I feel like it made more sense for the developers to change Boiler City's atmosphere and looks, because imagine having to see a completely red skinned guy wearing a vibrant coloured green shirt in a normal looking city, especially in real life. It's made like that so Anton and Annie blends within the environment, and the way how grungy the city looks made it more fitting with their daily life habits.
I think what makes and breaks the design change is that people were under the inpression that Anton was invading a foreign collection of apartments and now they must cope with the fact that he is actually just murdering his neighbourhood.
I initially disliked the new Green look. But then it grew on me for the same reasons you mentioned. I also get tons of retro Game Boy vibes from all the green colours, which is pretty fitting considering Wario Land's first Title, I like it.
from the demo I played where it had the combo feature, I’m glad to see they removed it, it was SSSSUPER fun getting a high combo but it also made lives feel SOOO painful. Without it there isn’t much of a reason for casuals to run through the game now recklessly, and people who wanna speedrun the game, well shit nothings stopping em. Also to say it, ya it don’t feel like pizza tower now, thank god so now it stands on its own without it
combos have been made their own separate mode which i think is a great way to go about it because it provides that brutal challenge for people who want it without making it feel like an obligation
thank you guys for letting me know it is it’s own separate mood, glad it’s not in the casual mode gameplay. Though I’m gonna be crying tears (of joy /s) when i play the side mode
You know at first, when I saw the green Boiler City I was kinda confused and didn't liked too much, but in the end I liked it a lot, if there was a thing I would love they change back at least it's the bricks in the buildings, ngl gonna miss a little the Old Boiler City
I think the old round casino tokens were more iconic.. And the playing card symbol boxes are less detailed than before, as the breakable bricks got at some point. And pipes were more detailed too, the old 3d cap opening looked so cool.
You can say that again. Honestly, I think a few of these people should age a year or three before stepping foot online again. We've gotten too comfortable with letting people without fully developed frontal lobes talk.

I feel like this game is no longer an "old guy's action platformer game that looks like Wario" Both in a good way that differentiates it from Wario, and in a sad sense that the elements of Wario have diminished.
Not really, it's still very Wario Land-like, especially the change of keeping the combo counter for a separate mode, which makes the normal levels feel less rushy, and more closer to the pace of WL4 and Shake It, they're just changing and adding stuff so Antonblast has even more of an identity of its own, and so far so very dang good, the game looks better and better each time it shows up
Not really and its not that big of a deal it was going to change get in some point since it is in early build and they wanted to make it feel like its a very dangerous place to live at and makes sense why anton and annie would lived their the older one was a little too nice to live at and it doesn't fit well for a guy that's called himself a dynamite man

Well for watching this !this may be! the inde game of the year remember pizza tower being 2023 inde game of the year yea well this one is gonna be 2024 inde game of the year
Tbh, not much of a fan of some of these art style changes. The chips being pentagonal just looks amateurish. The pipes, which fit the environment and had that cool 3D animation, have now been turned into lazy, shitty-looking 2D dumpsters that just stick out like a sore thumb no matter where they are. Green isn't a good choice of background colour when your main character is mostly green. The very first detonator you come across being at an angle behind a pile of rubble (which looks like it should be a background element) isn't a good design decision. And this is a minor nitpick, but the card symbols are a little too exaggerated, to the point where I nearly thought they'd replaced the diamond with a star.
- the pentagonal chips fit in better with the more angular style of the art direction, so it's odd to call them amateurish because of the change in shape. - the dumpsters were probably intentionally designed to stick out so that players could still recognize that they're part of the level design and not the background. Same goes for the detonator, which unlike the rubble, is colored in a way that makes it clear you're supposed to interact with it(the white and red of the plunger contrast with the darker color of the junk). - personally speaking I didn't have much of an issue with the green background. It's a more sickly shade of green compared to the green on Anton and Annie. Everything was still fairly readable to me though I know that's subjective.
@@averagefez I don't think the pentagonal chips do fit in better with the art direction, and I don't really think that even if they are trying to go for a more "angular" style, they should make _everything_ angular. The pipes already stuck out pretty clearly, and were more cohesive and logical in the environment. And the detonator does stand out as an interactable object, but its position behind the junk pile which _doesn't_ look interactable is just confusing.
@@ButtonMasherReal art style angle, everything angle, anton angle, whole world angle (the dumpsters honestly fit pretty nicely and do in fact stand out a lot more)
It makes me very sad and confused that Boiler City went from peak Stage 1 to absolute _literal_ garbage. Like, my brother in christ, I don’t care if the idea is "grungy city", from an objective artistic standpoint, you deliberately chose all the wrong moves when you’d made all the right ones before. It was run-down, smoggy and derelict, but had a sense of being lived in with how crisp and popped everything was in its layout. Now we have a distracting ugly green filter lazily slapped on everything, completely negating all background design, scenery arrangements replaced for cheaper ones, and certain stage sections and elements given inferior and detail-lacking counterparts, like the stylish manhole covers and pipes being replaced by MS Paint garbage cans. Fucking _what?_
Well, I also feel the same way. I feel like the feeling of moving from the typical country town at the beginning to a crazy world where demons live is gone.
HOLD on, you said "MS Paint" garbage cans. Did you forgot that this is still a demo? Considering that they're not detailed, maybe they have made the sprite just about... very recently? My theory is that the developers just had an idea of replacing the pipes with dumpsters, and of course they wouldn't leave anything non-detailed in the full game. As for the stuffs you mentioned regarding the green background... yeah I'd say it has a way more funky and arcade-ish vibe compared to the OG boiler city, though the OG version is also good, I'd still embrace the new one.
