thank you for sharing your talent and a glimpse into your sewing world! I have the Tiara III and am enjoying the very informative Handy Quilter videos to help me understand all the nuances of my machine as well!
Helen, you truly inspire me. I was affected by an Immune disorder in my 30's with small children. I don't even want to tell you the 20 year story. When I remembered I could sew, I think it was the beginning of the second part of my life. As it seemed like I was making liars out of the doctors & at least survived at best I started to thrive. I did watch alot of videos but I managed to teach myself to quilt, & fell in love with it. I still sew garments for my daughters & I but now I believe the sit down machine is for me. Thank you for sharing so much of your own work. Quilting goes way beyond what I have been doing! I know I have to save a bit, my youngest is graduating from college this year, my nest is just about empty. Now I know how I will fill some of the space. She is number 3, I love your newer Sweet Sixteen!
I just love these webinars!!! I learn so much from watching them .. Way to go Handi Quilter for doing these and especially with the sweet sixteen sit down !!! It's great to see where everyone is from makes for a great community!!!
Wonderful webinar! Helen is so talented and a wonderful educator. I loved the studio tour, and seeing both the awards she has earned, and the creative and inspiring quilts she has made. If this webinar doesn't create a serious case of machine envy in everyone who watches, I don't know what will. Very inspiring!
Wow! So inspirational. All I want to do is quilt my family's quilts I make them. Who knows maybe I will be able to do some interesting artistic stuff too! PS Mine just arrived, not even out of the box yet!
Love your demonstrations. Only one suggestion and that is to have both of you ladies have mics. Helen is very clear but Vicki, your voice is very quiet. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and knowledge.
Great video but especially loved the studio and house tour. I’ve been a fan since I first saw the 3 Sisters quilt (might not be the exact name). I feel like that was my first introduction to what you can do with art quilting. I will categorically say that I am not an artist in that I can’t draw but I do a lot of art quilts and just make things work. I actually own the Bernina Q20 which I’ve had for 2 years and same thing - my quilting has just jumped by leaps and bounds by not having to wrestle a wild bear of a huge quilt in a 7” throat. I don’t have the space to stretch it out like it can, but that 20” throat is life changing!
It amazes me how some quilts just stick in our heads. The 3 sisters quilts were from 2007 and 2008. Long time ago now. Glad my videos help you so much.
Great information. However, I quilted a lap-sized quilt on my Singer 403A with a darning foot and sole-plate in "darn" position (feed dogs disengaged from the fabric) and quilted in every direction. Did not turn the quilt at all to change directions. Several people told me that it couldn't be done - quilting with my 403. The sewing machine shop and some UA-cam videos disagreed. It was my first free-motion quilt. It wasn't perfect but it was pretty dang good. I've bought a used HV Platinum 16 (used for 1 quilt), but have yet to practice. I'm hoping that it is very similar to this machine (if not identical) and am looking forward to using it for many quilts!
Wonderful, helpful video. Thank you!! I do not agree with the portability, tho. I have a similar machine and it is very heavy. It is a big job to take it all apart and put in the car. There is no way I would do all that for a few days at a retreat.
It is completely achievable on a large quilt but we are not going to create a queen size quilt for a quick online tutorial. I work up to 90” on my Sweet with ease.
Good idea for the blanket stitch....I have a straight stitch workhorse domestic, I'll have to try that.....don't let her tease you, I've heard people say patteren not pattern.....lol..
OH I want one of these machines. I dislike my Pfaff Icon I bought for quilting. It is fussy and I cannot use the adhesive spray to hold my quilt sandwich together .When I do it skips. Where can I buy this machine
Can you use this machine to put an already quilted and bound quilts back under it to add more quilting to it like so you have some bare spots or you forgot some quilting can you add more quilting to an already quilted quilt and if so can you demonstrate how that would happen. And I've never really seen anywhere where there was why was this particular machine created what was it created for other than to be a portable long arm, but it's not really a portable long arm but maybe an extension of an embroidery machine?
Yes you could add more quilting. The previous quilting and binding is like stabiliser or basting. You can absolutely add more quilting. Go for it. The machine was originally designed by a Quilter as a table top system. The company was sold and expanded to the biggest quilting machine company in the world today.
You're are soooo talented! You mentioned your paints. May I ask what they were called again? Where I may purchase a set? Sending much love and admiration for such beautiful work, from Ontario, Canada!
Rosianna Caccamo sorry for the delayed response. Did not know how to access these comments until now. I’m a great Quilter but not so good with technology! I use and sell my favoured products such as Lumiere fabric paint on my website. I also have many online classes in painting and quilting. Go to www.helengodden.com
I have really good luck with Filtec Glide or most polyester threads but when I use Aurefil or different cotton threads they seem to shred and break on my HQ Sweet 16. Is there a trick to using those threads?
If they are breaking, you would need to try to stitch with a looser tension. Loosen the bobbin thread first and then adjust the top. You can also try a larger needle.

love your work Helen thanks for the tour

Thank you. I have really enjoyed watching these programmes. Long arm machine is on the list of wants for the future!
Thank You for the studio tour and the tips!
Our pleasure!

Sold great webinar. Education is the bestseller. Thank you ladies. Linda L
Thanks Ron. Handi Quilter and I are all about education. Not just selling a box.

That’s ok. Loads of quilters do take it to a weekend away. I have quilters bring them for a 1 day class. We help with a trolley but it is achievable.
OMG! you are truly amazing thank you for sharing
wow such talent Helen.
you should always show how on large quilts such as queen or king thank you .

Well you r my hero!
Thanks Denise.
How high does the table go?
how do I order table extenders
Why did you use tule on the quilt and stitch over it?
The tulle keeps the applique pieces in place until they are quilted.
Also means I can free motion any pattern on top ms do no have to focus purely on securing every edge of the applique pieces.
I have really good luck with Filtec Glide or most polyester threads but when I use Aurefil or different cotton threads they seem to shred and break on my HQ Sweet 16. Is there a trick to using those threads?

Try a larger needle.
also how about showing how to load the frame please!
ginger johnson There are videos on this. From what I've seen so far, the company doesn't care to respond to user questions.
Handi Quilter has many videos to watch with instruction for frames. Subscribe to this UA-cam channel and search.
