Everyone's talking about the DDD redesign, but I just love the subtle details they added, like the grass being blown through the air as the warp star flies by, or how enemies are hit towards the screen with the ultra abilities similar to screen KO's in SSB.
I love pear ddd
and the character’s cel shading ♥️
@@rayman3isthegoat I'm still a bit indifferent about the cell shading, but its kind of nice.
I like the small features it adds but that thick black border around each of the characters is kinda off putting
@@rayman3isthegoat there is no cell shading it’s just a black outline
0:42 dedede made me laugh so hard! He goes from “yea! Let’s do this! Power of friendship!” To “I’m so high right now. Who even are you?”
the characters that present the most changes are DDD and Metaknigth since their designs in the switch version present more details and are more stylized, I like that they have kept the effect of rainbow explosion when projectile stars collide or break so they feel more powerful
new ddd looks like ass too
i mean it not that bad, but old ddd still better
I like that they gave some color to the other dimension, it's going to make those sections feel more unique from each other
I really like the old black and white more than the new color one. The black and white made it that much more interesting to play
@@starcraftgem I agree that B&W is better in my opinion, moreover since the other dimension would get colors, as soon as the mini boss were beaten. Overall, I think this remake looks cute, and the game is still top notch, but it doesn't make the Wii version totally obsolete.
@@starcraftgem it makes it feel more distinct and unique imo, even tho the Switch version does look nice.
@@starcraftgemI agree. Rly peeved about that
Return to Dream Land was my literal first proper Kirby game, so glad it’s gotten a neat remake
It's a remaster, no remake. I don't get, why people get this wrong all the time?
@@SONGOKU02 imma remaster ur mum
@@AwesomeSuaceable woa, why so toxic, btw, she is in her 70s and had a stroke two years ago.... A remaster would be awesome, tbh...
@@SONGOKU02 because the difference between the two are not mentioned hardly ever.
@@zadock6370 The word themself tell you what they are. O.o i never understood the problems.
This comparison is really helpful. Thanks to this, even though I am Japanese, I was able to understand the difference between the original work and this remake. thank you🥰
That's fantastic! Thanks for sharing with us!
あなたは日本語を話すですか?僕が話さない。
I like how you made both title cutscenes transition into each other
I love how rather than just updating the graphic but actually altered the design but keeping the same feel
i prefer wii dedede but everything else is really nice in the more recent style
I can't get over how vibrant the colots are and the outlines are a nice bonus.
If you keep the Magolor assist mode on, Magolor will be there for the drive.
This reminds me of the GBA remaster of Kirby's Adventure. Those backgrounds were super detailed and gorgeous.
Nightmare in Dreamland is one my favorite GBA titles
i like the old dedede design a bit more than the new one but that might just be me
A simple soultion would be to round the head akin to his older design to the new design. Zimilar to a snowman man from two snow balls, one smaller the other bigger.☃
it takes some getting used too tbh
This is The old design
Nah I agree but I like club penguin dedede too
This is the old design. They switched back to it for forgotten land. It's not a redesign.
I think the outlines on the characters are a little excessive and unnecessary, but not inherently bad. If it were an original game I wouldn't mind, but as a remaster I think it's a decision that makes the game's visuals feel a little too detached from the original. I also really don't like the way King Dedede's face looks now, but that's just been his character design for the last few years.
Besides that, I think everything else is an objective improvement. I could see some people who played the original not liking how different the color palette is in some spots, but I like it. I appreciate that all the aesthetic changes they've made seem to be to make the game more artistically expressive, rather than just trying to add more effects and visual flares like most remasters do.
The outlines are the perfect touch
I agree, i liked the wii original without the outlines. Looks kinda stupid with. I mean, kirby's Dreamland 3 didn't have such thick outlines. And Kirby 64 set the standard - none for 3D Kirby please.
Anyone complaining about Dedede's "new" design clearly has never played Kirby 64.
Nah he looks way better there than here
OR they just dont like the design? They could of never liked the 64 design ether.
Who cares about the n64 design? What about you? Did you play kirby super star?
Or literally any other kirby games
@@FlynnHutchinson2000 he said people saying the "new" design
0:19 Ah yes. Kirby’s Return to DEL Land
XDD
Ah yes dell land the microprocessor universe
Kirby's
Return to I
DEL i Land
A ss 2
That sounds like a game I’d play lol
Since I got this game on pre order I'll get it day one
And man I can't wait because this will be a nostalgia trip
I didn't know there was such a huge difference..
the Wii game looked waaaay better in my memory.
It still looks pretty good for a wii game
Yea the wii version still has remnants of the more toned down aesthetics from the mid to late 2000s, in games like air ride, as well as the beta footage for all the cancelled gamecube games, the colours were very toned down compared to other Kirby games, sort of like super smash bros brawl, the darker, grittier, more realistic Look was kind of the thing every Franchise went for In the mid 2000s, they didn’t truly move away from that look until the 3ds era.
the new game is how i remember the old game, and i love that so much
Same here. I was shocked to see how "old" the original looks when compared to the remaster!
I love watching the beginning cutscene and seeing Dedede cycle through his designs, it's funny to see him go through the design I like (current) and the one everyone else likes
i like dededes current design nothing will top his Original Wii one but the new one is starting to grow on me
@DigitalPyro_HD the main difference is the fact that Dedede is a lot chunkier compared to the RTDL design. Along with the smaller face and lack of neck
Only nine more days left! I’m so excited!
I’ve been listening to the soundtrack to this game everyday for the past 5 years. So happy they are remaking the best Kirby game ever made
I prefer the original game’s art style, but rtdldx’s art style is good too.
the characters were WAY more expressive in the original game. Kirby's face is stretched and his eyes never seem to actually look at you. Dedede seems constantly high.
You clearly haven't seen the new super ability transformations
@@Snsy I DO have seen them, but I've seen the rest of the cutscenes too. I mean, the thumbnail is the perfect example; can you feel that adorable look from the Wii version p e n e t r a t i n g y o u r s o u l
@@-caninestarwarriors-3547 i think your just being really nitpicky, kirbys model in this game is used from forgotten land which was already a very expressive and flexible model
Oh wow. 😀 I missed this on Wii but I think the new art actually just convinced me to try it out
Who else absolutely loves Landia’s redesign? He actually has scales now! It’s beautiful
This comparison proove that I have right! If I should details about the Wii Classic of Kirby Return to Dreamland Vs Nintendo Switch Deluxe version: The Deluxe version suffer of a lack of color by see the background who is less colorfull than the Wii version as you can see at 0:00, Dedede 64 modern face in Deluxe who is still ugly despite people already complain about it in Forgotten Land but Nintendo/Hal Laboratory didn't care about what their own community say (as usual) while the Wii version still have his cute face that everyone love (if they do another Smash Bros game I really hope it will still be the same cute face and not the ugly 64 face), those useless black line arround characters in Deluxe who are ugly and it more worse in cutscenes when we see background didn't have any black lines unlike the Wii classic version who don't have ugly black lines arround characters but, actually, I think those black lines would fit better if Nintendo/Hal Laboratory wasn't too much lazy and redone in fully all the Return to Dreamland game into a animated serie style graphics like cartoon or something similar and there the black line would be interesting but for a simple port of a old Wii game without anything who change about graphics style except made others things worse, sorry but it don't fit with the game.
For concluate: Don't buy the Deluxe version if you have a Wii or Wii U because I suggest you to buy the Classic game on the Wii who is better and who have a price who is less expensive than the Deluxe version if you search on internet. If I should say something positive, I like the idea of more mini game in the Deluxe version and the Magolor side story despite I was very disapoint about the ending scene of Magolor side story since I was hoping to see Magolor with Kirby at the end with Kirby who forgive Magolor and nope, not a such scene like that. Too bad that Nintendo have killed this Deluxe version. Just like Gamefreak, Hal Laboratory should take somes lessons from the Metroid Prime Remaster creators about how to do a beautifull remake game because by do a comparison with Metroid Prime Remaster, this game is more beautifull than the original game on the GCN and Wii and, even if they redone boss, ennemy, background, characters and more, at least it still beautifull and more better on the Switch than the GCN and Wii. But I'm still disappoint about Nintendo who ask somes bad quality remake and who accept them. If the goal was to do a bad remake of Return to Dreamland, instead throw the monney by window and waste their time for nothing, it would be better that they do another Star Fox, Kid Icarus and F-Zero game on Switch since we still don't have any of them yet in 6 years of the Switch existence since Nintendo is always focus about grab monney games such as Pokemon with his last episode in 2022 who was very hated because the graphics, glitch and more or about Fire Emblem with the last game named Engage who was so hated by the frenchy for the english dub that thay have hated unlike previous games and complain about how the game seem too much fan service than anything else and that the first expensive DLC was a garbage or about Splatoon 3 about people who think it's just a recycled Splatoon 2 game with not much new stuff for made him different as if the real goal of Splatoon 3 is to sell it just for the monney.
Too bad that modern Nintendo players only swear with just grab monney games and bad quality remake games instead want various good quality games and good remake quality games like in the past when Iwata was still alive. After all, nobody care that Nintendo still didn't made the real Mario Kart 9 on the Switch instead add new content stuff for a old Wii U game ported on Switch. If it's this that Nintendo community really want about games on consoles, then the Nintendo Switch gonna be my last Nintendo console that I will buy because what the point to buy their future next console if it's for be in front of a Nintendo Switch 2 about the game list if full of Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Splatoon grab monney games and remakes game with half of them who are bad while others serie like Metroid, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Pikmin and else appear very rarely or never?
i wasnt liking the black outline of the characters, but the more I look at it the more it seems better and fitting for a remake of this game.
My hot take is if they did not have outlines and add color to Another Dimension, I would have vastly preferred the Switch version.
Even Sakurai had a toggle in Sm4sh 3DS for the outlines and I'm sure he would have added the option here if he still made Kirby. And Another Dimension is conceptualized as blank space until completion, so it is literally removing context from the story by starting it in color.
Again, if you like the game, godspeed. But the second one especially kills it for me and makes the Wii original age much better to me. And that is me counting the vanilla experience, mind you.
If I factor in the Switch version with mods, they remove the outlines and return the grayscale appearance to Another Dimension. This is what I consider to be the best version of Return to Dream Land.
Oh, and yeah, I never mentioned Dedede. I actually like the redesign personally since it gives him more character and reminds me of his original artwork and Meta Knight looks fantastic. I genuinely have no problems there.
本家もリメイクも良いですね!!
Dedede has a very "people loved Pikachu's old chunky design, so we didn't use the design they loved but decided we knew how to make it even better!" energy.
They did DDD dirty man. It made sense for him to look more serious in The Forgotten Land, but they did him dirty
Am I the only one who thinks the original's art style looks better
yeas and they didnt make dededde overweight!
If the characters were shaded in the levels and didn’t look like stickers on the screen all the time I would like the deluxe version more
Gotta admit, disappointed the Void area now has colors, kinda lost the Kirby's Dreamland vibes without the grayish style.
Overall the game looks neat
The Other Dimension looks a whole lot better in my opinion
Agreed
1. The outlines need to go
2. Dedede looks like his face was widened and stretched. His eyes and beak need to go back to normal. He looks like he drank 4 twisted teas.
3. Everything else is fine
4. Note that the Wii graphics are a little better at the moment
I got Kirby returns to dream land on the Wii u a year ago (digital) and I just think the visuals are cuter than the black outline style
My only complain with ddd's mew design is the fact that he has no neck, i think that's what makes him look so off, the face is just fine, and kinda fits him but the lack of neck just makes him look completly different
My first Kirby game was triple deluxe on the 3DS. I’ve purchased every game in the series that’s released since! I’ve really enjoyed planet robobot, forgotten land, and Star Allies! Even though return to dream land is a remaster, it’s like a new Kirby game for me! It’s been so fun!
You need to play amazing mirror and nightmare in dreamland
@@maccamachine how can I play them? Are they available on 3DS or switch?
@@Aniboiii5600ah they are GBA games (Emulation). Also since you said you started from the 3ds games so I assume you haven't tried the ds ones (squeak squad and superstar ultra) which are also really good!
Such a beautiful visual difference I love it so much!!!
I haven’t played this game in a while, even though I haven’t got the Switch version. I like how the Deluxe makes the game look more like a fairytale, especially with how everything looks painted or drawn with crayons.
I have no nostalgia toward this game since I never played any kirby games before, but I personally prefer the style of the one on the wii
Same. Probably because it harkens back to the old art style and visuals of Nintendo games from the GC/Wii era. It just has that vibe
It's okay that I dislike the 64 dedede design they went with for him in the remake, right..?
Damn they did a phenomenal job with the remaster!! Holycrap
I love this trend of stylizing 3D and making everything bolder and more colorful after years of diminishing returns on trying to make 3D rendering more “realistic.” The original looks like the first Puss in Boots and the remake looks a bit like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
I wonder if the toon outlines were added to make the game more readable on the Switch’s smaller handheld mode screen, similar to the 3DS version of Smash 4?
I hate 3D ashamed of being itself and pretending to be 2D. I love 3D animation, Spy Kids 3D being my favourite movie, so it's a shame we are living in a downfall of "proper" 3D. Guess I'll wait till it becomes retro like 8-bit and PS1 ascetics, but right now I'm not happy with how Spider-Verse looked despite liking the movie otherwise.
@@genyakozlov1316 One thing I’m not a huge fan of in current stylized 3D cartoons is deliberately lowering the frame rate, often in a way that makes it look like a poorly-optimized video game port or a buffering online video instead of the deliberate artistic choice it is. That’s the one advantage 3D definitely has over 2D, you can do high framerates that are impossible to do in a reasonable amount of time with traditional frame-by-frame drawing, like 120 frames per second.
Good news for you is that I don’t see more-realistic 3D going away anytime soon on the more powerful Xbox and PlayStation consoles, since it is the only way to even take advantage of 50% of the graphical grunt of modern hardware. Stylized art styles in Switch games is usually a necessity since the little hybrid console can’t do realistic graphics and large, detailed textures nearly as well as the PS4, let alone the PS5.
I honestly don’t mind the DDD redesign, I actually kinda prefer it, especially since it feel more detailed in a certain way, but that’s just me
If it weren't for the colors being more vibrant, I personally wouldn't be able to tell which one is the newer version.
The outlines...
@@gerardonavarro3400 I've never even seen the wii version, so that to me is just stylized differently.
I mean they look similar to an extent but there’s clearly a lot more detail in the stages, added color depth and shading, better lighting/particle effects and higher res models.
WHO DARES TO DISS PEAK DEDEDESIGN?!
I wish we had the opening of wii version as an extra stuff to unlock
Whoa, that's a proper remaster!
Seems the wii version looks more HD but the switch version have more details. Each have its own appeal.
😱🤯 oh Wow - but King DDD's look 😵💫
Bro they made dedede look like Amongus 😭
Honestly this cell shade style is the way kirby should go.
This is no Digital Foundry Tech Review, but your video editing and choice of scenes was very smart!
You've got a good eye/talented there.
Subscribed ❤
What editing software did you use? Holy fuck
i kinda think it wasn’t necessary to do a remaster, the graphics were already gorgeous but maybe it’s just me
both versions are very beautiful
the switch version reminds me of smash 4 3ds visual style
They should’ve went with the smash bros dedede
Idk i like the forgotten dedede better he gives a unique villian vibe but i do like the og too
@@terriflattIt’s not bad I just really like the smash ultimate Dedede
I love the aesthetic of it
They did something to the visual style, it's now harder on the eyes. The Wii colors felt more natural, and so did the brightness and the lighting in general. Some parts look better in the remake but overall they just take a style that was already simple and try to make it simpler. What's with the outlines? Why don't the models between the background and foreground look like they belong in the same world. They don't blend together as they should. They look super imposed.
I'm sure the outlines are to cover up the fact they can't actually make the original look better on switch
Really well done comparison dudes
I like the background and color in the switch more but I hate the character outline in switch
I prefer the original, mainly because of the authenticity that was in it
Anyone else a little upset that they removed the gray scale aesthetic from the Doomer levels?
I like the game and all, but even with some new modes, and visual changes, 60 bucks (if you're in the USA) is a bit much for a remaster.
I love how they made the graphics for the switch look like a 3ds game
*how you remember 3ds games looking
3DS games were CHUNKY.
@@quadpad_music what I mean is that they added a black outline to the characters, and some 3ds games had black outlines on characters, right?
i just wish they kept the black and white sequence cuz that was cool
Why peopple hating abou dedede and the outlines?
Idon't see nothing wrong with it and is not easy to make a perfect game.
The old dedede is so much better
Bruh they done shrunk dededes head 😭💀
Theres a few changes i like and dislike but my biggest dislike is that kirby doesnt say “HIYA!!” Anymore when it gets a super ability :(
I grabbed this on WiiU eshop a couple months ago. The new version definitely looks better, but not $40 better.
They added alot of new things to it that make it worth the price
@@Molten2004 No doubt, but if I just want to play the main game, I can’t justify the price increase. I don’t feel like the improvements and extra content are a full $60 on this one.
@@jamiepogue6024 idk man. Personally, I think what they added is really cool, but that's just my opinion
Ignore my name and picture.
The differencess:
1. Better graphics
2. Logo design
3. Cool outline
4. More Copy abilities
5. The super ability bar is slightly different
6. Adden Merry Magoland
7. Wii, switch tutorial controls
8. Masks, special item added.
Let me know if theres more different things.
¡Ya quiero pagar 60 dolares por ese juego retocado de Wii!
So far my fav Kirby eps Game.
I love the new look tbh
I didn’t like the outlines at first but now I think they look cool
The colors alone drastically improve the overall look of the game. The rest of the visual upgrades are just the icing on the cake
I miss DDD's design
どっちもめっちゃ好き
So a deluxe game is nearly the same as the original. Right?
I’m gonna be host y’all, I love the new look, I loved this game, they did geat!
I like both. I have no complains.
I'm still so salty about the fact they changed dedede's design
I think we'll get used to it with time
@@Zaqueu_Neves hell no
It's better now, wdym???
I mean it looks pretty good, but turning my boi dedede into club penguin broke me I kinda like his original, but overall it's still pretty good in remastered
@@-sleep-4541 no. it looks terrible
I always loved King DDD's design from the N64, so it's nice they're using it again (or an inspiration of it).
I'm glad that they brought this game to Switch. It's one of the best Kirby games imo
The original looks far more appealing
Chaos Man I agree and I didn't play the og haha. For me it's mainly the lighting, something about the intensity of it in the remake is an eyesore
Oh nostalgia HIT ME!!!
The switch’s visual reminds me of the super smash bros 3ds version. With the black outline
the character models look better on the old hardware.
i actually got the original version and didnt notice what it was a deluxe version XD
they massacred my boy
What the hell did they do to my boy triple D????
Fantastic remake, one of Nintendo's best
This is SO much prettier! 🤩
I think still prefer the original but I'm glad the Kirby game of my childhood is back
