Cool seeing the kid off the actual unit. Is the best sample provided. Bless.
It looks like it's her again: www.factmag.com/2017/01/18/9-year-old-girl-designed-teenage-engineering-pocket-drum-machine/ :-)
BASS DROP
I want this! Kraftwerk was ahead of its time with 1981's Pocket Calculator.
" I'm the operator, with my pocket calculator.
I am adding and subtracting. I'm controlling and composing.
By pressing down a special key it plays a little melody. "
The last two PO are sooo ahead of the rest! exciting stuff
i´ve been waiting for so long. this is the ultimate speak and spell. my dreams have come true. thank you teenageengineering!
thanks for your support!
This device is so amazing, just got it in the mail and already got my money worth in 4 minutes. So cool I am on the verge of tears. God bless you Teenage Engineering.
thanks a lot for your support and for sharing your experience. great to hear! looking forward to hearing your music!
@@teenageengineering I have a question , when I sync two pocket operators, can they only affect their individual onboard sound? I wanted to use the effects from the speak OnLive sounds coming from knock out. is this possible without recording onto speak first? or will the line in only ever bypass the effects unless recorded
@@miguelm9961 short answer, no, not possible. speak is not real-time processing.
........Do any other pocket operators have "no real-time processing"?
@@teenageengineering Issue Solved. I will use speak as master. It does not disturb k.o slave during playpack the way k.o disturbs speak slave. Thank u.
I'm the operator with my pocket calculator
hahah
that's arguably where their idea came from, especially when seeing the Japanese writing on the boxes for all of the POs :D
Kraftwerk quotes
Thank you TE You are the best!
I'm very excited about this
the voice effects are excellent.
That's not a teenager.
im just a kidddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
Gangi Films
AYYY BLANK BANSHEE REFERENCE
But he will! : )
Kid Engineering
Yeah. But for some reason selling a product from a company called "Toddler Engineering" just doesn't seem to sell to the target audience... or really any audience.
it's like you got inside my head and made exactly the thing I needed before I knew I needed it.
that robot lady be all like "bass drop!" right in your face. phat robot lady
Amazing! Studio effects in your pocket.
貴社が作る製品にはどれも魅力を感じます
great job creating this!
Ok, this is actually pretty awesome!
Thanks guys! Super!!!
Excellent video, thanks for posting, much appreciated. New sub : )
Excellent beatbox!!
Getting one ASAP
Great tools!!...and very funny video :-D
these effects into OP-1
now i want one
I WANT THIS TOOOOO !!!!!!
icecool presentation
Does it resample to evolve the sound with layered fx?
How do you play I love it
is that funky bass on other PO's?
I would love something between op1 and po. Cheap like po, more functions like op1.
OP-Z
... funny/cute samples :-)
Nach anhaltenden Hackingangriffen wurden Sicherheitslücken des PO33 offenbart. Während der Sitzung wurden beispielsweise Datein aus dem Speicher entfernt. Bitte schliessen Sie diese Lücke.
Oh but the possibilities of that line in
With that line in is it possible to sample literally anything?!
@@gideoniskemp Yup
@@AndrewPRoberts holy shit
Just found one online after some deep searching... Looking forward to its arrival in a few days... finally losing my teenage engineering virginity...
Next stop: PO-35!
cute drop!
wheres the opz ?
How Many?
Wow this is amazing but it has to wait untill next month screw you te for always taking all my money 😂
How is it?
The bass drop sounded natural, not synthetic as I have seen in review videos by Cookoo, and Haqattack. Can we really play record sound as naturals? Or they will always sound synthetic ? PO 33 sounds more natural.
elephanto espresso there is a nice character called natural that adds very little change to the sound.
nedavine ok
Gettin' this video in my recommendations right now, makes me thinking of TE releasing maybe new stuff soon? 8)
friend, is it possible to record a sample without it adding effects? Everything I record he already adds effects on top, then the sample is messy!
This one doesn't really sample as-is, but instead uses synthesis to store the voice. So it will always sound a bit messy, but that's why some people like it. If you want cleaner sampling, check out the PO-33 :)
Finally
i have a po137 which is apparently based on the 35. when i sample it comes out distorted. anyone know if its possible to disable the synth engine for recording true sounds
PO-137 is indeed based on the PO-35 speak, which is best suited for voice recordings. you can try different frame rate settings and toggle high or low pitch range using these secret functions: soniccharge.com/forum/topic/1060-po-35-secret-powers listen to hear if you find a setting that works for you. otherwise the PO-33 K.O! might be better suited for your specific needs in this case. thanks!
I've heard that the speak got 140 sec sampling time as a vocoder? But why the K.O only have 40 sec of sampling although it is a real sampler ? Shouldn't that be the other way around? Just asking. Will buy the PO-30 superset anyways soon. Dope work guys👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽❤️
Speak doesn't store all sample data. Instead it stores speech synth parameters that it extracts from the recording. These take up much less space. (Basically: pitch, volume, voiced vs unvoiced + a bunch of formant filter parameters.). This is also how toys like Speak'n'Spell could store so much voice data on only a few kb of ROM in the 70's.
Magnus Lidström ahh ok. That makes sense 👍🏽 Thx.
Ohai, thanks for making dope plug-ins!
Mr Oizo sounding
good compliment, thanks!
makes me wonder what the PO-34 will be.
it will not exist. there are 3 pocket operators in every series.
10's - 12, 14 and 16
20's - 20, 24 and 28
30's - 32, 33 and 35.
in the future there might be 40's, but we don't know what numbers they'll be.
Good point! I haven't got the first series yet but I like that sub bass one a lot! I hope they do a FM synth in the next series with a Yahama YM series chip (Sega Genesis)
I love my PO-35, BUT... these seems to be an internal issue with StandBy mode... Even when not in use for a few weeks, the batteries drain completely and must be replaced. I'm not sure if this is a board issue, or if it can be addressed via a firmware update (if possible). Any suggestions?
thanks for your comment. glad to hear you like the speak. hm, is something usually connected in line in? then it takes longer for the unit to enter sleep. also, sometimes the knobs can find themselves 'between' two values, making the unit think that it is being changed, thus not entering sleep mode. if it indeed does enter sleep but still drains maybe check the batteries used. we recommend high quality rechargeable batteries. if none of the above applies then please contact our support so we can properly follow up. thanks!
@@teenageengineering Thanks so much for the in depth reply. To respond: Sorry, I have nothing connected, and the unit does enter sleep mode fine - I can see the little dog just waiting - wagging his tail (LOL). I am currently running standard commercial alkaline batteries (Ray-O-Vac), so I could try some rechargeable types. I am doing a little test to see what the battery level would report if checked once a day... might have something meaningful on this in a few days. If necessary, I will follow up with Tech Support. Again, thanks so much for your help. TE is an AMAZING company with fantastic products!!!
ok that's cool, thanks for your flexibility. hope you solve it! take care and have a good one.
The 8 key on my PO has no sound 🤔
What's for the output wire?
you can put headphones in it
Can you use it as right away effect for extern audio? Like sending a voice into audio in and getting an autotuned voice at audio out for example?
it’s not realtime but as soon as you sampled you’ll hear it
thanks
I want iittttttt 😍😍😍😍
if you get it, let's hear iitttttt! 😍
PO-35 Speak how restore data? there is a video, how to do it?
teenage.engineering/guides/po-35/en#data
Shut up and take my money!
b~a~s~s~~d~r~o~p
Can you do more steps in a sequence so it doesn’t sound so “loopy”?
yes, you can chain up to 64 patterns together, to create longer sequences and full songs. each pattern has 16 steps, which is set. if you need even more sequencing flexibility then check out OP-Z.
Ok. Nice. But what about the OP-Z?
말썽꾸러기 maybe they’re funding it with these.
we’re working on perfecting it
Thanks for answering!
Op-2?
Teenage engineering's PO range all looks fun and interesting...in theory. However, in practice, I find it very cheeky of TE that the PO backs/covers are sold separately (imagine buying a cell phone or a radio and being told you've got to pay another £25 for the battery case and/or to cover up the exposed PCB). Another dealbreaker is the absence of USB or MIDI connectivity. A MIDI in (a la the Volca series) and/or audio-out-via-usb (a la Roland's Aira range) would be awesome.
hey dino, thanks a lot for your input. have you tried any of them yet? which one was your favorite? cases not needed but we have released the cad file drawings for the hardware, so anyone can make their own cases for free if desired. a good tip for getting external sync in is to use an old phone with the korg sync app, have that connect wirelessly to ableton link and run a cable to the po, for semi-wireless super tight sync. starting at $49 they are def not as advanced as the volcas or the airas. still, worth trying. peace
+teenageengineering I am tempted by the Arcade, Robot and Speak. However, build quality (or lack there of) is a dealbreaker. Also, here in the UK, prices start at over £50 for the oldest POs and around £90 for more recent models (+£25 for a cover for each). If you made a groovebox dedicated to Chiptunes that rivalled Novation's Circuit or Korg's Electribe (in terms of features/price) I'd snap that up without a 2nd thought.
Dino Goldie, I took my PO-14 on holiday with me, was fine in my bag that was jam packed full. They're sturdier than you'd imagine and such great fun.
Word of warning though, you can get some funny looks off customs guys when you pull out what is basically a circuit board with batteries! I had to show them it made music and was not anything to do with some kind of terrorist activity.
Can't decide over PO-33 or 35, they both look so good.
I can personally say that the build quality isn't an issue. Although they look rather fragile, the circuit board that makes up the majority of the body is quite sturdy and would be very difficult to break. These things really are worth the price (in my opinion), and you really can't find any kind of groovebox for cheaper. Also, the Arcade and Robot are really awesome!
I dont think buying a case is an issue at all. But the PRICE of the cases is purely insulting. Absolutely ridiculous. I have a PO32 which I love, but I wont buy any more PO gear because including the case they are over priced. So if the prices for cases were more reasonable I think that might solve a lot of users problems.
i wish you could turn off quatization
for complex grooves you can set the start position per step for the 15 sounds
I'm poor, can only dream.
dream rich
Review sample, 'Paid Product Promotion' I be more than happy to promote your wonderful devices. ;)
The girl reminds me of the offical Korg's Volca Sample demo video. ua-cam.com/video/oZZCop8U4gE/v-deo.html
that's what I'm saying
Haha
Where's the case, is this how it comes, unfinished? :-/
you can buy the case if you want to, but it works completely fine like this too. they sell it without the case.
Im gonna be broke if yall keep playing with my brain im addicted to your products Teenage Engineering Rehab naw thats for quitters?
make em work for you! create and put up on whatever monetizing platform of choice… voilà, passive income!
nice one. but an OP-1 successor would be more appreciated. true Stereo Operation on all 4 Tapes and some proper Sequencers. Plus high quality Stereo Effects. Rest could stay the same. Maybe a slightly bigger Display, but the one from the OP-1 was fine. No need for this OP-Z toy: A real OP-1 successor is now necessary !!!
the op-z is just a further-refined op-1. don't really get what you're asking for here, and it's kind of unrelated to the actual video too
Teenage Engineering create interesting stuff, but I'll pass. I don't love the current novelty market.
