As usual Anand is correct! Please look at UK- people have stopped working because of inheritance tax. We work hard to provide for my family. When I work, I get taxes every which way. When I buy something I get taxed, when I save I get taxed and when I die my taxed savings are again taxed!!! As a retired bank officer I fully support what you have commented. Top most bank officials were summoned during congress period to PM's residential office and forced to sanction before execution of any formalities. Later on those loans gone bad and due to lack of proper documents initiating legal action against those loanees became difficult.

There was succession tax in India during Congress regime. It was Sam's friend Rajiv Gandhi repealed it in 1985, saying that it did not contribute in wealth inequality . It was also quoted that only 20 Cr was the collection in 1984-85.
