Elephant is one of the more recent limiters I have tried. I don't know why it wasn't an "obvious" choice to me, the sound stands above everything else I have tried
I think L2 is good enough and the Voxengo Elephant is going more in detail with the settings. Both are equally good, while L2 is more user friendly and it has a graphic analyzer, but you can keep it simple with Elephant too. Elephant is 109.95 while L2-Pro is 169. Pick and choose.
L2 distorts quickly and instantly robs you of your low end and transient impact. L1 is actually better. I tested thoroughly in a studio with ATCs. L1 beat l2 and l3.
*even me as well. but I just started music production tho 4 months ago. But then I found Sage Audio, they help me understand what really mastering is, & how to do it.
So, Im, going to go on a rant.... I know its not an answer, nor did you ask me the question, but a Plugins functions and results can an argument thats never ending.... Ive had a Tascam Porta Studio, then a pro rack Tascam, synced with MTC, Samplers and Synths , running realtime, recorded bass , guitar , Vox onto, and BV's into the sampler, Recorded to 2 Track cassette... Then upgraded to the cheap mans DAT, a SVHS video recorder, then to a Dat, and without all this going to a master bus without compression, every synth note, riding faders ect, continues mixdowns until perfect...especially when I had the dat.. 16bit, 48K , and I still wanted to get it as close to 0dbfs on it as possible.. That TCD7 was a game changer... There was that moment... Right, Fk im getting a loan, That was a big call.. In context, The sampler I bought as part of my setup, that One keyboard (not inc all the other things) in 1991 money could today setup a Whole bedroom studio from mic to Monitors, and still more superior in specs and capabilities.... Yet, The results I got with the limited gear in 90, when I decided, fk it, what could buy a few good 2nd hand cars, the decision by committing to what would be nonsensical by many, is lost on those today... You worked hard for your pay , and any decision made on what gear was a matter of research... no internet with click and answer... little lone how many had a a studio setup as the commitment was costly, those many preferred to take a 6 month holiday or buy that car... You see, with instant information at your finger tips, plugins galore , its become whats the next best thing... Who uses what... I love this channel for its more technical approach to what is the plugin. But today, I feel its become "the use, dispose , next please" culture.. For example, the amount of times people use a plugin like "XXXXXX" becuase thats the sound, or "XXXXX" uses it, to me it just becomes irrelevant.... Some even ask "How'd you get that Sound with that" having purchased (or K) because the basis of synthesis itself they do not know... Ive seen people mention things that their flagship Plugin does, nothing else does... That maybe the case, but many times even a free, 1 Osc synth can accomplish it... When Waves L1 came out, it was a game changer, and that one plug in was , well can't remember, but wasn't $29 on sale, on sale might have been in the vicinity of 1K! Thanks waves , you pretty much invoked the Loudness war..... I worked in hi tech, And a customer bought Logic Platinum , the few synths that were add ons, and an the TDM ESB bridge (Could access Digidesigns DSP Miox hardware) with a good discount... Only around $6500........ I did entire songs in a EPS with 2 meg memory.. 8 instrument slots, sampling my guitars, Vox, truncating , loop points under the micro scope, converting sample rates, using the Nyquist math... Why doe the Kick need be 32K? Drop it to 16K , thats a Freq response up to 8k.. more memory freed , as little as it is...... It added up. I guess musical qualities to me are more important, as they're the first step., And through the whole process everyone these days has a comparison, or genre they aim to match... My point? No point.... But Knowledge is more how you get to the result, and knowing how..that has so much more value... Ive had access to plugins, and expensive hardware, questioning which "Mastering Plugin" is the best can never be answered. So stop looking. Sure, the better and there's worse, But , like the art with composing, playing an instrument, Mixing, producing, mastering, no plug in on the master bus is the right or wrong.. in the end.. Its how it sounds too you.... The only time you need to care is the standards in place... and ironically, these are becuase of this Digital revolution , and the loudness war... TLDR. Elevate is my goto. Why? Becuase no matter the Genre (and I do a lot) it really does things so transparently , you'll know if your mix sux.. but yes, it can also make it better.. if you want.. It's different... But you must learn it. Everyone, Stop having 1000 plug ins, presets galore, if you actually invest in the ones you consider not capable, make sure that conclusion is not based on "Here Say" on forums..Know your plug. Know your Synth. Focus isn't always clarity. I reiterate... Elevate Bundle is stunning. But you need to learn it. Its different.
Hey Nikolaus! Elevate is a great plugin! I really enjoy the transient section, which is a great thing to have when using the limiter more aggressively. SageAudio.com
always exelenet videos Sage !! exelent , but we need to much know in this area ( mastering ) for correctly use from this vst tools advance control + adavence master user = beatiful master advance control + begining user = destructive track just my opinion
This plugin should've been called Voxengo Octo. It has so many Tentacles to reach that desired Mastering doing that all of us is goin for I see technology is reaching past the Taboo " there is no magic plugin" well kids.. in the near future yes there will be. If you have a mix that sounds close to a Mastered track without plugins and then this Plugin Elephant with a few tweaked parameters... You're that Kid in Town. I'm JT3 Production. That's my Rant for the Day Ps. Always a pleasure Sage Audio Love all the Content ...Tutorials and visuals Thank You! JT3 Production
I am waiting for your review of Elevate limiter, I think you didnt a video about it. This about Voxengo Elephant was illuminating, thank you very much. EDIT: forgot LIKE! come back to put it, #78. Now I watch the 3k dollars plugins video.
Thanks for watching Fonz! We reviewed it a little while back in a video about limiters suggested by our subscribers! It's a fantastic plugin for sure! SageAudio.com
Can you make please a in depth tutorial on cleaning up dialogue for very poorly recorded audio? Audio that needs denoising, eliminating echo, reverb then how to improve the actual voice. How would a dialogue recovery free toolkit look like? Then I would love to see it compared with what you think is the best of the best there is in terms of paid plugins for recovering dialogue in awful recordings. Thank you so much for your videos!
I always saw ads for this plugin, never thought it was this advanced! Man I'm tempted to buy this plugin now.
Hopefully it works out well for you!

I really enjoy the fabfilter one, but this looks even better. I don't think it's worth buying a whole new limiter for me though.
FabFiilter is great! This one does offer a little more freedom though. Thanks for watching!

Elephant definitely helped!

I do too and I have Weiss Waves, Fab Filter and Ozone 9. 😊

@@Rhythmattica Thanks for the elaborate answer. I didn't get quite your point but I agree to one issue: Creativity sells a song not the plugins.

Thanks for watching Rion! It's surprising for sure, but they do sound great.

I've used Ozone, Fabfilter pro L-2, and others but I always come back to Elephant for some reason.
Excellent limiter. Always in master bus💯
Great video. Have you seen Voxengo Teote?
I feel like I’m only scratching the surface with that plugin.
I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the suggestion!
