  • Why Monkey and a Pirate? Well, that's how playing Benoni feels to me, fun, wild and unpredictable!
In this video, I share the second-round game from the classical chess tournament I played on August 3rd, 2024, in Dallas, TX. My formidable opponent, rated 2000 USCF, challenged me with the exciting Benoni Defense. The Benoni is a sharp opening where White takes central space, while Black aims to counterattack on the e-file and the Queenside.
Modern computers give white advantage in the opening but from human perspective, anyone who has played chess understand that making accurate moves is not easy. So, it's definitely an exciting way to play against 1.d4 and has attracted many strong players. I myself have enjoyed playing so called, Modern Benoni with Black, as well as Old Benoni lines.
I hope you enjoy the game! Let me know in the comments if you have any experiences with the Benoni yourself.
