Back and sides are rosewood. The top is Engleman spruce which really 'rings'. It has also been through Yamaha's ARE treatment that 'ages' the wood and definitely contributes to the fabulous sound (with or without the effects) Unbelievable guitar for the money. The concert size body has some depth and is a little bigger than other concert sized guitars I have tried, again this just contributes to the sound. It is the 20th guitar I have owned and it is just fabulous.!
Great review I wish Yamaha would consider lefties a bit more. Yamaha will not make left handed - trans acoustics - TAG3 or the A series, they only make available a Left-handed version of the FG800
I changed the saddle and pins to tusq graph tech and it sounds much better. Now it sounds louder and has a lot of harmonics.I added an armrest and now it's a superguitar.
I have the LL TA in same colour. I too wasnt crazy bout gold hardware but on this particular guitar it looks very nice. Love these trans acoustics. I really like the on board effects and I figured even if they crap out one day, it's still a great guitar on its own. Thanks for the vid.
great advice about trying before you buy - i've done exactly that before - bought on line without trying - and sold it 6 months later. Last guitar I bought I had one in a shopping cart online for a great price - remembered the lesson and so went to a guitar shop and played it and actually hated it. Looks can be deceiving, and online reviewers are way better players than me. I ended up getting a different guitar that I would never have looked at online - and love it!
@@ianbarcelos I was looking at a Fender Noventa Strat and ended up with a Vintera 50s Modified Telecaster - very different guitars to what you are considering. If you can try them both before you buy.
Just ordered the LL-TA. Not had a chance to test drive it but I really don't care. I love the sound with and without the electronics. This guitar makes me smile and that is priceless. What more could a guitar give?
I have been playing guitar since age 4, and I will never own a Taylor or Gibson acoustic. They are terrible value for the money. 100% of my soul feels wrong, because I KNOW I am paying a premium for the name on the headstock, when all I care about is the sound. There's no difference in "build quality" between this Yamaha and a high end Taylor. Yamaha has it's own factory for making guitars, as does Taylor. Yamaha was also the first to use this actuator technology. The "Tonewood Amp" kinda "ripped off" Yamaha's technology. Yamaha had a patent in 2008 for the Transacoustic tech. The guys over at Yamaha are awesome. I also own this Yamaha LS-TA, along with MANY other brands of acoustic and electric guitars. I will play the Yamaha LS-TA all day over a Taylor. I do not like Taylor guitars at all. Great demo/review, man! 🐰❤️🎸🎵🤝✌️
I went with my Yamaha ls ta over a Taylor because they did not give solid back and sides like Yamaha. And they were even more expensive. I honestly love my new Yamaha. It's such a beautiful guitar and sounds so rich. The transacoustic feature an added bonus.
I borrowed the Transacoustic LT-TA dreadnought from one of my students. Wow! Build quality, playability and tone all hit the spot. I was loath to give it back. I want to try the LS-TA as it has a slightly smaller body but I’m sure that it will match it’s sister model for quality.
💯 agree with you too. Would also like to try the smaller body. Although it doesn’t feel to uncomfortable to play. Thanks for commenting and have a great day. 😊
Bought one today, absolutely stunning in every way, I wondered if there is a protective film on the transparent pick guard ? Don't think there is on mine, don't want to pick at it. Can anyone answer ? Thanks 🙏
I understand you are giging with this guitar as well. How do you feel about it in live situations compared with just practising home by yourself? In other words is it a good guitar for live playing through amplifier e.g. 100 people or so? Thank you for a very good video. 👍
Great review, was interested in this guitar, ticks all my boxes but I am one of those brand snobs so wasn’t sure. But guitar seems brilliant and not expensive so after watching this earlier I bought one. Cheers man.
I have the Yamaha CSF-TA TransAcoustic Guitar. I absolutely love it. It is the entry level TransAcoustic Guitar model and I paid $700 US The manual is in Japanese and was wondering if you use yours whit the power button on the guitar on or off. It can be used both way but I'm not sure of the proper use. Anyone know the answer to this. Thanks
What’s the size difference between the LL & LS? I’ve been looking at the LL-TA and know they’ve been out for about 4-5 years now I was just looking to see if this model is being updated.
Thx for this thorough review mate. Would you advise me to buy the LL TA since I have large fingers and thought maybe the TT comes with a bigger nut size? Nut size smaller than 1 and 3/4 " are challenging for me.
Similar, but the LS-TA is deeper and has a much fuller tone than the OM. I was at the store ready to buy an OM and went out the door with the Yamaha. Fantastic guitar for a fraction of the price of the Martin. BTW, I own two high end Martin Dreadnoughts (Custom Shop D-45 and a D-41), and I get very nervous taking them out to gig. The Yamaha is fantastic! I won't have to worry about it so much and will be very satisfied with the sound of the Yamaha. I don't care for chorus in any form, so will never use that feature, but I love the reverb. Great for fingerstyle in small venues. Guitar sounds great plugged into a nice acoustic guitar amp.
Only thing that has stopped me picking one of these up is the gold hardware. 100% that it always looks tacky to me. I'd like to know how you feel about it after having it for a while.
TooBarFoo love it. My only gripe after gigging a lot with it is the batteries drain really quickly when plugged in. Even when I unplug in between sets at a gig. It’s a compromise I guess as it sounds great plugged in so I just carry a load of AA batteries around with me. Better than 9V batteries which are the norm on most other acoustics though.
@@TheGuitarCoach Have you tried rechargeable AAs? Asking because I wonder if they would last long enough to play for several hours before losing their mojo.
@@jaxchiro I’m not yet to try rechargeable batteries on this one. I do use rechargeable batteries in my wireless system when I play with the band but this is not acoustic. I do find that eventually the rechargeable ones just don’t hold their charge as well and have just succumbed to buying decent quality batteries online in bulk. 👍
@@TheGuitarCoach Ibjust got this guitar and will try the recharging batteries and report the outcome. I am not expected them to work well, but hope they do, for the sake of environment and my pocket.
Played one of these and wasn't impressed at all. It has all the bells and whistles but didn't sound good, on the contrary I played Yamaha Storia iii which sounded extremely good for the money and build quality and feel were better than the Trans acoustic, yeah go figure.
The pickup under the saddle takes a lot from the sound quality. Change the saddle to tusq Grap tech and the pins also to tusq and you have a different guitar.

Good afternoon. In doubt between this model and the Yamaha ac3m all solid. Which friend considers to be of the best quality.
It's a beautiful looking guitar, and sounds great. 👍
Mine will be here in a few days. I can’t wait. I play classical and decided to take the plunge
Redwood back and sides mate.

LS TA .... the back and sides are supposed to be Rosewood. @ 1.27 - 1.28 Why did you say Mahogany ?

Great Video!
Harvey Taylor thank you. 😊

How does this guitar sound without the effects to other rosewood concert shaped guitar in your opinion? Thanks buddy

is it a soft guitar to play? I am a woman and my fingers are short and I have problems with hard and high string guitars
Is this the concert sized model or dreadnought?
Phil Haynes concert
I think this guitar should be amplified with a mic rather than the UST. The UST doesn't do the guitar justice, IMHO
Rosewood surely?
White Foam Sea on the Yamaha website the fretboard it says Ebony. 👍
