The greatest accomplishment for a musician is to bring happiness to the people that are watching them every time I see one of your videos I have a big smile on my face seeing the talent and skill that you have I hope someday to see you play live in a band keep up the good work
Thank you. I'll be a lot more receptive to invitations for audition as soon as I complete my college coursework. Glad that my covers put a smile on your face too. ^_^
I knew, I just knew, that if I looked at your other videos hard enough, you'd do a new release!! As usual, you never cease to surprise me with what you'll chose to cover! And, as usual, you always deliver an exceptional performance! Well done, as always, Ms. Devikah!!!! 👍👍!!
The skill level at which you play, and how effortless you make it see, alongside that beautiful smile.... I really enjoy watching your videos! Great work!
Amazing drumming Devikah. Fantastic. All those words. You are a star 🌟
You are awesome!! Amazing drummer and always awesome musical selections!
Fantastic cover!!!
Have no words to express my astonishment. Now you are my icon!
You make it look so easy! awesome job!
Perfectly Devikah! Wspaniale!
This...this is something else! You are fantastic! And we get two videos in one day 😃
thomas, one of my favorites
I've seen some female drummers on UA-cam. They're either boring to watch, or just there to play as a one-time thingy. With the skills that you have and the music choices you play, you're actually a person who can really play drums. Always excited to see new videos from you.
Pitchaxistheorem I always see people commenting similar things in the youtube comments of female drummers. You really don't need to put other female drummers on youtube down to compliment another. If you think she's a good drummer, just say that she's a good drummer. I've literally never seen anyone say 'oh I've seen other male drummers and they're shit, but you're a good male drummer'.
Kaat Brackeniers calm down there Kaat, this person didn't say anyone was shit, or even that they weren't good, just boring, and that's their opinion and the way they stated it was perfectly ok. there aren't as many female drummers on UA-cam as there are males so just relax, you understood what they meant and chose to read into it what u did, that's a you problem, if u don't get this fixed, ur gonna have several of these "triggered" moments on ur way to maturity.
Calm down Rob. She observed a common occurrence (that some men can't seem to comment on something a woman does without acting shocked that a woman is doing it), making note of the condescending tone, making note that men rarely have to read, "Man, a lot of men are boring, but this is good," and then you chose to get defensive on Pitchaxis' behalf, rather than allowing him to speak for himself.
Seems like maybe you're the one who got triggered. Just relax. You understood what she meant. And, if you didn't, I can link you to some Bell Hooks.
Steven Kilpatrick I'm very calm there Steve, quite lucid in fact. I thought Kaat was reading into this comment, more than what was there, this person was just complimenting young Devikah here, and Kaat took it too far with the "this male drummer is shit" part, this person didn't say anything about anybody being shit, and their wording was, imho, perfectly fine. how do u know it was a male that made the comment? I guess only males make comments like this? do u feel triggered by my defending this person? or are u trying to score brownie points by defending young Kaat's comment? at any rate, maybe were ALL out of line here, this girl can play, all the YT girls can play, it's awesome to see this! we should probably just let this go.
I don't even care anymore what other people think about this comment. I wasn't even trying to be mean you guys.
Haaaa, that smile at the end ! so much joy ! very good job :D
I fw your drum style a lot. You are such a great musiciann
I saw your channel two days ago and ı am watching your videos 4 hours in a day. Because you are girl who is on my dream.

When I saw Thomas Pridgen's version of Meytal's "Hypnotized" on Drumeo, I knew that the time will come when I will do a cover of it. Better now than later while I have the time. BTW, you can watch Thomas Pridgen play his version here: ua-cam.com/video/5X1FaiXAb-s/v-deo.html . ^_^
Devikah. pretty ambitious of you to cover one of his improvs. you were close enough that it doesn't sound like a mess. good job 👍👍
Devikah awesome job, really enjoyed watching you tear it up all over that set....standing ovation....
Devikah how old are you to have this broad style of different drum techniques?
That was awesome. Thank you 😲👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Found you in the comments of a Mia Morris drum cover. Talent hiding everywhere Thank you so much for filling my ears with your great talent
*Nice! love your covers :D*
Woohoo! How much precision woman! You're fabulous! God bless you! I was fascinated when I heard your wiplash and caravan cover. This world is not worthy of your talent hahaha💪🏾😉
AMAZING.
Tocas tan genial que siempre quiero ver un nuevo cover tuyo cada vez :)

Isai Jetro Guerra Morales virgen
It's does not simply watch just one video of devikah. Nice work, and i'll wait for a cowboy beebop OST cover
The future of drumming looks great
Nice one :) can't wait for your next video :P
perfect 😭😭❣❣
wooow nice job!
All this and a green frog too. Awesome.
Top notch as always! Also, for what appears to be a mic setup using only overheads, the sound you get is really good and surprisingly balanced.
Thank you, Sam. I have a thing for Blue mics, and positioning two overhead condensers allows me to pick up the sound of the entire drum set. Besides, and if you tune your heads well, they will sound great in most overhead configurations. ^_^
Badass. I didn't realize you were from here in my town of Nashvegas 🤘🏻
Hey Devikah, have you seen this in the description of Pridgen's video ? "Believe it or not, Thomas had never even heard this track before he played to it. This was live, completely on the spot, and he absolutely killed it"
Impressive !
Holy sh*t! You do this very well. :)
New video! YAY!
We miss u

Gracias todo el camino a México. ^_^

Wow! Just amazing. I came here through the Whiplash covers and stayed, that and the recent Jazz upload... you are very talented. I wish I would still invest more time into playing to actually improve furter ._.
😍
New subscriber here. I ended up catching your Whiplash/Caravan cover vid while I was looking up stuff on the movie. Awesome drumming!
I'm not a drummer or even a musician...but it definitely looks like you kick ass! I hope you can make a great career out of it if that's what you want!
Awesome drumming!!! keep up the good work! :)
You are so great!!! You should be famous hahahahahaah
Better than fame is to have visitors like you. Yes? ^_^
Awesome! Suggestion: Rival Sons, Rush!
miss your smile when play a drum
😍😍🤘🏽
your speed makes me want to see you try at some Between the Buried and Me. Blake Richardson is a fucking beast and I would love to see you cover one of his masterpieces.
The Best loooooooooooooooool
I have never tried playing a song like this note for note like the original drummer. I am curious if you write it out or just work on it and memorize it by ear. Either way I am WAY to lazy to try that. :-) But you did a great job. But the next questions are will you eventually go to close micing for your covers and do you have any videos of playing in more a band situation? Would love to hear you playing with and feeding off of other musicians.
Hi, Dan. Long time no see. I learn the stickings by ear and in bite-sized sections. UA-cam videos also help to support what I hear. When I started drumming, I played with the School of Rock House Band. You can find a couple of videos of them at the very bottom of my UA-cam channel. Classes require that I drum part time at the moment, though. Hope you're in continued good health. ^_^
I am doing fine Devikah and thank you for asking. :-) It is pretty amazing that school work takes most of your time and doing these covers is a part time thing. You must be very good at managing your time which actually is a great trait to have as you go through life. You definitely will be able to accomplish more. But then my discussions with you have shown me you definitely have your sh*t together so to speak. I predict great things for you in whatever direction careers and jobs take you.
You're kind to say that, Dan. Thank you. To answer your question that I didn't answer, I'm toying with the idea of including individual mics soon. Have a great summer. ^_^
It seems to me that you don't always play breaks smoothly. Maybe it's drum backing track of "Hypnotized"? But cover is awesome
it'd be awesome to see you cover one of tesseracts songs
U r so cuuuuuuute)
Крутяк))
I loved it . Please re-upload videos 3:16
Hi Devikah. I watch a lot of drumming videos and I always enjoy your new posts. Do you ever watch yourself play? I feel like your technique is very fluid, however.....if you notice how you hold your sticks, you appear to be 'swatting' at the drums and cymbals instead of striking them. Perhaps if you held the sticks more towards the fulcrum this could give you a better balance? Not trying to criticize, but as someone who started playing rock music and holding my sticks at the 'butt end', I discovered a whole new musicality to my playing by making this adjustment.
Keep making awesome videos, you rock! Cheers, Mark
Hi back. I do notice how I hold my sticks and hold them, the way I do, intentionally. Comfort and control are the two ingredients that determine how I hold my sticks. Thanks again. ^_^
Dekivah how did you learn this?
👍🏻👏🏻😎💪🏻🤟🏻🌹
would you go to drumeo?
You are good. Please cover this viopipe butterfingers
cásate conmigo...... super cool
I can't hear the bass drum. You play very well, and I like watching you, but I can't hear half of the playing :(
It's because she doesn't want to use more microphones, I'm very sad about it too
Can you make a cover of Hacker or maybe More than a Fairy by Death Grips ? It would be really cool :D also nice vid ^^
You should play YYZ by Rush, it's challenging enough so why don't you give it a go?
Милашка
Devikah, how do you get permission to use all the music that you use. I have put up exactly 1 video and it's blocked worldwide, yet it's "Go Your Own Way" which is on you-tube by a lot of people who are not blocked.
Devikah, cuéntame, ¿Cómo llegaste a ser tan buena? Dónde has estudiado?
Gracias.
Podemos chatear. n.n
SKiLLDrummer99 Querido retrógrada, no tienes ni idea.
It`s beautiful girl. Definitely
Every time i see her playing i fall in love jajaja you are my crush jajajjaa (on tas) jajajaja
system of a down
That little green creature on Devekah's drum was 'Eating seeds as a pastime activity' during certain sections of the song. XD
i hear it too. sounds similar to toxicity at times.
Toxicity on steroids 😅
Devikah where you gone? :|
she dont have instagram?
Sorry; I don't. Just UA-cam to house my covers. ^_^
I ask that question because you are beautiful.. I see you from Venezuela!
No, I'm in Nevada, USA. Have a couple of good friends in Venezuela. ^_^
do you have instagram?
it's time to new video, dont be lazy
Why do I find these people after they stop...
Wow! awesome plays. just watched some of your vids and your choice of music and plays are awesome . I could not hear all things clearely and this makes me sad. Some better mic positioning and mixing skills could push your sound and views insanely. As awesome drumer you should go deeper into current microphones and sound techniques. This is also part of a good musician. Thanks for your vids!!!!
Hi. Thanks for your comments. My mic choices are intentional.
When I help out a local band, they always want me to individually mic my set up. I gladly oblige.
But when I do my own drum covers for self-enjoyment, I use the old school way of two overhead condensers in a Y config. On occasion, I'll add another mic 3 feet off the floor and standing next to the side of the kick and snare.
They pick up the sound of the entire drum set, and I have fun moving them around to get a different emphasis at different times.
Individual mics create the temptation to tweek the sound too much, IMO. Sounds too artificial for me at times.
If the drums are tuned properly, they'll always sound good to some overheads. And they won't need major surgery to sound half decent. But that's just my opinion, of course.
Thanks again. ^_^
Sorry. I think I did a poor job describing the location of the occasional second mic. This video does a much better job. I have mine lower by the side of the kick, though. ua-cam.com/video/iS_YZpn818A/v-deo.html . ^_^
Hey. Thanks for your description, I understand what you mean and how you did it. I didn't mean that you could use additional mics to change the tune because this is good. I mean that you could ajust the sound levels of the different drum parts much easier. Like two mics in addition for kick and snare for easy sound level adjustment, SM57 from Sure are completely enough for that job.
And yes you are right, a good tuned drumset sounds always awesome naturaly!
keep going :)
Now try Buddy Rich 😀
I've been a drummer and percussionist for years. When I first clicked on your videos, I'll be honest, I was looking to just criticize you. But I actually like your style and your range of taste! You're interesting and you look like you're having so much fun. The only thing I'd suggest is to try working on your technique. The only reason I say so is because you already play well and your covers match pretty darn close to the originals. But, especially in this one, you can see how much harder you're working than the original artist because you have to single-stroke everything including rolls. With as much passion and skill as you have, you should take it even further and become the best you could ever be! Nonetheless, I've only just begun watching your videos today and I've enjoyed them. Just thought I'd give you a tiny bit of advice that you honestly don't REALLY need (but could help you!).
I bet she’s better than you lmao
