I thought the US was famous for issuing medals for one thing & another. However I think the North Koreans take th e cake here. I served in the Australian army for several years but I'm only entitled to wear the Australian defence medal. The female AFP officer you refer to may have served in the military but those decorations she wears are likely for overseas deployment & service in the Solomon Islands & these sort of places.
