Protestants represent the English rule of Ireland and the Catholics represent the Irish Republic. so therefore they don't get along that well because one side wants to remain British and the other wants to unite with the south
The English came to Ireland and the English were protestants the Irish were mostly catholics and the English took over are country they gave some of it back but not all of the bit the didn't give back is northern Ireland
and Protestants evicted from the south moved north, dont oversimpfiy it. Land ownership was never based on just religion. Much of the land in the north was legally sold to settlers. @@ciaranmccabe4994
