I used to love playing with the legendary rosters back in the day. With everyone's stats so high, there were no excuses for whoever was playing. It all came down to skill at that point, no exploits for having better overall players at certain positions. I'm a Vikings fan so of course having Tarkenton, Adrian Peterson, Randy Moss and Cris Carter on the same team was busted. Madden isn't what it used to be but I still play it.
The reason Madden no longer has historic teams anymore. Is because former retired NFL players (unlike present day players, aren't subject to NFL rules and regulations and contracts) began suing EA for unlawful use of their likeness. The former players won and EA abandoned historic teams mode in the game. I don't think the former players thought this through. If I were old football player that most fans never think about but many could enjoy themselves reliving my "glory days" in a video game I WOULD BE THRILLED ABOUT IT. TO BE REMEMBERED, WATCHED AND PLAYED BUY PEOPLE WHO WEREN'T BORN WHEN I RETIRED. The players blew it.😡🤬
Imagine if Rodgers actually went the Super Bowl with the Jets… that would be incredible for them to possibly break that 55 year Super Bowl streak and that 14 year missed playoff streak
You should recreate the Madden 2005 or 06 rosters to see what changes or trades could have happened. And do a 5 year franchise mode. I think it could be interesting.

I do agree that Vick was the flashier, more fun player who arguably just played on worse teams (not to mention all the off field stuff) Ryan was an extremely talented and on a better overall team so I think of his Falcons time more positively. They are very close in my personal ratings of the Falcons best QBs

And, you'd have 2 track speed WRs(Washington was 6'2 with the speed and Solomon was also a trickster--being a great dual threat in college) to compliment Rice, Owens, Taylor, B. Wilson(6-time PBer), and D. Clark. At TE, you'd have Kittle, V. Davis, B. Jones, and T. Kwalick. At RB, you'd have Gore, Craig, Hearst, and McElHenny(Barry Sanders, "Jr" everything but the rushing production*, he's a better receiver than Barry in the NFL, and was a returner). Joe Perry and Juszczyk are at FB. IMAGINE THIS TEAM OFFENSIVELY AND TRYING TO BEAT THEM?! On Defense, Hardman's the best DE they've ever had(averaged a sack in 4 out every 5 games plus he was very consistent[probably under the radar due to playing 10 of 12 seasons in 14 game seasons]; Nomellini was the best DL they've ever had and one of the best DTs to ever play[could be; he was that quality]; Bry. Young is a HOFer; and Jus. Smith was a DE that could be a quality DE or DT at the DE position on any play[it's like SF could have 3 quality DTs to shut down the run on the field or 2 quality DEs]. Then, there are Bosa, Doleman, Stubblefield, and MI. Carter as DL depth. Wilcox, Wilillis, Bowman, and Haley at LB with Ald. Smith, Jul. Peterson, Warner, and Norton as LB depth. Solid CBs. Plus, Lott, Hicks, McDonald, Hanks, Goldson, and Whitner at the Safeties(massive hitters and/or ball hawks.) Some players not listed due to time constraints, but they are solid as well... *With SF's all-franchise Oline, this guy would be a nightmare here. His YPC numbers were already pretty solid, but YPC doesn't really tell the story exactly. More carries might mean that the YPC average takes a dip. This is why Barry's better; he has the production to prove it as the feature RB in Detroit...Watching Hugh and Barry's film reel, though, it's identical!
