The audio of 3rd generation is significantly improved in sound stage, base and volume compared to 2nd generation. I've done a side by side comparison. It was worth the upgrade!

This video is really helpful as getting the mini for my 7 year old and thinking this might be easier to get my 2 1/2 year old. As she will be able to use it better
I’m surprised the USB cable doesn’t come with a charging block. It’s important to know the parameters for the Yoto, since my second generation just died and had an SD failure, I wouldn’t want to worry about hooking this up to the wrong juice source, and shortening the life. The 2nd gen was only just under 3 years old
My second generation had an SD fail. I wish they started concentrating on servicing them, as mine was under 3 years old, And it’s an easy fix to get a new SD card, but not necessarily an easy process for me to do it myself. The thing is practically family to us, so I hate to think of junking it, and also the electronic waste that would cause. I would’ve been happy sticking with the second generation, but now I have to get the third generation. Here’s to hoping for a longer life on the 3rd gen! I’ll probably tinker with the second GEN to see if I can figure out how to get a new SD card in there, and then I will just keep that one for myself. Unfortunately I will also have to buy the new jacket and accessories for the 3rd gen because the old ones won’t be compatible.
Selling the yoto mini , and getting this one for christmas , he loves his toniebox and never got into the mini, hoping the biggee screen is a game changer for him for bed time, the toniebox remains in the car always so im hoping the yoto player will be his in home player
It does! Make sure the Bluetooth setting is turned on in the app and pretty much the same process of holding the left button button down for 3 seconds or so and the bluetooth icon should pop up. Use the right to change it the headset pixel art to pair headphone with it.
I think the main advantage of the mini is if you do travel via airplanes it’s much easier to pack in a backpack or purse. On roadtrips not as big of a deal since you’re not quite as limited on baggage allowed. We just took a road trip and my 4 year old son still preferred 3rd gen. Other than that the 3rd generation is really better especially with much better battery life. Of course it’s also more expensive, but I think it’s worth it.

What a downgrade! My 3 year old was able to put the yoto onto the charging platform, which was magnetised. There’s now way I’d want her clumsy little sausage-fingers stabbing the fragile end of a USBC cable into the socket over and over again, damaging it each time or worse, getting mixed up with my phone’s lightning cable and forcing that in there!
