Consider accessing the door check through the speaker opening (check speaker replacement video) thus avoiding all that messy vapor barrier removal and lock cable disassembly and replacement. The whole job was completed in less than 30 minutes.

You can access via that hole holding speaker with one bolt and use door panel removal tool if you don't want to be playing the gamble of breaking your clips yanking it off
Thank you! A 2006 Civic has one added phillips-head screw behind arm rest. I propped the panel on a box, pulled top-right rubber plug and peeled back 1/3 of vapor barrier. All is good again!
Can you do a video on how to remove the door itself? I’m looking to replace the door shell on my 08 Civic LX due to rust (and reuse the internal components). Please and thank you!
Another well-presented video and further proof - why I'm NEVER going to f**k with taking apart my 'easy to remove' door panel. I'm getting kinda used to that steel and plastic exit as it smacks my f**king knees when I step outta my Civic. 😶❗
+SIngh We don't have a how-to video for that part right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
I had the 12MM bolt screw into the pillar, but the screw hole/bolt inside the pillar seemed to separate from the frame (back door). Its still connected to the bolt and stops the door from swinging open, but it moves around and wont tighten. Am I totally screwed or is there a way to fix that? Sorry for the terrible description, I'm just starting to learn this stuff :)
Hello, I have an issue with my honda civic 2011. I'm wondering what causes this. Basically when I open the passenger door, the door will stop on it's own mid way then if you push it more it will move all the way out. Now the driver side door doesnt stop midway it just opens all the way out. I wanna fix the driver side door what part could be the culprit?
+GamerGods Broadcasts Unfortunately we cannot really accurately diagnose that. We would advise you take it to a trustworthy mechanic in your area that can look at it in person
+malmangelucci We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular repair. We will keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com
Yeah i would just peel back a little section of the vapor barrier and also leave the door panel attached to the cables. plenty of room the slip a hand in to take out and insert the part
Bro was it necessary to take off the whole damn vapor barior instead of just peel back only the tiny little space that it looked like you needed instead of having to remove the whole damn thing when you dont have to
Great video but most of it is unnecessary. Find video that show speaker replacement and you will access door check mechanism through the speaker hole. It took me about 30 min. to replace it. Really easy. First part of video is useful but not necessary to remove lines and liners . Good luck.

that looks complicated especially You have no mindset of being a mechanic I am looking to remove the whole door to replace it with the new one do you have a video on that thank you

Great video! Panel came off exactly like the video. Didn't need to do anything more than the door check so I left the panel connected to the latches.

Goof job and this Civic is much more complicated than my 2003 Accord-made me feel much better seeing how difficult the newer models are!
Can you just replace the door check from the speaker opening?
That's what I am wondering, I am going to replace that, might as well do it together
Is the front and rear door check the same parts and procedure?
+SIngh We don't have a how-to video for that part right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
i can't find the part on your website

My 2008 Honda civic door won’t keep open, almost catches my leg all the time. Is the hinge the problem?
how about a link to the part?
Could you do this without disconnecting everything in the door? Just taking the panel off enough to get in but leave everything attached?
I'm very late, but yes. I just left the door hanging and everything plugged in. I guess this might help someone in the future.
@@ThatGamor your comment helped out, thanks!
Really well done. Thanks

How do you extend the new door checker for installation?
Yeah i would just peel back a little section of the vapor barrier and also leave the door panel attached to the cables. plenty of room the slip a hand in to take out and insert the part
Excellent

Why can't you just take the speaker out to remove the part.
+john mccarthy Thanks for checking us out! You may also be able to remove the part that way.
It's much faster that way
@@a_void Were you successful removing the door catch after removing the speaker? Looks like it should be easier doing it that way.
Bro was it necessary to take off the whole damn vapor barior instead of just peel back only the tiny little space that it looked like you needed instead of having to remove the whole damn thing when you dont have to
Bro, he mentioned you don't have to remove it all (if you watched) and said they pulled the whole thing off to do other work.
Where can I purchase a replacement door check?
EBay $17 with free shipping for the front driver door.

Now I know I won't do it :)
No reason to disconnect handle cables, waste of time and time is money.
+david spangler Thanks for the tip!
Of course it's difficult to pull it because it is a push pin lol
Such a poor video, only tells half the story.......
I turned off volume. Can't take the "up talking" after every instruction.
Too much work
+La Féte Thanks for the feedback!
Yea, better to have a malfunctioning door forever.
It can be replaced in like 10 minutes.
