At 16:30 here's something that could pass for east of Savanna, IL. There's one of the two steepest grades that Canadian Pacific has on its east west former Milwaukee Road between Savanna and Elgin. The other is located on the east side of Monroe Center.
Thanks Gary! The CP Laggan Sub is a very scenic line through the Canadian Rockies. And yup, that last train sure was struggling trying to battle the inclining grade
My belief is that Canada has its equivalent of FedEx, J.B. Hunt and UPS on Canadian Pacific's hot intermodals between Vancouver and Montreal. My question though is - do some trains pass through Chicago on the way through Toronto and on to Montreal? Or do they go all the way across Canada?
That first train is a great candidate for a string line around a curve with at dozen or so empty flats only a few behind the engine then a mile and a half of cargo behind it. Not good. I was a freight conductor and signalman my whole career, actually worked for CP rail too
i've been in canmore numerous times and let me tell you that some of those freights going thu that place are really highballing and i mean fast, there's a level crossing going into the townsite and you really have to careful going in there driving commercially. there are speed limit signs on hwy #1 seems the railroad i s unlimited.
I sat at the Banff train station for 18 bloody hours in the course of 2 days this last summer and barley caught 5 trains! How in the heck did you get so many?
Nice Catch Of The Pair Of CP GP22ECOs But Why Did They Use 2 Engines To Pull One Car, I Know They Sometimes Do That On Locals, By The Way On That Train I Did Not Hear The Horn Blow, As a Matter Of Fact I Did Not Hear The Horn On The Second Train, Is It a Quiet Zone? Also What Canadian Province Were You In? Anyway, Nice Catch Of The CP GEVO Pair Pulling An Intermodal And Autorack With Yet Another CP GEVO, As a DPU, Great Catch Of The CP GEVO And AC4400CW Pulling An Intermodal, Great Catch Of The Rocky Mountaineer GP40-2LW, I Never Even Heard Of That Railroad, Also That Train Is Great With The RM GP40-2s, Very Lucky Catch Of That RM Passenger Train! Anyway, Neat Catch Of The Solo CP GEVO Pulling a Manifest With Some Intermodal Added In, And It Is Nice Of That Solo CP GEVO DPU, I Will Finish My Comment Later, By The Way When You Go Back To Houston TX, You Could Stop By At Pecan Grove TX, It Is Right Next To Richmond, Here Is The Link On Google Maps To The Crossing I Want You To Go To, www.google.com/maps/@29.5946787,-95.742164,3a,75y,22.85h,86.36t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sWxGh4lnCTtOy0K3hCZzy9A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en
Thanks! For the one car local, probably so that when the local heads the other direction, they can use the 2nd unit facing backwards to lead instead of letting the single unit running long hood forward. And yeah, Canmore was probably a qz. The province I was in was Alberta. I've taken a vid at that crossing once before ua-cam.com/video/pqn3C_5BcJE/v-deo.html
Well done video, if I may recommend, turn off all audio for your 35mm DSLR, very distracting. Watch your camera moves, nice and smooth does it. Great subject matter. Well done.
I never get tired looking at these videos scenery is beautiful. Who in the hell needs a cruise ship sailing into a hurricane.
I stayed in the hotel on the other side of the tracks from your shots in Canmore. Had a nice pool and great views of trains.

Nice video bringing good memories, I have stayed 2 times in the hotel you see in the start of the video, Ramada Inn & Suites.
I used that exact angle on CP 8777 when I shot CP 9750 in Banff.
Awesome catches first train GP20C-ECO and GP22ECO and Rocky Mountaineer!
Thanks!

Looks like Canmore wants to get a leg up on Banff - thinking that its Ramada Inn is better than Banff's hotel.
great catches

Gostei muito dos Cargueiros, mais esse trem de passageiros é muito lindo.

that is not CP 199 at 10:58. You have to take away the mixed freight cars from it.

Why didn't it blow the horn?
Probably cause Canmore was a qz
Nice!
thank you.......
New nice video and I subscribe your channel
Too much time spent looking at the same train.
