Mr. Nimoy and Mr. Horner; together in 82 and 84 they made gold and gave us a cinematic masterpiece. Today, they gave us new reasons to truly appreciate they're legacies, and now...may they boldly go where no one has gone before.

James Horner created a fantastic score here for both Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek III - The Search For Spock as the music matches the tones of both films perfectly, really elevating the emotions and action throughout both movies, making both these films even more awesome than they already were!

In the first 50 seconds, Horner somehow manages to weave (using old melodies) both a refreshed sense of wonderment as well as heartaching nostalgia. In so doing the music captures the shared histories of Kirk, Spock and the rest of the Enterprise crew and, for the audience, a hopeful expectation of more adventures to come... Well done Mr. Horner (and Leonard Nimoy who directed this movie)!!!

I just love how he uses Alexander Courage material so well, weaving it into his nautical and sweeping main theme, I feel his melody matched even Jerry Goldsmith's, in the second and 3rd film the way everything felt was nautical and seafaring not so much science fiction thereby this soundtrack fitting perfectly nto the film.

The search for Spock really is underrated and I find it a better film than even voyage home and undiscovered country. Sure it has a few minor plot holes, but the emotional depth, the journey, and the character development for Kirk, Spock, Bones, and the crew in general really is phenomenal. I feel this Trek is the most character driven Star Trek movie in the franchise.

@S. T. I'm gonna have to reply. I like this version over the music played during the credits of Khan. The pacing in this version feels quicker, more energetic. Not that Khan's credit music feels dull, but there is definitely a speed difference. And I believe that's a composer choice, not recording speeds. I've always preferred this version.
