Welcome to our local government here in New Orleans where I live. And we cant get garbage trucks to show up to pick up garbage let alone to be used as a barrier. Our mayor is awful, governor - please. Such a defensive self-saving press conference. They never have Bourbon street properly and securely blocked off. I love so many things about living here - and there are so many challenges also.
Such an important American block not properly secured, especially during Celebration time.. ? 🙏 Heads must roll via New Orleans Officials.. ! I worked Maintenance Protection of Traffic/DOT in NYC an there's NO excuse for those Big gaps.. Shame on N.O.. ! ✌
Put barriers up if you like but they can be circumvented by anyone who is of the mindset to do these things. You can go 40 over speed bumps if you don't care about your vehicle... You can 50 over them. You can also move or bypass Barriers if you plan for it. That being said, barriers will be out up...if only for political reasons because " that'd what we need to do."

I've seen large DPW dump trucks put at the ends of streets for special events. Nothing can get around/through those.
