Nice review. Unlike R1 this has a rubber outsole. This year Tyr and M2C are the most interesting new participants in the running shoe marketplace.

I really like this shoe! I've been surprised how good MtC and TYR have been in their first year (I know TYR has almost 40 years of experience, but not with running!).

This is the review I've been waiting for. Having worn both the R1 and the S1, if you are going to run five marathons in five days, which would you choose, even if you are alternating with another shoe -- like the Superblast -- for example? Or maybe not alternate, and wear the shoe all five days, which would you choose? Thx, Matt.

I would probably choose the R1 and that’s only because it’s slightly lighter. The S1 is just as comfy and I’d have no problem running in it for an extended time.
I like the idea of the dual lacing system on the R1 but in reality I don’t think I’d use it (I didn’t have to adjust it in testing).

Just bought this running shoe, little steep in price but it will be worth it. As far as keeping injuries at bay and a top quality shoe for durability. Does it need to be broken in and also can I utilize it on a half trail/half road tempo run at 7:00-8:00min pace?🏃🏻‍♂️👟🙂

It does not need to be broken in. It feels good out of the box. It is not a trail shoe in any way. Like any road shoe it can be used on hard packed flat trails, but it doesn’t have the grip for anything more than that!

    How is toe box room?
Is there enough room in the forefront for angry bunions?

@@Darthgorilla For me, the toe box is roomier than some narrow shoes I’ve run in but less so than others. Definitely not as wide as Altra or Topo shoes. I don’t know how bad your bunions are, but these are worth a try.

      Thanks Matt
      I’ll give it a try
Typically I’ve run in topo (although for me tends to run a bit short for a 13)
I don’t run in Altra any more (zero drop didn’t agree with me)
Lately, I’ve been running in ghost max
Was looking for something slightly different to rotate and confuse my wife why so many shoes are delivered to our house😂
I enjoy your thorough reviews and recently subscribed!

Is the s1 flat foot friendly?

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  3 місяці тому +1

People with flat feet have different needs, so it's tricky to just say yes or no on them being flat-foot-friendly. The insert is removable, so can be replaced with something that works for you if the one that comes with it doesn't. The shoe is fairly flexible and the toe box has an average width.

@@its_Matt_B_ fair answer, Is hard to find a proper stability shoe. The Asics gt 2160 from back the with the duomax was the sweet spot and is impossible finding something similar. Asics made the gt 2160 again but as a lifestyle shoe without the dual density foam so is categorized as a lifestyle shoe. Im willing to try the s1 tho
