This show is PERFECT, the reason people wanted more season is 1. we loved it and couldn't get enough of it. 2. we are use to shows that are unnecessary too long. Arcane gave us what needed to be said in the best way possible. people talk about "perfection" so easily ... while Arcane gave us a show that everyone else failed to do in history of TV and cinema.
@Elle-xf8mw Couldn't agree more! Edit: Wait, I actually don't think Arcane is perfect. I loved it don't get me wrong, and I believe it's a masterpiece, but perfect is a very strong word in my opinion. I can acknowledge some genuine faults in the show, which doesn't take away from it at all, but in my opinion, the perfect show has no faults whatsoever.
@Elle Glad to see the same thoughts on it. I think S2's pace was just right and intentional. A lot of content creators are easy to say that the pace was too fast and there could have been more episodes or scenes. It's just anti-climactic to slow it down on its last season. And, the Arcane creators are definitely looking at a greater and bigger picture, they won't just make this longer and put everything in this Arcane arc. I'm just grateful that we even got the chance to watch something like Arcane.
Heimerdinger is Yordle and thus immortal. When killed, Yordles eventually respawn. So he might have engineered the whole sacrifice so he could get our of going back to the worse timeline.
Not gonna lie, I had to google and check this cause I thought it was a troll lol. I hope this is where the writers were going with this cause that’s awesome if so!
@@Media_Mine actually it was hinted in the show that they going to go this way. When Heimerdinger in S1 is asked whether he does think about death his response is "Only that of friends". Very long lifespan by itself is not enough to forget about your own death possibility, at least a violent one, but respawning fits. Also in S2 before he leaves Echo in the device he says "Back in a wink", he literally promised to return and he's not exactly the type to lie, even as the last words.
@@shipso6116 This also covers a potential plot hole in Season One. In League lore Heimerdinger claims to be only three hundred years or so old but references events of the last mage war which is over a thousand years ago. This is because Heimerdinger's current incarnation might be three hundred years old but prior incarnations would have experienced the mage war.
@shipso6116 The LoL lore changes the context of everything. As someone whose never played the game or heard of these characters till now, I was clueless at these hints 😂
Cait didn't gave a look at VI and changed position, She never fully trusted or even liked Ambessa! Ambessa started to manipulate he while she had lost her mother, half of conseil were dead, Mel/ Jace and VI were gone, her city was under attack, she felt her arrogance to be able to fix things lead her mother to death Cait was alone/ devastated/angry/ felt ashamed and guilty and confused, didn't know what to do, the perfect timing for Ambessa to use her, and she went along with it, although she tried to learn from Ambessa she was always hesitant about it just didn't know what is the best to do! seeing VI, someone who loved and trusted reminded her what she was fighting for in a first place, it shook her to come out of her shell and be herself again, seeing VI was a kick she needed.
Many people say that pacing is wrong, or more episodes, longer ones could fix season 2 ... Overall something feels odd to many of us, even if we do love it, and don't think the story is wrong. In my opinion, it has to do with the beautiful but too fast and too short montages that serve as timeskips. The one from episode 3 as Cait's team fights the chembarons looking for Jinx, the one from episode 4 as the Jinxers and Zaunites in general rebel against enforcers and Noxians, and the one from episode 5 showing Vi's depressing situation. We see it, we understand it, time passes, people change, they have enough of oppression, they're hurt, they drink. But honestly, we don't feel like time has passed, at all. Not a change in the trees to say seasons passed, nobody looks a day older, no snow, no burning sun, people don't get new tattoos, new injuries, nothing. Time passed, we do know it ... yet at no point do we feel it. I think a little bit slower montages, so we don't have to pause to notice details, with more details that are consequences of time passing and events happening during that time would have helped a lot.
That’s a really good point! Whilst I speak about loving the montages, you’re right, they zoom by, with pause or you’ll miss it moments. I never thought of that but I think you’re absolutely correct
I agree, even tho I thought the lil timeskips of act 1 were ok because not that much time had passed. But the one in episode 4 on the other hand was insufficient to demonstrate the violence of the war between Zaun and piltover. Maybe the goal was to portray Zaunites more as victims, but it could have been interesting to see throughout the episode some back and forth between Zaun’s guerillas and piltover’s standing army. Afterward, I also understand why they wouldn’t go too overboard in the civil war, since they wanted to unite Zaun and piltover over a common enemy in arc 3. I still think that what happened in arc 2 undersold a little bit Caitlyn’s fascist buildup in arc1. I was promised Caesar, I got a bad guy’s lieutenant. That’s fine as well, she can be a puppet, but that puppet is still the head of state, she needs to appear like Caesar and we don’t see her wear those boots (One speech before a crowd would have made me happy). It was long but that was my thoughts on all that shtick
@leolebeau4392 A speech would've gone SOO HARD! Ending it with the salute at the end of episode 3 would've been the icing on the cake! No worries about the length of the comment by the way, I love the debate going on right now, it's the first of my videos to have a fairly active comment section and replying to ya'll is so much fun!
Caitlyn change of heart I think wasn’t when she reunited with Vi but since ep4, that scene with Maddie is her tired of the brutality and want to pull out but not without Jinx driven by spiraling hate and vengeance , her true self was later explored in the prison scene WITH JINX, Vi there was just the decision to actually turn things around
I feel like Caitlyn always was wary of Ambessa and knew that Ambessa is more or less using her. At the same time she believed that Ambessa could get things in order between Piltover and Zaun (which she kinda did). So Caitlyn let it all happen and got out of it as much as she could (like learning from her). You can tell that whenever they talked they weren't ever exactly on the same boat, Caitlyn never really wanted to just blindly follow Ambessa So that's why her going up against Ambessa to help Vi isn't really surprising
I feel episode 8 and 9 were a bit rushed. Lot of informations to digest, especially after episode 7 which was rather slow paced (but we needed it after an emotionnally charged episode 6)
Oh the rush was there for sure. That cut to mid-battle in episode 9 is very telling. I’m more upset about the rushed arcs more than anything but I still enjoyed the show
For caitlyn, I think all it would've needed is a few more scenes throughout act 2 that show her start to struggle with Ambessa's approach to leadership. Maybe she challenges Ambessa on some of her views, but Ambessa puts her back in her place. Then something similar happens again but this time Cait stands up more strongly for herself. And only THEN does she meet Vi, which turns her around all the way. - plus, meeting her could've been a more believable situation than this random encounter that we got. Something that would truely sell that Cait is turning against Ambessa is that she secretly seeks out Vi by herself. Or maybe Ambessa tries to capture Vi because she knows that Vi is caitlyn only weakness.. Something like that, that would ultimately lead to them meeting.
It makes total sense that Caitlyn would turn on Ambessa that fast since she doesn't actually knows the woman. Their partnership was purely transactional and everything she learned from Ambessa was to become more efficient in her pursuit to capture Jinx. Even so, Cait was already questioning Ambessa violent actions towards Zaun in episode 4. On the other hand, she knows and was in an actual meaningful relationship with Vi. Yes, they had a fallout, but Cait would never refuse to help her save her own father. And I also strongly believe that the scene with Singed and his daughter impacted Caitlyn's actions moving forward.
Understandable, but it would’ve helped to at least have a 20 second scene of Caitlyn in isolation and contemplate on all the choices she’s made, doubts she had, and regret for what she did to Vi. The moments of reflection didn’t even need dialogue, just simple facial expressions and gestures to imply her internal situation. I know it seems like I’m saying the audience needs to be spoon fed every detail of information, but there needs to be a good balance between what the audience needs to see and the emotional resonance of the story’s progression; all whilst keeping the audience engaged and mature enough to understand the unimportant details that don’t affect the believability for the audience to empathize with the characters in their respective situations.
I don't think it was just seeing Vi again that caused Caitlyn to flip (though hearing that Vi was trying to save her parental figure definitely would have struck a deep chord). Caitlyn had earlier confronted Singed over all the horrible stuff he's done, which he calmly explains was all "for love." I think Caitlyn probably saw more of herself in this than she was comfortable with (though the show could have made that clearer).
That’s a good point that I didn’t catch with Singed’s line! To be fair I wrote this script after only seeing the season once since I wanted to get a video up as soon as possible, so I definitely missed a few details like that that would’ve effected how I spoke about it. I still think it’s a problem though, I just think if I could make the video again I’d speak about it with more tact than I did here.

You talked about how everyone had to work for their strength, except Mel. But in that case Mel is more like Warwick/Vandog or anyone using shimmer. None of those had to work for their power, because they were created to be a weapon, which is what the Black Rose said about Mel
@dorians2138 I agree and disagree with this, respectfully of course. I agree about your point with them being created to be weapons. Where I disagree is that shimmer is a third party in those cases. Warwick/Vandog wasn't born like that. He was tortured with shimmer for years and suffered because of it. Losing himself in the process. I'd argue that torture and sacrifice is the "work" that he had to endure to get that strength and power. In regards to other shimmer users, they never worked for their power either. They took a drug and it boosted their strength but that strength is not theirs, they need the shimmer constantly for it. Mel however, was born with this power and almost immediately appears to have full mastery of her capabilities. Maybe we'll explore her discovering her strength more in the upcoming spin offs, but as it stands in season 2, it comes off as not earned compared to the other leads, in my opinion at least. Again, not trying to attack you or anything, just sharing my thoughts and opinions on the show so far.
@Media_Mine yeah, you make a good point. But I really don't think that Mel has full mastery over her powers. Most of the time it looks like she's flailing her arms, hoping to do something, and it usually is just enough for it to work. To me it really seemed like she improvises all of her movements, because she isn't really sure how to use her magic optimally. I feel like, if she had mastered her magic, she'd be way more powerful, which would explain why the Black Rose was so interested in her
@dorians2138 That’s also fair! Maybe she’ll come back and she’ll do some insane things after some years in the spin offs, in which case I’ll completely take back what I’ve said haha
@@dorians2138True, but then even if Mel wasn’t proficient and struggling to adjust herself, they could’ve shown a scene where she’d try to save someone from getting shot or stabbed but it doesn’t work and the shield flickers and breaks. Then she would have to improvise in the moment and suffer some battle scars like her mom.
@@montenegroafro4454 I agree. It would've been really great to see her try to use her magic for something like saving a soldier, but failing, because she is new to this power
They showed Mel fight with Jayce and how her powers comes out when someone is in danger . Fighting the creation Victor made. I don’t feel she could even beat her mom. Ambessa took it easy on Mel while trying to kill Caitlin. It’s Cait who gets the magic shield off Ambessa for Mel to use the necklace and then turn on the Black Rose. Mel never beats the Black Rose but sees her face and breaks the domain she has on her. Mel hardly fought but shield and faints cause it drains her power. I’m not sure why you feel like Mel is unbeatable. That would be Victor. There are also Timelapse between all arcs. And a lot of other characters suffered as a result.
@JasmineMcDowell-dx2uu I agree that there is some explanation as to how Mel discovers how powers and it being tied to the arcane, and I don't think she's unbeatable, maybe I phrased it wrong in the video, I'm not 100% sure, I recorded and edited it a while ago and I'm working on the next one so I haven't thought about it in a while. What I was trying to say is that I felt her figuring out her powers and it's multiple uses could've been explored a bit more, literally one or two more scenes would've done it for me. It just felt convenient when she would use it perfectly after only just discovering them. I understand the time skips as well, hence I mentioning the logic behind the decisions made. It just didn't feel like time had passes. Another comment here mentioned maybe using visual cues like the changing of seasons, or the development of new features on characters like scars or something would've helped and I wholeheartedly agree with that. I love her powers, I think it's awesome that she can fight and that she's so powerful. I just would've liked time to learn her powers with her I guess? I don't know maybe I'm still phrasing it wrong.
Loved season 1, but season 2 was not as enjoyable to me. Because: ** SPOILERS ** 1. The fight scenes are markedly worse. They often look like story boards and it's really hard to figure out what is going on. 2. The season could easily span 3 seasons. There are so many factions and new powers introduced that I often had no idea where they came from. Especially the black rose were a complete mystery to me having never played the game. 3. Because of the rush, the scenes change so quick and we get no sense of where in the universe these characters are now. The locations were often unclear to me. 4. Too many characters means the important characters don't get enough time for us to really care about them. 5. No reason to kill one of the main characters at the end. That's all the rage in shows since GoT, but it wasn't needed here. Still enjoyed it, but why the rush? The tempo in season 1 was great, you could have made 3 seasons with perfect pacing and it would have been great.
from every piece of media that is critiquing Arcane s2 i've watched, i'm surprised that this is the first i've seen someone FINALLY mentioned how downgraded the fightt scenes in season 2 are. way too much bullet time over actions and the movement and strikes feel less lethal and unique, i love season 1 and 2 but season 2 seems to lack some qualities from season 1. either way still an amazing series. edit: i am part of the Jamily please don't hurt me for expressing my thoguhts ngoodkdkdkdkk😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@kooijbas I wasn’t bothered by the fight scenes but I see what you mean. Vi vs Warwick was literally flashes of fight poses. I loved the poses and it looked stunning but I can see why that would leave you wanting. I pretty much agree with everything else you’ve said, expect for the show spanning 3 seasons. I feel like hour long episodes would fix the pacing fine because most of them, especially in act 2 where a lot happens, are like 35-45 minutes and you can do a lot with that extra 15-25 minutes Also Jinx isn’t dead so we’ll definitely be seeing more of her character at some point! She’s too popular not to bring her back in some capacity
@@Media_Mine Hour long episodes would certainly help. However, it's not the second act (are you counting 2?) I have a problem with, it's the first. Most of the new concepts and characters are introduced in the first act, and that's where I got lost. Especially without any LoL knowledge.The second act everything was established and it was a lot of action. As I said, I still liked it though. I might watch it again, seeing it for the second time might help, since you're a bit more familiar with all the lore then.
@koojibas I wouldn’t say I’m more familiar with the lore haha. I’m just a guy giving his opinion to the internet. I actually enjoyed the pacing in act 1 more than the rest. I think it did well at setting the stage for further explanation and exploration in act 2 and 3. So I’d say both act 2 and 3 needed hour long episodes. Act 1 could probably use hour long episodes too, but I feel act 2 and 3 need it more
@loganshalloe5927 I agree, there are flaws. But, I was hooked the entire time, the story, and the character arcs (whilst some arcs are flawed) were satisfying to me, so I’d say it’s a masterpiece. In my opinion, at least
I personally dislike people's tendency to contextualize to people's closeness as romantic. I think if the romantic intention isn't explicitly stated or shown, then it is much safer and more satisfying to interpret intimate connections as platonic. I see this as a problem with JayVik shippers as well.
This is maybe the best review video I've seen since the show finished. I 100% agree with your take on Caitlyn especially, and while the pacing didn't personally take me out of the emotion I can for sure understand why it does for others, and I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thinks that her choices made logical sense they just could've used more transitional scenes. It is curious to me that I've seen a lot of comments like yours about Vi, because I never had the feeling that she had a lesser role in S2 than S1 (and she's my favorite character) but now that I've heard that sentiment from numerous sources it makes me wonder why that is? Not a critique on your take just a genuine question lol. Great video!
I appreciate the support! I have no clue why you wouldn't feel Vi being used less, in my opinion it stuck out quite a bit haha. Maybe the other characters were engaging enough for you that you didn't notice? Or maybe I'm just tripping haha
I mostly loved Arcane but it got so involved in character that it sometimes forgot to set scenes, establish goals and allow changes to settle. Oh and on a serious issue: Couldn't care less about the fascist Cait's arc, she is a poopoo.
All i see is fans in denial finding comfort in their agreeable content. This season is way too much flawed to be called a masterpiece. U have no idea how frustrating it is for people expecting a quality writing like season 1. Visual and animation is still the best among animation series but writing, character developments and conclusion all took a nose dive. Sorry to break it to you but this kind of bias denial content really pisses me off.
@duxfot6998 I’m sorry you feel that way. Whilst I agree this season’s writing was not as good as the first season’s, I truly enjoyed it despite the flaws that I point out in this video. I never call arcane a perfect show, season 1 was perfect, no issues there at all, but season 2 has plenty. Despite those issues I enjoyed the show for the story it was telling, as well as the animation and the characters which I still enjoyed! Therefore I call it a Masterpiece. My definition of a masterpiece isn’t a perfect show/movie, it’s something that a lot of people, including myself, I feel connect with. Therefore I give it the title masterpiece but I’m not blind to the things that went wrong with this season at all Edit: edited grammar and spelling issues I missed!
Its funny that you people who disliked season 2 get all high and mighty on people who loved it. Art is subjective lol. All I see in comments like yours is arrogance. Its cool that you didnt like it. But attacking people who did is just... rude.

But I really don't think that Mel has full mastery over her powers. Most of the time it looks like she's flailing her arms, hoping to do something, and it usually is just enough for it to work.
To me it really seemed like she improvises all of her movements, because she isn't really sure how to use her magic optimally.
I feel like, if she had mastered her magic, she'd be way more powerful, which would explain why the Black Rose was so interested in her
@dorians2138
That’s also fair!
@JasmineMcDowell-dx2uu
I agree that there is some explanation as to how Mel discovers how powers and it being tied to the arcane, and I don't think she's unbeatable, maybe I phrased it wrong in the video, I'm not 100% sure, I recorded and edited it a while ago and I'm working on the next one so I haven't thought about it in a while.
Because:
** SPOILERS **
I feel like hour long episodes would fix the pacing fine because most of them, especially in act 2 where a lot happens, are like 35-45 minutes and you can do a lot with that extra 15-25 minutes
Also Jinx isn’t dead so we’ll definitely be seeing more of her character at some point! She’s too popular not to bring her back in some capacity
@thojwszckuhv HOW DARE YOU!!! (Sarcasm)
Act 1 could probably use hour long episodes too, but I feel act 2 and 3 need it more
S1 was already a masterpiece. Now the show is quite flawed
@krysisstorm2703
I agree! Though I don’t see it as a problem, just people having fun on the internet for the most part in my opinion
Great analysis! ^_^
Thank you! I appreciate you for watching!
@Media_Mine it's possible she just checks my personal boxes when it comes to fav characters honestly 😅😂
That’s fair haha
I mostly loved Arcane but it got so involved in character that it sometimes forgot to set scenes, establish goals and allow changes to settle.
Oh and on a serious issue: Couldn't care less about the fascist Cait's arc, she is a poopoo.
@chuzzbot Would you say that she's a... Peepeepoopoo?
I am so so sorry if you don't understand that reference
All i see is fans in denial finding comfort in their agreeable content. This season is way too much flawed to be called a masterpiece. U have no idea how frustrating it is for people expecting a quality writing like season 1. Visual and animation is still the best among animation series but writing, character developments and conclusion all took a nose dive. Sorry to break it to you but this kind of bias denial content really pisses me off.
@duxfot6998
I’m sorry you feel that way. Therefore I give it the title masterpiece but I’m not blind to the things that went wrong with this season at all
Edit: edited grammar and spelling issues I missed!
Its funny that you people who disliked season 2 get all high and mighty on people who loved it. Art is subjective lol. All I see in comments like yours is arrogance. Its cool that you didnt like it. But attacking people who did is just... rude.
