In your opinion, vintage amps are better or current modern amps? What do you feel main difference between the two? Please do tell me as some people say that current crop of amps don't have the same power and punch that vintage amps had.
@@akpandey860 It doesn't matter if you want to spend 200, 500 ore 1000 euro for a amplifier but when you buy them, the second hand amp will always sound better as the amp in the shop for the same price. So second hand is smarter. If you buy vintage, you not only buy for the sound but also for the looks. sound-wise vintage(1965 to 1980) when you buy a vintage amplifier for 500 euro it's always better in sound than a 500 euro costing new amplifier. the vintage however need revision, but keeps it's value. After 10 years the new amplifier lose over 50% of the value. When you buy a accuphase e-202 what had a complete revision it will cost you 1000 to 1500 euro. I don't know a new amplifier from the same price with the same quality as the accuphase. Not every vintage sound good, only totl models ore brands like marantz luxman sansui accuphase have a superb sound quality. This onkyo is beautiful but it doesn't sound as a sansui ore accuphase. I now use the advance acoustic maa 406 power amplifier what costed new 1000 euro. It is not sounding as good as a vintage accuphase amplifier but I can live with the sound. It's not a cheap sound, plenty new 1000 euro costing power amplifiers sound worse than the advance acoustic even if they are big brand names. I prefer the sound of the advance acoustic power and pre amplifier over the onkyo m504/p304 combination. In price the advance acoustic is cheaper (i bought it second hand) as the onkyo set. Only a complete revision of both the m-504/p-304 will cost you 500 euro. A complete reviced onkyo set will always sound better as a not reviced one but I never heard a reviced on. A not reviced onkyo m-504/p-304 cost you today 750 to 1000 euro. But lot of that price is the beauty you pay for....So your answer is hard to reply because there is very good sounding stuff in the shops for not that much money but they are never from the big brands. The big brands are always to expensive. If you want new , you should do your homework and testing and listening before you gonna buy because once you leave that shop your investment lost 30% of the value while if you buy second and the value stay the same when you resell it. You can't make mistakes when buying new.....Plenty new amps sound as good, some even better as the vintage amps but you have to pay 3 to 5 times more when you buy one of those...I have here a bryston 4b-st, hard to beat and equal to a vintage accuphase, second hand price is 1000 euro. When you have this bryston your search in sound quality is over because it doesn't only have the sound but it also have the power. But why i don't use it is because it's ugly.....I don't sell it yet because maybe one day I reach a new level and wished that I never had sell it. A real audiophile would take the beauty for granted, sound is the only factor they choose for. A marantz model 510(without the VU meters) cost you today 2000 euro minimal, so double the price from the 23 years younger second hand bryston 4b-st what doesn't need a revision in the coming next 10 years....they are equal in sound and power but why the marantz double in price is because they are very rare...collectors item, nobody collect brystons. not yet. ...so once again your question is hard to answer because some vintage is very expensive these days. If it is in the price class from 200/500 euro vintage marantz, accuphase, sansui luxman always win in sound from new amps in the shops.

@@vintagestereo I am a big yamaha fan i think that would be more on the detailed side if compared to the onkyo pre amp and have as much clarity or airyness the adavance has. But yamaha i think would be the best compared to the two because the extra richness and attention to detail yamaha's mid to higher end receivers and amps have. Nikko is a great company to but not as familiar with their sound these days.
I have a good ear. And I was waiting for some slight difference between the 2 preamps But there isn't any.. Literally no difference at all. I honestly think this is A first for me.. But No difference between the 2 at all... 🙄😜
nope, i did not heard any difference at all
I also hear no difference what speaks for both devices
206 is very pricey, just get the cheaper Onkyo
Hooiii
Onkyo is in another level..
