To say it's been a tad stressful since we arrived in Slovenia is a bit of an understatement, and this week we face our BIGGEST challenge yet, one that looks like it might just mean the end of our travels !!
And the worse thing is ... it was 100% our fault !!

We are the Cookes, Nicola, and Nigel. We love to travel. In 2018 we bought and converted a VW Transporter van and spent 3 years traveling around the UK and Ireland. At the time we also travelled with our beloved cat, Guinness. She was 20. Sadly we lost Guinness in Feb of 2020 and then well the rest of the world went to pot.
After a few 3 month trips to northern Spain and France, In early 2023 we sold our property back in Ireland and hit the road full time. For the remainder of 2023 we explored Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
2024 has us exploring Greece as well as Italy, Slovenia and The Alps ....
This channel will primarily focus on our travels, with the odd smattering of photography and food thrown in for good measure.

I watch a few vanlife channels and am aware of the need to have a contingency fund for unexpected expenses, the same as when owning a home and a new roof, furnace, hot water tank, etc. is needed.
The problem is that we don't always have the extra money for a healthy contingency fund. I know the situation well.
I'm in my 70s and things I used to fix on my own, I now often need a professional to assist me. Aaagh! Budgeting for unexpected emergencies is a pain in the butt.
I hope everything gets sorted.
PS - as long as you have your running shoes, you can run and running is so important for you during a time of stress like this.

I hope you 2 are through the worst of your van issues and life is "back to normal" for you. It's never fun, or easy working through life's challenges, but you will. Keep doing what you love, it's the part that makes the rest worth it😊
