I believe indie fighters for the MD are still a long way to go, but it's been interesting watching the journey unfolding in front of us. Speaking of Brazil being a hub for MD development, Master Linkuei is making a completely new Kenseiden (yes, new, not a port of the SMS version) for the console and it's looking very promising.
Respect for developers who continue homebrew games development in 2023. I would like to mention "Insaine pain" from a nice presentation perspective. My standpoint is "Insaine Pain" is #1 here.
Game looks really good, infact it's got a hell of a lot of promise, so can't wait to see how the devs go forward. The name makes me laugh, too. I'm pretty sure that they've stolen photos of a friend of mine from about 15 years ago to use as Kryos' inspiration. He mostly walked about with his top off, large tattoos on display. Except, he couldn't ever throw a fireball...
i tried making my own street fighter game and its tough. After animating half of Ryu's move I was exhausted and can't even imagine animating four other characters. So big props to the people working on this game.
Doesn't look bad, but I have to agree with what you've said about it needs a bit of work. Still, the amount of time until release should hopefully be enough to sort things out. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
Programmers need to dose the resources available on the Mega Drive, the secret to being able to take advantage of all the memory available on a ROM cartridge. This game has a lot of room for improvement and who knows how much memory it isn't already using in this demo, imagine in the final ROM...
I don't know if they're gonna make it, but I'd love to see them get the chance to do so. Just to get more devs and publishers on the Mega Drive in general. I backed my copy, I hope they met their objective..
There’s a ton of bangers coming out for the Genesis, NES, SNES, and the GBs that I know of in 2024. Honestly this one doesn’t impress me much. I know it’s a demo but I’m sure it’ll still look and play similar. IDK maybe I’ll like it…
Mike! Still no flop!! I knew it, you must’ve hurt yourself once I bet! Lol! I like fighters, but unfortunately, there’s not enough good ones on the genesis. Fingers crossed though that this’ll be ok
I agree, but it’s not finished yet. If they can iron out those frames and add more layers to the backgrounds, it could look a lot better. Will it be a good game? That’s tough, there’s hardly any good fighters on the genesis, outside of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, there hardly any good ones
Does a bit of an unfinished, need a lot more polish to it look, But for a beginning concept it looks fantastic.!! The hit reaction animations need work, characters recover way too quickly The way things animate it’s just a bit too fast and herky jerky And the animations do not have time to play out . They just snap into places . This adds to a very spam look to the gameplay .
It's still in development. Remember this is indie dev, not professional teams creating these games. It can take indies years to hone their craft as they often do it in their spare time.
Not for gameplay I can guarantee that. Time killers is a piece of shite and that game had a quarter of a million dev budget across arcade and console. These guys do it in their spare time.
@@RetroGamerBoy True but the results don't seem any better than Time Killers. I get the impression over the past few years the MD gaming community give a free pass to any new Mega Drive homebrew game that is given a cart release but if you're going to put a homebrew game on cartridge it should be held to the same standards as commercially released games from the library. To be honest a lot of of MD homebrew cartridge releases feel like an after thought, more availability than taking advantage of the hardware. There has to be some standards on the stuff people are charging for a physical release.
They do not need a picture of the characters at the Life bar. If they need to take save mem. Their character design and naming is not their strong point. They need to contact me ..
Looks very mid to me. Credit to the Indy Devs, but I never cared much for digitized characters and environments. Compared to "drawn" characters, these just miss the mark for me.
Not enough life to the life bars .! We been over games that have short life bars . This needs attacks to take wayyyy less damage .!! There needs more hit effect animations. Character that get hit by a fireball. Need to slide and buckle more and not just instantly reset back to stance animation. Fireball should be a bit slower . Giving it some value
How are we in 2023 and people cannot tell the difference between 8bit and 16bt. Also I thought gameplay is king not how pretty it is. If that's the case then Eternal Champions is one of the best games ever made.
@@RetroGamerBoy I think that people can tell the difference between eight colours on screen and sixteen colours on screen. And thirty-two colours on screen if you were a lucky Amiga 500 owner.
Hang in there ..!! This is over eternal champions in the gameplay department. Eternal champions sucked when it came to gameplay . Everything else over shadowed the fact that eternal champions played like poop.!! Everything about the gameplay in eternal champions screamed why did they do that .!! From characters that jump too high, float too much and cover too much ground. Bounce too much when tripping or thrown, animated weirdly when thrown. Spammy moves and animations. Quick hit recovery and animations. Eternal champions was just a random mess of ideas and the worst culprit was the gameplay . Nothing made sense in nothing , The button inputs, the executions The animations and impact reactions. The sfx was all awfully selected . The executions in its finishing moves and the way they animated and played out was even dogshit as well

Yup, those guys did a great job on that game. I love the announcer.
Dino Fighters (also from Brazil) is looking promising
Ohhh I've not heard of that.
They should have used dithering on the sprites. Those look unpolished
Maybe they will, it's still in development.
one of the fighters looks like ezra millers flash lol

Nice one to look out for. Thanks Mike 😊
No worries
Cool to see the snes and genesis still get love from indie developers. But what about turbo grafx? I wanna see the turbo grafx 16 get some love also.
Find and donate a devkit
I think there are some TurboGrafx 16 indie games out there.
@@RetroGamerBoy there's only one
This guy originally made killer instinct on Genesis, he turned it into this. That was a bad move.
I'm not sure he did that😂

Anthony..
It does. I think if they could spend more time polishing the game they would have a solid fighter on their hands.
Amazing video
Is this your engine again good sir? It seems to be improving with every game if it is.
@@RetroGamerBoy Hi Mike! Its not mine, its D'Ávila's Engine
It's crazy to me just how many Genesis games are still coming out.

I hope so too, without support the indie dev scene will vanish.
TMNT Tournament Fighters feels laggy because it is just that.
I don't remember the exact number of delayed frames but it's more than it should be.
Great licence bad implementation. And that was a team with a decent budget and a world class IP.
Amazing! =,)
It's got some way to go but it's a great start.
The sega genesis is still going 💪🏽 same as the snes
It's great to see these old consoles getting a new lease of life.

It's not that bad, but then art is subjective.
The jump kick doesn’t have that much of an effect.
They need to really work on the damage impact animations. And reactions.
Game play is pretty decent, but yes characters and animation could be improved.
Metaruman?!
I don't know.
Definitely sounds and looks like a solid base. A few colour choice changes here and there and some polish.
