The Cbus media are fans of the program. Ultimate adult cheerleaders. Even Boren said, winning the playoff will make everyone forget this game. Are you kidding, Zach? You're drinking the kool-aid also!
First time I’ve been down on Day. He is completely psyched out by the Michigan game. The tough talk isn’t for anyone else: it’s him trying to convince himself that HE is mentally ready for this game. And ever since it’s been about “toughness” he’s played into Michigan’s scheme.
Stop making excuses. Ohio players under performed. Michigan DL once again dominated Ohio OL from running the ball. Ohio kicker missed 2 field goals. Michigan OWNS ohio. GO BLUE!!!!💙💛
Look, I don't pretend to be an expert play caller, but 5 minutes into the game, I knew what they needed to do. They needed to scrap the run game completely, and throw the ball down the field. Throw deep. Then throw deep, and if that failed, throw deep again. Don't care about the wind. It's who they are. They are not a power run team. They haven't been since 2019. They don't have the horses to do it. What they do have is the best collection of WRs in CFB. Screw the run. Use pop passes if you have to. You don't have to run to win. You don't.
@@PatrickTowersthey could have too, the drive before the half was a good one , I believe after the hit Howard was injured , and I don’t think Day trusted Brown
1996 Michigan had some very good players on it including a sophomore named Charles Woodson …they had some bad losses.. a 16-0 blown 4th quarter lead against Northwestern.. 3-9 loss against Purdue.. and a bad loss against PSU.. They did go 12-0 in 1997 and went on to share a national title with Nebraska…2024 Michigan had some players left over from a 15-0 run so they had kids that knew how to win big games.. and if they didn’t have recruiting malpractice and actually get a QB in recruiting or the portal.. I think this team with this defense could have been idk 10-2…
@ the 12 team playoff format has greatly reduced the consequences of a loss. Penn State might end up not making the playoffs because they now have to face Oregon. i think OSU will be in the 12.
There's a zero percent chance of a natty with chip afraid to throw the ball, with ryan stuck on having to out physical everybody in the run game with a make shift o-line,. Our defense us absolutely good enough our offense is absolutely good enough, this is solely coaching
I have nothing against Will Howard, he came in and played as well as he could, but I do not think this offense has it with Will at QB and the O line protecting him. There will be nothing in the playoffs or the foreseeable future until QB and O line are fixed. O line being absolute top priority
There is no sugar coating this. The number one goal ALWAYS is beat the team up north. A natty falls short. This was inexcusable. It’s time to move on. RD can’t do it. He can get you to the dance but that’s it. It reminds me so much of Marty Schottrnheimer and the Browns.
@@thefireshow1 The F***Keyes couldn't beat Michigan -- 4 years in a row!! OSU can't beat Michigan - and Michigan had No QB, No Offense! hahahaha. Everyone thinks about how the players last year didn't go PRO because "Beat Michigan" ha!
You must not have grown up in Ohio Interesting that the last 2 coaches that have not grown up in Ohio are a combined 3 and 13 against the school up north
The worse loss??? not even close. Losing to Northwestern? Losing to Purdue? Losing to Michigan State? Losing to Iowa? getting blown out in the playoff? Some of you forget what a bad year looks like.
@@Italk2loud uh no, I lived through all that. Those are even close to this loss. UM was bad this year (just like a Purdue) they had 2 of their best players out. OSU is a top 3 roster in CFB, at home. This was a chance for them to cut a drought, and they shit a brick. Michigan State was atleast a playoff team in 15, I was there, with ugly weather. No one is forgetting shit, we are OSU fans, we dont forget.
I can’t handle the soft pedaling of Day’s failure here. OSU is a “made man” of a program. The BEST way to ruin that would be to operate out of fear. You are what you tolerate. We are not Nebraska or some program like that who needs to fear the unknown. Goddamn fellow Buckeyes-we fired Woody Hayes and Jim Tressel. We didn’t go backwards (in the grand scheme) after losing Urban. For Christ’s sake-we stayed being OHIO GODDAMN STATE after losing Paul Brown. We risk looking like a joke if we let this garbage continue
Texas Washington and Indiana showed you how to beat Michigan, and Day and Chip had too much pride to say, "Let's win the game with our wideouts we're we have the advantage. That alone tells me this coaching doesn't want to do whatever it takes to win, and that is sad
The fact is, that they could have signed the Lou Groza award winner from Miami of Ohio. Instead he went to Alabama. Those botched field goal would have made the difference. I still believe that God has a plan for each of us. That has always been true for those who have faith which comes from the Eternal Grace of Jehovah in Christ! Listening to the players after the game was heartbreaking because it meant so much to the guys! In the grand scheme of things, short term this is difficult but once they do, look out as the playoffs commence.
I'm a Michigan fan. Love the podcast. I just don't understand why Ryan Day Decided that they were gonna try to out physical Michigan. You guys have all that talent at the wide receiver position. We could tell by the end of the first quarter that the Ohio State running game was going to be marginally best. I was sitting at home just waiting for Ohio State to start throwing the ball all over the field, and you never did That's on the head coach.
He may but it won't be legit. he's a rat. this isn't about winning football games its about following orders. if you don't believe that to be true then you should go check out how the ACC was selling tickets to the ACC Championship game SMU vs Clemson @ 3PM on FRIDAY before Miami ever played. Ryan Day was a nobody that came from the NFL; i mean WWE. where the games aren't real. He's not an Ohio guy. He's a rat brought in to demoralize the team and the fanbase and it worked. For whatever reason TTUN was gifted a national championship. you cant have a hero winning 25 straight games against a heel evidently because that isn't good for ratings or for a fan base of a blue blood college team that had ZERO hope of being restored in this rivalry without outside help.....
Old enough to remember not only the 90s..but the 80s as well. Earle was a stubborn cuss..wanted to run all the time even if it wasn't working. That's what Saturday reminded me of. Almost a captian ahab mentality.
Out Coached....Big Time. Ryan Day is soft. Horrific offensive game plan. Day let our team down...let our fans down....let the entire state down. Just Plain Horrific.
Been a Buckeye fan for 60 years. This game was the worst I have seen. I just have no confidence in Day anymore. Worse, I cannot imagine the players can either. I simply cannot fathom how Day has the gall to stay in his position. When I saw him on tv just looking at the brawl at midfield and asking someone what was happening. I don't know if I have ever seen a coach do something like that, Even Cooper would have immediately run toward the mayhem. Day is not a leader of men and he is proving that.
This seemed to have Ryan’s fingerprints all over it. His obsession with proving toughness by running it over and over at TTUN’s strength lost this game. He failed his players and failed the fanbase.
Hey beat writers, how about drilling down on Wed asking Charmin Day, who called the offense and why we continued to run at their strongest spot on the team?
I agree there is still a Natty to play for. But was there any coaching/play calls you saw Saturday that gives you confidence that Ryan Day can beat any of the top teams? Maybe he just has a Michigan mental block which blows my mind, I guess hiring a first time coach from New Hampshire probably wasn’t the best thing to do for OSU.
My, how soon we forget losing to Georgia with a missed field goal. That cost us a national championship! We still are in the NCAA sanctions with the Connor Stalions cheating. Harbaugh was 0-5 at first vs us. We are in the playoffs, Michigan is not. Finally, losing to Michigan is on the play calling not the kids.
You are delusional to the point of insanity. Natty???? With choker Ryan Day and his mentally weak culture? The choked against Oregon. It will happen again.
I day trade. One of the biggest and toughest lessons I had to learn was you trade the market you have not the market you wish you had. I've also coached. A lesson I had to learn in coaching was you coach the team you have not the team you wish you had. Ryan Day has clearly not learned that lesson yet.
Why did we change the offensive game plan to try to show we’re tougher? How about play to our strengths and not TTUN’s strengths? I can’t make sense of it.
Because some people are more concerned with how their enemies perceive them than they are with winning, when they think winning is inevitable. Michigan, and later Lou Holtz, questioning Ohio State’s toughness got into Ryan Day’s head, and hasn’t left. And no matter how many media morons schmooze him otherwise their opinions don’t seem to matter as much to him.
No u guys should keep him in Columbus forever. At THE softest program in the country. If he couldn't win that game with 38 million on the field u guys are screwed 😂 . Great coach. James Franklin could've never given u the same results cryin ryan has at a fraction of the price...not at all...sarcasm if u havnt picked up on it. Sorry but he's a terrible coach with a CERY large bankroll. I truly pray u guys keep him. Make every excuse for why it's ok. Throw whoever u need to under the bus to b able to keep him. Greatest coach in osu history. He's no cooper. Cooper didn't have urban build a program for him. Cooper didn't have that head start. So I say sign him to an extension. GO BLUE!!!!!😂
best portal acquisition was a kicker...no qb. No wr. No te. No cb. Whose school put not a penny into this team. Game in Columbus against the FAMOUS coach Day n THE osu. Against 38 million on the field.. n u still lost. To that umich team. Sorry guy. Soft is the only possibility. Ur team has no heart n no resolve just like their HC. Again I hope u keep him. N I hope u all refuse to see the truth. Just like umich did when carr left. But I'm waiting. If it not soft then what's the excuse this yr? U guys have bent over backwards making excuses for cryin ryan. Uve thrown qbs under the bus. Uve thrown OC under the bus. U whined u were playing sick. N the weather was bad. N we cheated. N blah blah blah. The results are the same tho. So what is the problem this season? Even saw one osu podcast say osu dominated umich for 60 min 🤣. Sorry but that hasn't happened at all in yrs now. So I hope u guys keep that delusion
A severely talent depleted, non rated 6-5 team, with a first year HC, OC and DC and a walk on QB went into the ($30M attempt to buy a Championship) lions den, with all the talent money can buy, and dominated them the entire game…2nd best game EVER, after the Natty!!
Uh, captain wiggle ears! You just spent 13 million on a 5-star home state quarterback recruit! Now captain, you are going to spend way over 20 million to catch up to the rest of college football or you will end up 9-3, 8-4, 7-5… yeah! Welcome to the Big league! Enjoy your bowl game.👍😎
Here’s my thing. If Day could not get the job done with Ohio State’s best roster EVER, what makes anyone think that he can go into Ann Arbor next year with a young inexperienced starting QB, with a young inexperienced roster, and win that game? All these seniors came back just to lose a fourth straight game to Michigan. If they couldn’t get it done, how can a significantly younger roster get it done ON THE ROAD? 1-5 is coming and we have a coach who won’t last another year here.
Can't defend Coach Ryan Day anymore. That loss was unacceptable. Also, he went away from the duel threat Qb that use to dominate the Michigan teams. Ohio St, is too talented to let this happened.
Zach...Look man, any OSu alum appreciates the man you are, the player you were and a fine representative of the university I love...However, its disingenuous at best to suggest that other fanbases would look at OSU with a crooked eye if they fire Day.. This is a gimme 9 to 10 win program every year. It is clearly an elite program, if not the ELITE program, then second. Proof is in the pudding. 25 out of the past 30 season, OSU football has had 10 win seasons. A mule could come here and get 9
They were not rotating the DL like they had in the previous 3 games and it was the same for the WR and you could see WR's tired and losing the crispness on the routes.
If osu cant win with this talent gap whats gonna happen now that M has shown it will match or best osu in talent spending. DARK DAYS ARE JUST STARTING.
The buckeyes overlooked Michigan plain and simple. From the coaches to the players to the Buckeye Nation. No one gave Michigan a chance. It's obvious watching the game that the coaches and players believed all they had to do was show up and collect a win. In Day's post game presser he stated that they expected to beat Michigan and play in the B1G Championship. As General James Mattis once said, "The war is over when the enemy says it's over. They still have a vote in this thing."
The troubling part of this loss is how it happened. This is 100% on the coaches, again. The errors are repeated year after year. Special teams. On a windy day, the coaches need to tell the punt returner what yard to line up on, even Klatt told the world where the punt was gonna land. Penalties after a time out. Clock management. Horrendous game plan and play calling. Ultimately, not putting the players in a possion to succeed. The scarry part is that this was the worst coaching performance. So, the coaches are not learning or progressing.
All day had to do is thow the freakin ball, they couldnt be stopped. shotgun pass it till they stop it. not hard. run the spread, he had people open all game! who cares if we lost the rush game, win it through the freakin air.
Oh please. I said it was a mistake to hire Day. He's proven to be exactly what I said he would be. The decline will only get worse the longer he's here. Gonna be a major rebuild for someone the longer you let this fragile coach stay.
I gotta tell ya -- after Vandy beat BAMA.....? My mind went back to 24 -- 12 in Ann Arbor when nobody gave M a chance then either ! I'm that old. So I had this gut wrenching feeling - that it "COULD" happen - again ? - - - And > here we are !!! -- -- -- -- -- If I'm a player on this team - it would be very hard for me to 'trust' this coaching staff (!) to use the talent that is here - from now on ? > This play calling was PATHETIC ! ! !
Too much coddling of the coaches and players. You'll always shame anyone that would suggest constructive criticism of the team. This team had flaws all year long, everyone just kept saying how great they were. The media needs to stop kissing arse and start asking the hard questions.
It’s time to embrace who we are as a team… We have a silver bullet defense and a finesse team on offense🤷♂️ let’s stop trying to be something we aren’t and embrace who we are. Go Bucks!
Zach trying to write off this loss if we win the natty. That's BS. This was the worst loss I can remember in my lifetime. Losing to this version of Michigan is unbearable. Should have never happened.
If the GAME means what we claim it means then they have to fire Ryan Day. Cooper got 13 years. Day has lost 4 in a row and the AD says, "he's our coach!" Well he's not my coach and I don't need to see anymore
The BOD can step in and fire RD. They have more power than The AD. When they struggle in the playoffs or are 1 n done then maybe he changes his mind. I think that is "vote of confidence" before he could be gone!
The coaches let down their players. Period. I’m not judging Day based on an arbitrary expectation, but based in what Day has said. 3 expectations - Michigan, Big10 and Championship. There is nobody doing any real job, with only 3 expectations, who would keep their jobs after missing badly 4 years in a row. If you can, your a meteorologist or work for the government.
50 Seconds Left/No Timeouts: Need EXPLOSIVE PLAYS ASAP - TE G. Scott on field running routes⁉️😳 OSU Coaches need to put best players on field in CFBP, period, both RB’s & 4th WR, etc…NOT TE’s‼️
I don’t think the Natty trumps this loss at all. The Natty only means beating other teams, but not the team that we want to beat the most. Bottom line is that there are other head coaches out there that given these players, they would have beat TTUN. Even the “Google me” coach would have done it. Heck, he did it even without our talented roster, as did several other coaches this season. Day needs to go.
Delusional. If you care more about beating them than a natty you don't get what this sport is. Rent free tbh. If they told me you will lose to Michigan but get a natty I'm taking that deal every year
@ really? You think so? Ask the players themselves how they feel about that comment and I bet some of them would even say themselves they’d rather beat TTUN in certain circumstances. Ask em how they feel after the game and Moore says in his interview “This is why you go to Xichigan! or turns around and yells at our crowd, “We Own You!”. I may be delusional according to you, and don’t know what this game is about but I don’t see Cody crying after losing the Natty but I do see him crying after this game. Maybe you don’t know the importance of winning this game.
@@carreralicious that was in the old system. where losing the game knocked you out of the 4 team playoff. you have to adjust your feelings now that it's a 12 team. everything has changed. Ohio State still has a shot to win it all.
Let's just be honest here, the defense played GREAT, and did enough to win the game. For the offense to score 10 points against THAT team is inexcusable. Not to mention, they scored the 10 points in the 1st half. That means they did absolutely NOTHING in the entire 2nd half after going tempo and going 8 plays 75 yards to score a TD. The Buckeyes are not soft, the offensive coaches, for whatever reason, didn't use those WRs that would've done ANYTHING to get a chance in that game. That was the strength of the offense, and Chip Kelly didn't utilize them against a depleted, B rated secondary 😳 smh
Regarding the guy on the left’s comment about the buckeyes being more locked-in during the pregame than Michigan, he’s confusing their arrogance and overconfidence with readiness. He’s also incorrect about how if the buckeyes actually win the national championship everybody will forget about this loss to Michigan. That is totally wrong and there will always be a HUGE *Asterix next to this team.
You guys do realize that on the Michigan TD You keep saying it was a 2 yard run TD drive . BUT Michigan drove ALL the way down to the 2 and got stopped on 4rth so they drove the field. Howard throws int they get it back at the 2. Michigan drove the field 2 times when they needed to. That was to win the game something Ohio State can’t do
My question is, how much did Chip Kelly get paid to throw the game. Maybe Chip Kelly does not want Ryan to win. That is why he called garbage plays. Maybe he does not want Ryan to be better than him. Chip has done this in big games all year. Look at Will's answer to Austin question on the post game. Body language says it all in his response.
New format has *potentially* saved this season. I’ve been an adamant Day supporter but at this point it’s gonna take a Natty appearance at bare minimum to save his job.
Unless we can get Vrabel and gurantee roster retention. Coach talk is pointless at this point. You guys don’t realize how easy it is for this entire house of cards to collapse and be like Texas for a decade. We’d play in one or two televised games per year and you can buy the rest of them with the b10 network package. Jj smith will win a title somewhere else. Beating penn state will be a legitmate goal every year. Be very careful what you wish for.
Just promote Chip Kelly at this point. He obviously sabotaged Ohio on Saturday and he actually knows how to recruit. I get Vrabel’s an Ohio man, but his “AFC Coach of the Year” in 2021 was off the Derrick Henry effect. Chip’s proven at the college level and he’s in house, so don’t rock the boat, ya know?
@@mmatube47that roster had zero business making the playoffs consecutively. I remember the vrabel talk in 2022 going on and my vol/ titans friends down south said absolutely not. They didn’t want him to leave, much less coach a power house like Ohio state
There was ZERO excuses to lose this game. Boy did the Buckeye coaches sure screw sh!t up. This team will NOT be able to move forward from this loss as they move into the playoffs. Ryan Day consistently makes excuses. I’m done supporting him. He’s a great person but definitely has a serious issues with playing in big games, especially The Game. Also Zach STOP saying winning a championship and forgetting about this game. Do you realize you are talking about Ryan Day here… he CAN NOT coach his way to win it all. Come on, it’s over…. Very sad and time to move on from him. If he’s the coach next year, Austin and Zach will be sitting f in the same spots a year later talking about what the F_CK went wrong AGAIN for a 5th time. Will that be enough then…??? 🤦♂️
The past few Michigan losses were explainable. Cheating Michigan .. and the worst OSU QB in the past 20 years only losing by 6. But this loss .. with the talent, their best DB out, etc etc .. will leave a major stain on the season .. winning the natty or not. Ryan Day lost this game. No one else.
@@Golfing422 '21 and '22. My point is that sign stealing can be used as a legitimate excuse for losing. (If it didn't help, then why did Michigan bother?) But Saturday's loss has no excuse. Day played right into the hands of their strength .. instead of using his team's own strengths. And he lost .. no excuses.
@ He wasn’t around for 21, just 22. Those teams were good, much better than this year’s. Id let all that stuff go because it’s not being honest with yourself. In 21, Michigan lined up and ran Ohio State over with Hassan Haskins the same way they did in 96. Ohio State has to go back to the Bonzai Wells method. Tressel had it figured out.
@@Golfing422 Cool. I'm not trying to argue the specifics of when Stallions was around. But you're missing the point. The "excuses" Day could make for the past few years of losses to UM. This year, he has none. Only his own hubris. And you're absolutely wrong about how he can and should defeat UM. Just be the team he's built .. and use the same style of play-calling that saw him beat UM as OC under Urban and in his first year as HC. Go around the other team's strength .. as any decent good coach game plans for the opposing team. That is where the big time OSU advantage is .. at WR, especially with UM's best DB out. Also, try running wide, and not straight up the middle. You do not try to run through two future 1st round picks .. with a make-shift, two best O-linemen out, O-line. Go around them. Go over them. Duh.
You guys are saying the same as what I’ve been hearing around Columbus for years now: Stop trying to out-tough Michigan. You don’t have to. Ohio State is a Ferrari, not a bulldozer. They have arguably the best WR coach in the entire nation and that should be used
I don't understand they went up tempo and had success throwing the ball at the end of the 1st half. Why not go back to that. Screens where working as well. Some wide receiver screen or bubble screens. Running back .
I don’t know if they can win in the playoffs, unless Day has a life-changing REAL epiphany. He has a history of not being able to get out of these slumps, mentally.
If I was Coach Day , I would be tell my coaches you and I didn’t do their job on Saturday. I’d tell the staff that we’re going to make a run to the championship, we’re going to be physical, more physical than we showed in THEGAME , we better or they’ll be some changes. We have the most talented players and we didn’t show it. Now we will, we WILL!!
That rushing stat about the winning team wins the rushing battle is ridiculous (at least from the point of view that we must win the rushing game even if it involves running the ball into a brick wall). We could have scored a few more touchdowns and made UM abandon the run and start throwing the ball, which is their freaking weakness. If necessary, we could have piled on more touchdowns or tried to run the ball to our heart's content later in the game when it was out of reach (BTW, a touchdown on our first drive would have put this game out of reach for UM).
Exactly. The real stat: 100% of the time, the team who scores the most points wins The Game. I am still dumbfounded at the coaching - the worst HC performance Ive ever seen from OSU and I witnessed the Cooper years…
Top 10 losses since 1990... if not all time. These come to mind, in no particular order: 1. 1995 vs. TCUN 2. 1996 vs. TCUN 3. 1998 vs. MSU 4. 2006 Natty vs. Florida 5. 2013 B1G Champ vs. MSU 6. 2015 vs. MSU 7. 2019 Fiesta Bowl vs. Clemmie 8. 2022 Peach Bowl vs. UGA-ly 9. 2024 vs. TCUN 10. ? 2021, 2022, 2023 vs. TCUN?
People are acting like OSU didn't throw the ball. They threw it 33 times and ran the ball 26 times. Michigan was playing soft in an umbrella coverage to take away the deep pass. People laughed when Day said the wind was blowing but that is a factor in downfield passes. The ball would not even stay on the T for kickoffs it was so windy. If Day would have tried to force the long ball the quarterback, who already probably had a concussion, would likely have been knocked out of the game and it's likely a few more passes would have been intercepted. Then people would be screaming, what was Day thinking throwing into that coverage? I don't think he can win with the Ohio media and fan base. He made a solid coaching decision in trying to run the ball to force Michigan out of that coverage but his players could not execute. That's it in a nutshell.
With the trend in O line decline over the past 3 to 4 years, this should not be a surprise, with an early exit from the playoffs quite likely. Zone blocking, especially stepping left continues to leave our running game vulnerable where the bad habits developed in zone bleed over into non-zone schemes. Our big guys surrender leverage early and often, especially in zone schemes against fundamentally sound D lines, where they let defenders under their pads standing them up and on their heels, where our guys get into wrestling matches just trying to shield their opponents from the running lane. Defensive penetration, TFLs, and little to no downfield push are often the result. Hinzman 'at left guard' is the only one I could see who was strong enough to consistently get away with this. Also, note that the shorter more compact transfer from Alabama at center was the only one that I can see who consistently does not let anyone get under his pads. No doubt losing him hurt. This coaching staff puts these young men at an immediate disadvantage in recruiting and development before the ball is even snapped. It starts with the obsession with tall and supposedly more athletic "professional" body type and blocking techniques that are difficult in establishing and maintaining leverage for most kids just out of high school.
The TTUN. cheated in several of those last four games. You can’t hold Ryan accountable for that crap. Day has five years left on his contract, he will leave before he has let go.
At around the 7:20 mark, what Zach said is the pinpoint reason. Day’s pride and belief only allowed him to picture a win IF they won the rushing yards. He’s echoed this for weeks. DUDE, they have the 2 best DTs in America. Ryan’s need to run the ball, even though it was completely ineffective outside the speed option that works every freakin time, was the dagger. It’s like he couldn’t comprehend that they could attack outside or deep to free up some space and run better. He truly has an ego issue since being called not tough that he tries SO HARD to prove he is, even if it costs his team football games. It’s simple as that folks. Yes the players have to execute, but they can execute a scheme within reason, and not one based on total insanity!
Silver lining: Opportunity to heal and get things in order to deal with the playoffs. I think they should stop zone run blocking. Work on misdirection and pulling lineman or sweeps for running. Also use short passes, draws or screens to manufacture run like plays. Most definitely live and die with the pass. Also playing away and going to a southern away game might relieve the pressure and not have to deal with potentially bad weather so that there will be no external factors in disrupting the passing offense. Loss is done, for this season focus on the natty.
The only way for Buckeye Nation to get their point across about Day, is to boycott. Stop buying over priced tickets (especially those that they consider worth more, such as the TTUN tickets, "joke") Once the Athletic Department feels the hurt in their wallets, they will get the message. Honestly Day has been giving chance after chance. Urban did him an injustice by giving him the keys to the Buckeye Machine, because he was too young and not experienced enough. And unless you are born into Ohio and the culture, or played on the team and have been inducted into it, just saying you understand the culture is not the same. I'm 69 yrs old, and have followed the Buckeyes since 1966, so I have seen a lot of coaches and different coaching styles. Coach Day is, and will be very good coach one day. But OSU was not a place for him to cut his teeth as a head coach. The greatest injustice of the whole matter is how he has let the players down , by only not beating TTUN, but by such showings like against Missouri last season to name a few. No , your not going to win them all, but at least look like you have your team ready to do so. Saturdays showing was the worst defeat to TTUN , taking the place of the 69 defeat I witnessed. For the good of the players, the program and all of Buckeye Nation, not to mention coach Day, there should be parting of the ways. The opinion of an old Buckeye fan.
Buckeye Scoop reported Ryan Day was heavily involved in the game plan last week. Past Michigan and other big games (Notre Dame, PSU, etc) also show Day tried to use his ego driven "tough guy" tactic of trying to run a smash-mouth offense. So, reports say .. and history .. the fault of this game plan and loss is on Ryan Day .. not Chip Kelly.
Zach, you're mentality is awful. Ryan Day is hurting this program. Can you not see that? SMU is in the CFP too. Making the CFP is the LEAST Ohio State should do! ANY credible HC at Ohio St. would make the CFP. If this loss does not lead you two (Autin & Zach) to call for Day's dismissal then you have zero credibility, zero. Is pleasing JE THAT important?!
These guys are gonna get wrecked in the playoff. That game was just like the mizzou game last year pathetic. Day needs to start packing. Keeping cooper that long didn’t help and it won’t help now.
My question is how Day doesnt seem to know how to get a better olone coach or oline every year the oline stinks especially in The Game its frustrating!
UM fan here and my take on firing Day. Perhaps some Ohio State fans have forgotten Harbaugh went 0-5 against OS his first five years. His record against arch-rival Michigan State during the time wasn't much better, and he didn't approach the winning percentage Day had in a comparable time frame. But calls for his firing didn't reach a crescendo until his sixth year, the Covid year, when we didn't even play OS (it was cancelled) because of his dreadful record that year, a real nadir in UM history. But Warde Manual stuck with him despite deafening calls for Harbaugh's removal, and, as we all know, the rest is history -- three straight OS wins, culminating in a National Championship (stop with the cheating argument, it's getting old). Now, maybe Michigan is so into Day's head getting rid of him may be the only answer. That's up to the management. But not many coaches with his winning record get fired. Then again this is Ohio Sate, who is so Michigan obsessed they even have a "The Game" countdown clock in their facility...lol. They also have one the the best and most consistently excellent football programs in the country. I really don't think plugging in another head coach will diminish their overall dominance. They will always out recruit and outspend UM and fill their roster with more 5 and 4-star talent. I'm actually surprised they haven't won more Nattys with the roster they field every year. I think UM has done a better job of coaching our recruits into playing above their ratings the past few years, but that's a never-ending slog that's not guaranteed to continue. It depends on the coaches doing it, and that changes with each new regime. I for one will revel and appreciate the past four years of UM rivalry dominance, but also know the long, dark, lean years from 2000-2020, when Ohio State cleaned our clocks. To my fellow UM fans, those days can always return, so enjoy the current streak, but don't be too smug over it.
How many of Harbaugh teams during those 5 years had better talent than OSU? Your statement is a false narrative you are trying to spend. Thosr that know know. Day is not it if you want to be at the top. If you want to be 11-1 -,10-2 then keep Day.
@@zacharreknown5126 Baloney. If your argument is based solely on talent then UM shouldn't have won the past 4 years either, since OS has always out-recruited Michigan. You're the one trying to spin.
Who was calling the offense Chip or Ryan? Did Chip call a terrible game? Did Chip call a terrible game and Ryan covering for his coach. Did Ryan over ride Chip and the playcalling is on Day. Media not asking tough questions makes it tougher.
All week I was worried about OSU being over confident and I thought the game would be much closer than predicted, but I figured the Buckeyes would win by about 10 simply with far superior talent. But that play calling was atrocious; how do you not throw all day against that team? Frankly, I think that Oregon is a pretty clear favorite to win it all at this point.
This loss is on Ryan day, his two best friends and his mediocre transfer qb. Michigan had 2 good players that you needed to avoid but these fools couldn't figure that out. Another wasted roster.
I will listen to Zach and former Buckeye players, that played in this Rivalry, not fans or x ttun fans that think they know,,, have they even played football in college??? I played softball for Army, after serving my country! Go Army! Bucks still in play-offs, Lets Go Buckeyes!
Going into this game, I expected a few coaching fires and some heavy recruiting, instead, we got a win! Extra credit for effort and poor coaching by Ohio. 4 in a row. Will be over 2000 days since Ohio has tasted victory over Michigan next season!
We play better on the road. With home games our players have too many distractions (e.g. girl friends, family, etc.). We produced more offense, played much better at Oregon, at Northwestern, at Michigan State and at Penn State. Our first game in CFP game should be on the road. Players bond together when playing on the road. Fans only helped us in the game against Indiana. 2. The weather was a factor. Our passing game requires ideal weather conditions. There was a sudden, extreme drop in temperature with heavy winds. Some of our new, key players are from the southern states, not used to cold and wind. 3. Was Will Howard's injury a factor? Did he lose his confidence? Was that why we chose not to pass in second half? 4. Every team has weaknesses. Our weakness were exposed in games against Nebraska, Penn State and Indiana. 5. We forget, but we had already lost 2 starting linemen. 6. NIL has brought parity. OSU can no longer monopolize the talented players. 7. Michigan had nothing to lose. They were relaxed.
What is truly frustrating is no one in the media will go at Ryan Day and make him answer tough questions.
They don’t want to be benched (lose their credentials) like Hinzman for speaking their mind.
They're scared of Jerry Emig. Representing the fanbase is not the goal.
Thinking that firing Day is more "negative" than "positive" is as wrong-headed as can be. Unreal. That's as weak as can be.
When you’ve spent years shining, polishing, and kissing his a$$, it’s hard when you have to admit it’s actually an a$$.

Trying to be tough.... pass the ball!
Not the kids fault... bad play calling is bad play calling and that needs to stop.

You don't.
Ryan Day failed his players and failed the fanbase with his “gameplan”. Michigan has ruined Day mentally and I’m not sure he can recover.
Yep; in the whole history of the rivalry, the team with more points always wins. Doesn't matter how you score them.
if they passed the ball they would have carved them up

@Buckeyeforlife-z9f it absloutely is. It's in his head. Bitchagan stinks. No way they should have been able to hang with us
It is the worst since 1995-1996.

@@Italk2loud uh no, I lived through all that. Those are even close to this loss. UM was bad this year (just like a Purdue) they had 2 of their best players out. OSU is a top 3 roster in CFB, at home. Scared of middle of the feild. Let’s throw slants and get picked twice.

Texas Washington and Indiana showed you how to beat Michigan, and Day and Chip had too much pride to say, "Let's win the game with our wideouts we're we have the advantage. That alone tells me this coaching doesn't want to do whatever it takes to win, and that is sad
Yep wanted to be physical 😂
@chrisluck1369 I have lost all trust and faith in Ryan Day
The fact is, that they could have signed the Lou Groza award winner from Miami of Ohio.

I just don't understand why Ryan Day Decided that they were gonna try to out physical Michigan.
You guys have all that talent at the wide receiver position. We could tell by the end of the first quarter that the Ohio State running game was going to be marginally best.
I was sitting at home just waiting for Ohio State to start throwing the ball all over the field, and you never did
That's on the head coach.
Bc he is not wise
We learned that Day is selfish and immature. He cared more about being “tough” than winning. You can’t have a guy like that lead the program.
Ryan day isn’t winning a national title; stop the gaslighting Austin. This is a fantasy podcast

Why is Chip Kelly not talking..he owes the fans some explanation
This was Ryan Day's game plan .. not Chip Kelly's.
This seemed to have Ryan’s fingerprints all over it. His obsession with proving toughness by running it over and over at TTUN’s strength lost this game. He failed his players and failed the fanbase.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that was all Ryan Day
Because he's cashing in this morning in Vegas!
Hey beat writers, how about drilling down on Wed asking Charmin Day, who called the offense and why we continued to run at their strongest spot on the team?
As Kirk Barton said the worst game plan he has seen by OSU. Continually running right up the middle, trying to prove your tough.

Because he's butthurt at being called soft over the past 4 years so he wanted to prove something but all it ended up doing was proving that he's soft
I know Ohio state has the players but, the question is we don’t have the coaches for sure.
UM had one strength - D-Line. OSU had one weakness - O-Line. WHY - WHY - WHY would you INTENTIONALLY commit to that match-up?
Because some people are more concerned with how their enemies perceive them than they are with winning, when they think winning is inevitable.

You guys do realize that on the Michigan TD
You keep saying it was a 2 yard run TD drive .
BUT Michigan drove ALL the way down to the 2 and got stopped on 4rth so they drove the field.
Howard throws int they get it back at the 2.
Michigan drove the field 2 times when they needed to. That was to win the game something Ohio State can’t do
Win the recruiting battle! Win the title or at least a couple playoff games and things will be better. No sky falling in.

They didn’t want him to leave, much less coach a power house like Ohio state
No surprise here. Fire Day. Promote Walton. Fire Bengals front office. #letsgoreds
Wow! I expected "Fire & Brimstone" from Zach. More excuses for Day? I'm done with Day!
Both losses fall squarely on the coaching staff. In-game time coaching. In every other aspect of coaching A, on the field D minus.
Stallions was only around this game in 22, and they lost because they couldn’t tackle. I’d get over the cheating assumption.
Duh.
Buckeyes please get blown out in the first game so we can rid the team of Day Kelly and Frye.
You guys are saying the same as what I’ve been hearing around Columbus for years now: Stop trying to out-tough Michigan. You don’t have to. Ohio State is a Ferrari, not a bulldozer. They have arguably the best WR coach in the entire nation and that should be used
everyone saying the natty doesn’t matter will be the same people celebrating if they win it all.
Too true
I don't understand they went up tempo and had success throwing the ball at the end of the 1st half. Why not go back to that. Screens where working as well. Some wide receiver screen or bubble screens. Running back .
Because Chip and Ryan are morons
It is dumb when your pass game puts up 21-28 points. Run all you want but it's got to equal that
Exactly. The real stat: 100% of the time, the team who scores the most points wins The Game. I am still dumbfounded at the coaching - the worst HC performance Ive ever seen from OSU and I witnessed the Cooper years…
OSU's defense shut down one of the worst offenses in the country. Michigan shut down one of the best!
The ONLY unanswered question is: WHY have Ryan Day and Chip Kelly NOT BEEN FIRED YET?
FIRE DAY! RJT OSU 66 Veteran

1. 1995 vs. TCUN
2. 1996 vs. TCUN
3. 1998 vs. MSU
4. 2006 Natty vs. Florida
5. 2013 B1G Champ vs. MSU
6. 2015 vs. MSU
7. 2019 Fiesta Bowl vs. Clemmie
8. 2022 Peach Bowl vs. UGA-ly

Lost $$$ on this game but doubling down on the playoff. This loss is what they needed. I see a run to the championship. This is not over.
The TTUN. cheated in several of those last four games.
Don’t listen to those fools! They have blown Chip Kelly as a guru and he isn’t…
Fun Fact: In the last 4 4th quarters against ○hio, Michigan has rushed for 394 yards and 6.7 yards per carry. The more you know.
