I don't see the WNBA players that connected to politics versus a scratch and sniff at it. They are mostly activists for unfortunate reasons that goes along with their unfortunate racism. I think the WNBA leaders have pushed that for fan interest to people that are also not so connected to politics. None of the players or WNBA management have the time or inclination to put in to get a proper understanding of the complexity of politics. It's the same for most in the country. We used to be able to trust the evening news summaries which if people watched a lot would give a broad general view of events. That is long gone now.
The WNBAs real problem has always been the same: the quality of play sucks. It's boring to watch, period. Bill Burr is right: Women failed the WNBA.

The league has lost tens of millions of dollars since their inception. The NBA has been supporting the league since the beginning. Without that, the league would have folded years ago.

Clark just plays the game a way that is compelling. She pushes the ball up so quickly, so fast. Then the logo 3s. In watching Clark, I’ve grown to appreciate the entire Fever team quite a bit too. They’re nice people or seem to be. I’m a Fever fan and make no apologies for it.
I love how you explain why we sports fans love watching the Indiana Fever: It starts with Caitlin Clark and then from this positive we start noticing (and loving) the positive aspects about her team mates.

ABC + ESPN are filled with college football on Saturday. I agree though, they should move the season so it ends in August when no football is on when they are only competing with snoozeball, I mean baseball.

For the most part, men's pro sports left racism behind. Does it still exist yes, but it is a tiny minority. In the WNBA it is actually the players who are the racists. People don't watch sports to get political lecture and you are going to just piss them off. The problem for them is people are calling the players out for their open racist comments and actions and they are angry about it.

I'm an old White guy from the East side of the mountains in WA state where racism, to my knowledge doesn't exist unless it is perpetrated by Liberals looking for an issue. Funny how that is, eh. I don't remember why I started watching the WNBA but I'm glad I did. Caitlan is such a great player and is fun to watch with her obvious love of the game and exuberant appeals to the crowds by including them in her game and the fun she's having. And, her strengths to stand up to adversity and keep playing with tenacity and a sometimes gritty smile makes her a symbol of fortitude for we lessers. You know what was even more fascinating to me, in an introspective sort of way, was my finding other players on her team to follow and love the way they play, too. AB is one smart cookie - love her after game and individual interviews - and a rock in the paint. Kelsey is simply a blast to watch, a dynamo, the Flash. Lexi, Temi, NaLyssa, Kristy, Katie Lou...I'm sure I missed a couple, Erica Wheeler filled in when needed. The Fever may not be the best overall team but they were sure fun to watch and root for. Now that they are out of the play-offs, my WNBA watching is done for the year. The other teams simply don't have the "fun factor" that Caitlan, Flash AB and the others bring to the game. Come to think about it, Lexi is a lot of fun to watch, too, especially when she went of her 3-point run.
