She wanted only to protect her dying species. She must have been the queen, as evidenced by her swollen mushroom head. She was the one who produced the spores of the species. Her younger sister was the leader. Though I think the younger sister was definitely evil. The elder was avenging her slain sister, who she loved even though she was evil. This music speaks of the hatred and finality in her heart. This also speaks that only one species will survive. And the other will perish... The elder prices shroom was doing what she thought was right for her children. It was her little sister who was the evil one.
True! When peach sealed the elder princess in the cobalt star the younger princess shroob lost it because she thought her sister was dead and the shroobs saw it as an act of war! This began the plot of the game! This is why they attacked the toads so mercilessly!
When I was younger, I didn't get this fight. I saw it as too difficult, and I wondered why the music was so sad. I think I get it now. It's not triumphant. It's complex, like this fight. If the protagonists win, they commit genocide upon an entire species. If they lose, their species is eradicated. Both sides have the same motive for fighting: survival. Can the choice of genocide really be made by a small group of people, no matter how "good" or "right" their intentions are? That's not an easy question. And it shouldn't be.
Does anyone else find it kind of funny that Elder Princess Shroob calls them "foolish mushroom heads" when she herself and her entire race also have mushroom heads?
Definitely the most epic battle in the Mario series and the most intense emotional music. The only thing more anguished in Mario was count bleck losing his soul mate, trying to destroy the world that took her away and then dying to save it and be with her again.
The most hopeless, depressing and beautiful final battle theme in any game I have played. It really made me feel like I had no chance against her, and when all hope seemed lost, I turned it around in the Mario Bros. favor, allowing victory after a trying battle. THIS is what I look forward to at the end of a game, and this delivered. Perfectly.
They skipped over Partners in time... THEY SKIPPED OVER PARTNERS IN TIME!! Come on Nintendo really? I know the game didn't sell as well as the others but at least in my opinion, it deserves a remake way more than Bowser's inside story, and that's saying alot because I love that game.
I think it should have been remade alongside it. Mainly due to the fact that many people out there didn't get to experience this game. However, I'm still happy about a BiS remake.
I think the reason they didn't do it is that the formula for the game was much different mechanically and that they would have a hard time recreating the powerups for bros and quad attacks when the ones like Copy Flower were never-ending.
If they do ever remake a classic Mario RPG, it better be the one that started it all as a remake for the Switch; that would give incentive for Geno to show up in the Fighters pass.
I think it'd kinda go in for replacing Midna's Lament, or The sword fight against Ganondorf in Twilight Princess, The Twilight realm or the main theme would be stretching it in my opinion.

i love this song! it's dark, edgy, scary, and epic at the same time! ever since i herd this song, i fell in love with it! it clearly shows that not only that princess shroob is a killer, but also its a fight for survival between to races of mushroom people, the peaceful toads and the dark, mysterious, and terrifying shroobs who want survive their struggle againt near extinction. IT happened. The ultimate comeback To a point i was like I finaly did it. I finaly beated her. At Least the music was just fitting and it was awesome.

Also, I just realized As a kid I knew that the Shroobs’ weakness was ice, and as a kid, that weirded me out, because they lived on a COLD distant planet. But as today, I was contemplating that, came to a realization that maybe THAT WAS why they left and for a new planet, and was their only hope of survival. And they attacked a planet that they could conquer, that was normally warm so they could survive. But sadly for the Shroobs, it meant extinction. HAVE A NICE DAY!
I honestly didn't have much of a problem with this fight in and of itself. It's just that you have to survive a gauntlet of other obstacles just to get there.
It’s possible they wanted to destroy what was as alien to them as their planet was to us. They could not survive in the mushroom kingdom because it was different from their dead planet... the shroobified castle and purple fungal bodies all point to the fact that they were trying to recreate their home on Mario’s world... of course this would kill the native inhabitants... their planet dies because it has no parent star to nurture it as the intro said... they were just trying to get back what they needed to live. It drove them insane. The elder was the only one who was still sane because she was trying to be strong for her people and her sister who had Also lost her mind...
this fight is amazing because it really expresses what is at steak! mario and luigi are the last hope for their ruined kingdom and if they loose the fight then it is both figuratively and literally game over! this boss fight is unmatched throughout the entire sires showing what is truly darkest hour of he mushroom kingdom.
I just finished mario and luigi partners in time and this boss was a pain mostly due to the limited bros attacks I had left so I had to use red shell on her feet over and over then jump on her crown a lot and jump on her head it was a struggle for me took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes the theme went perfect with the struggle between me and elder princess shroob. I was not under leveled I had level 27 and 26 team present day mario being the only level 27.
This music totally surprised me. Most of the other tunes from the game were fun and and a rhythm to them. But then THIS! Slow, beautiful and quite imposing at points.
as a child, i was very disapointed of the final boss music, because i heared the inside story boss music first, and expected a similar epic action music, but now, i realize, that such a music style dont fit here, and now this is my alltime favourite final boss music. its such an epic fight like this.

Did anyone notice that this boss had a total of 6,000 HP while the final boss for M&L: BIS had like less than 3,000? Not completely sure about M&L: SS. And all of the final bosses in the Mario & Luigi series are some form of Bowser, M&L:SS Bowletta, Cackletta after taking over BOWSER's body, M&L:PIT Shrowser, at the very end, BOWSER after eating the Elder Shroob Mushroom, and M&L:BIS Dark Bowser, the Dark Star after it had copied BOWSER's body, powers and combined it with the Dark power.

Reminds me of the dark atmosphere in the battle. By the time I saw those Shroob saucers falling to their deaths as part of an attack... it was then that I was fighting a demon, rather then a beast. Mario villains always seem to stand out, much like Kirby villains.
Even though Super Paper Mario is much darker than Partners in Time it doesn't mean that this game is any less dark, I mean you literally see toads slowly die as there vim is extracted from them. This song though is just bloody brilliant.
EPS, Cackletta's Soul, Dark Star Core, Cullex, Giygus and CHUCK NORRIS mixed together. How scary that would be is about as scary AMAZING this remix is! 8D AWESOME!!!

This is by far the hardest boss I've faced in the seires. Even more than Cackletta's Soul.

i remember when this battle got dramatic. this was my second game for the ds and this is one of the best ds games ever! :')

The elder Princess Shroob is far more difficult to defeat than her sister, even if she can't be compared with Dark Bowser who is far stronger and more difficult to defeat!

LazyGamerBoy54321 From this series I only played Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story until now (and I'm thinking about playing Dream Team, but I don't know if I shall or not :P) and my personal opinion is that Dark Bowser is far more difficult to defeat than the elder Princess Shroob. But okay, different opinions^^ One person can do something better than another person, but is worse in other things than this other person^^

Naturmacht1 YES. Play Dream Team. It's AWESOME! As LazyGamerBoy54321 said, after beating the game you unlock the Hard Mode. The Hard Mode makes enemies deal more damage, AND you have an EVEN LOWER item limit. I think it's, what, maybe 10-20 per item? xD

As a kid I knew that the Shroobs’ weakness was ice, and as a kid, that weirded me out, because they lived on a COLD distant planet. But as today, I was contemplating that, came to a realization that maybe THAT WAS why they left and for a new planet, and was their only hope of survival. And they attacked a planet that they could conquer, that was normally warm so they could survive. But sadly for the Shroobs, it meant extinction.

It’s possible they wanted to destroy what was as alien to them as their planet was to us. They could not survive in the mushroom kingdom because it was different from their dead planet... the shroobified castle and purple fungal bodies all point to the fact that they were trying to recreate their home on Mario’s world... of course this would kill the native inhabitants... their planet dies because it has no parent star to nurture it as the intro said... they were just trying to get back what they needed to live. It drove them insane. The elder was the only one who was still sane because she was trying to be strong for her people and her sister who had Also lost her mind...
The amount of suicide reference in the game like the kamikaze one just shows this game was darker than the rest.

this fight is amazing because it really expresses what is at steak! mario and luigi are the last hope for their ruined kingdom and if they loose the fight then it is both figuratively and literally game over! this boss fight is unmatched throughout the entire sires showing what is truly darkest hour of he mushroom kingdom.
I just finished mario and luigi partners in time and this boss was a pain mostly due to the limited bros attacks I had left so I had to use red shell on her feet over and over then jump on her crown a lot and jump on her head it was a struggle for me took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes the theme went perfect with the struggle between me and elder princess shroob. I was not under leveled I had level 27 and 26 team present day mario being the only level 27.

This music totally surprised me. Most of the other tunes from the game were fun and and a rhythm to them. But then THIS! Slow, beautiful and quite imposing at points.
And this song sounds like something you’d sing to someone who was dying...

as a child, i was very disapointed of the final boss music, because i heared the inside story boss music first, and expected a similar epic action music, but now, i realize, that such a music style dont fit here, and now this is my alltime favourite final boss music. its such an epic fight like this.

Did anyone notice that this boss had a total of 6,000 HP while the final boss for M&L: BIS had like less than 3,000? Not completely sure about M&L: SS. And all of the final bosses in the Mario & Luigi series are some form of Bowser, M&L:SS Bowletta, Cackletta after taking over BOWSER's body, M&L:PIT Shrowser, at the very end, BOWSER after eating the Elder Shroob Mushroom, and M&L:BIS Dark Bowser, the Dark Star after it had copied BOWSER's body, powers and combined it with the Dark power.
I just died thinking about how effed up and insane that mash up would be.

Reminds me of the dark atmosphere in the battle. By the time I saw those Shroob saucers falling to their deaths as part of an attack... it was then that I was fighting a demon, rather then a beast. Mario villains always seem to stand out, much like Kirby villains.
Even though Super Paper Mario is much darker than Partners in Time it doesn't mean that this game is any less dark, I mean you literally see toads slowly die as there vim is extracted from them. This song though is just bloody brilliant.
