    The funny thing is you can feel your mind trying to make sense of the forms as though they were constructions with practical functions, even though you know they are nothing of the sort.

      Fractals are "practical functions" of mathematics that are understood and many people do understand what a fractal is.

    • @pondoz
      @pondoz 3 роки тому +2

      Fun fact, if you plot all the points of tree branch growth on a graph, it makes this. Mandelbrot fractals are the shape created when nature occurs. Also, the rate of a dripping tap, take the time when it drips and it plots this aswell.
      It seems natural because it is, these 3D renderings ARE how the entire universe operates.

    I'm wondering why exactly these structures are so prevalent during my psychedelic experiences. Even before seeing fractal videos such as this one, my trips would often contain what I would describe as infinite psychedelic Eiffel towers twisting and morphing into each other. Wonderful stuff.

    • @ArthurStammet
      @ArthurStammet  8 років тому +32

      +EvilTim1911 That's interesting. It seems to prove that fractal formulas are universal and that computers just succeed in representing worlds that only exist in mathematics.

      supadox I understand why the visuals have a fractal nature, but I don't understand why I see exactly the same structures as in the video. There are many different kinds of fractals as you probably are aware, but ones similar to those shown in the video are extremely prevalent in my CEVs.

    • @squeegeemcgee
      @squeegeemcgee 8 років тому +10

      fractals are pretty universal in nature. my friends and i had a conversation while we were all on acid, and we would *repeatedly* find some way to relate fractals into the main topic or point being made, even with *no* initial relation to fractals.

    • @blackopal3138

    There's just something about fractals that makes my brain say to me "this is it!"

    • @ArthurStammet
      @ArthurStammet  10 років тому +6

      I also thought so, when I saw the first 3D fractals after having primarily worked with 2D frcatals. Two different solutions for representing the complexity of our universe, beginning with simple formulas and going on with rather long investigations leading to "this is it"-exclamations!

    [O]utside the ordered universe [is] that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity-the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.[

      Thank you very much. I think, it shouldn't be so difficult because this footage has been among my very first attempts with Mandelbulb 3D. It's important to make many test renders of the animation in order to understand what's happening while morphing and flying around with Bézier curves ;-)

      +AT01 No. Just one formula with a series of morphing parameters!!!
      Building up such a world, only one of them by leaving away the morphings, should be far too big for the memory of any actual computer and I think, that the imagination of any 3D creator couldn't imagine even some few elements of this complex stuff.

    • @ArthurStammet
      @ArthurStammet  4 роки тому +1

      Yes indeed, and I've already done this with another sequence. Remaking the whole movie for 360° viewing is highly demanding, considering the computer power. Every picture will become 4x larger and there are tens of thousands to render for a movie of this type. Therefore I won't even consider to do so because I don't want to have my computer turning on that only job without interruption for months.

      It is y hybrid 3D fractal made with Mandelbulb 3D and using two formulas with "alternate" combination: 1. Amazing Box and 2. Menger 3. Here are the parameters of the nearest keyframe:

    A fabulous fractal fantasy...it's kind of got this two thousand and one vibe to it...those glittery balls would make a great necklace. 1987...(A Morphy You Should Turn to Be).

    Is it beyond possibilities to use this program in sync with an audio input so that the music being played will dictate the fractals in real time?

    • @ArthurStammet
      @ArthurStammet  10 років тому

      Not with this Software. The complexity for the Renderings is much too high for realtime Treatments, especially when entering so deeply into the fractal. I imagine that it should be possible in the future with powerful graphic Cards and much more simple fractals, only modulated on their Surface.

    How do you create animations like this with mandelbulb?

    I have only been using MB3d for a week or so and its addictive, your video is inspiring, how though did you get the gold metal look and the light flashes(flares) and are you only using 2 formulas throughout, I havent quite figured out how to morph shapes without losing them.

    • @ArthurStammet
      @ArthurStammet  10 років тому

      The gold metal look has been realized with a high "spec" (black-brown palette) and and orange-grey-yellow palette with "Col cycling" in the "Obejt" parameters of the "Lightning" dialogue box.
      The light flares and sparkles have been added in postproduction: Adorage Vitascene plugin.
      Only one basic formula has been used for the whole fractal. The important thing to do is trying very subtle changes in the "Scale" and "Rotation..." parameters of the "Menger3" and to try out many camera paths in the render preview in order to avoid flying through the structure. This effect appears as an expected effect in another video on the same, this time unmorphed, formula: ua-cam.com/video/KTCuSRSRflQ/v-deo.html

      Is that plugin a part of mb3d? thank you again for your help. :-)

      @ArthurStammet  10 років тому

      Terry Thayer It's a Premiere Plugin. An expensive solution because you need Adobe Premiere and the Plugin which also costs a lot of money. Sorry for that ;-)
