats; why should I sit?" Said every beagle since the dawn of time.

Oliver gets cuter all the time.
num num num werrr
Do beagles just perpetually look like pups?
Ravenclaw Seer some do. My snoopy looks puppy like still and he’s seven but some dogs just age differently then others I guess
Maybe! But Oliver is only twenty months old so he's still pretty young! He has definitely filled out a bit but his face is still quite puppy-ish.

Nah my beagle is 8 and he’s already going white around the face hahaha u can tell pretty quickly that he’s a bit older
My beagle is only 3 and He already has some white hairs but he doesn’t necessarily look old he’s still very cute and sweet
"You don't have any treats why should I sit?" 😂😂 Luke is just the same
Great beagles think alike!

I love when Oliver came running in when you called him. It was so cute. He’s like “I’m ready”
It's Sky I know!! He comes scampering in lol
Yes, that's my favorite part of the video too!!
i love the way this guy films his videos. it’s very home-style instead of overly polished and it works great to capture oliver’s cuteness

Makes us feel like we are part of the family.
He's such a fine little hound, a fine little hound, indeed.
Hound? I don't speak native English, but isn't that some kind of mythical evil beast-like creature that only looks a bit like a dog?
