Cavaquinho is a portuguese instrument from Minho(North of Portugal).

In fact, it is possible that Cavaquinho is older than Cape Verde as a country. There are at least records of Cavaquinho in the 16th century when it was introduced by Portuguese navigators in Indonesia, which inspired Kroncong, an Indonesian adaptation of Cavaquinho.
Fun Fact: The Ukelele was inspired in Cavaquinho who was bring by portuguese immigrants to Hawaï in 19th century.
