That give away is amazing. Thanks for the opportunity. God bless.
Thank you my friend, ill be giving that away when we hit 20K in subs,we got aways to go!!!
@ patiently waiting for that moment. Already subbed. So you have my vote.
Good choice with the Knipex.
Thanks. I almost picked the Gold icon ratchet but I prefer something I will use daily.
Those would have been my two choices as well!
The gold ratchet would have been nothing more than a display piece, a real cool one tho
@@mumfordalien1794 I definitely agree. 💯
I love comfort, grip and low back drag
Another great content video here, Jeff. I, too, also have all 4 tooth count varieties in all 3 sizes (about 18 or so ratchets). I actually haven't found too many flaws in any of them (outside a random slight backdrag issue). Got 2 big boys, both 1/2", a 25" 84- tooth flex head and a 18" new 120XP flexhead. The 1/4" ones ate prolly me favorite, especially the new locking flexheads. Thanks again for the video, my friend.
Jeff, pliers can feel good in your hands too! I bet those Knipex feel great! I liked all four of those ratchets. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
You have good taste. That 120 ratchet was ranked number one by Project Farm when he tested it against a bunch of other brands.
I have the old 120xp and one 120xp and they work great, did so many car repairs with them, many break jobs, suspension repairs, no issues at all. I like the longer handles my go to is the 15" for 3/8 and 9" or 11" for 1/4". For 1/2" I usually use impact tools anyway, I can't remember the last time I used a 1/2" ratchet except for a torque wrench.
I also really enjoy using the GW 120 flex head 3/8ths as well as the 1/4 inch. You’ll hit the 20K subscriber mark THIS YEAR fer sher!
I love my hard handle 84t with a matco 88 rebuild kit in it. It's my fav 3/8' ratchet.
Great video topic Jeff, love this one!
My favorite tool is a smooth ratchet
i’m a fan of the 120T. have a great weekend.
Another great video. I still like hard handled ratchets. I wonder how that rubber will stand the test of time?
I have the 120 comfort grip flex heads i bought for use at home and i was really surprised i like them enough to use at work in a everyday work environment i do own some expensive ratchets and most of them have been around for years when the prices were high but not like they are today
Jeff is in the mutha fucking house!!!!!
I've been Happy with the 84 tooth ones. They are my go to ratchets
Just got the 120xp 3 ratchet set. I haven’t used them yet.
Great testing review , your opinion is trust worthy , someday l would like to get one of those ratchets. THANKS JEFF
Thanks, Jeff! It’s hard to beat any of these ratchets for “bang for the buck.” I think they’ve gotten them progressively better with each now head count introduction.
The newer xp120 for the win
Thanks, Jeff!
My favorite is the 90 tooth. I want to like the new 120xp but the play in the socket because of the detent bothers me. I’m tempted to buy a rebuild kit for it to see if maybe they repositioned it. With that said I would put the 90t up with the tool truck ratchets. You should try the Mac axis locking flex head ratchet. The one I picked up 3 weeks ago has almost no play in the flex joint. It’s quickly becoming my favorite ratchet.
Hi Trackstar,i should and will try the Mac axis locking flex head ratchet!! thank you!!
Luv your tool videos. Keep em coming!
I don't have any actual Gearwrench ratchets but do have Apex made Duralasts and Husky. I have been pleased with them so far.
Have not upgraded to the locking flex yet, certainly on my list. Knipex pliers are a good choice for Fox.
I have the Quinn ratchets 90 tooth whitch are the same as the GW, but I would like to try a GW 120. Thanks Jeff
The GW 120 are nice,no doubt!! thank you mike!!!
I have a 90 tooth 3/8 comfort grip one of my favorites. Holds the socket on very good Like the grip. Use it all the time. Might look into some 120xps.
I have the old style GW 120 3/8" non lock flex as my oil change work horse. It's got a bit of chrome worn off, and the joint has a bit of lean after 1.5 years of use but hasn't skipped yet. I even use it on caliper bracket bolts sometimes, and so far, it refuses to quit.
Im sold on 90t GW all day
Hello again, Jeff
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 All of the ratchets look great. I have never owned a hard handle ratchet. It's all been the metal handles. Until I bought my Pittsburgh Pro Roto Head Ratchets. I 'll use them, but I can't say I would recommend them. As I haven't used them in enough jobs yet. Stay safe and warm. Again thank you 👌
I would say all those ratchets are really good. But I’ve really started getting a bond with the 120T. The slop on those are very minimal to none, And boy can you put some ass behind it. I absolutely fell in love with it because of the torque you can put on it.
I appreciate the more teeth in a ratchet, but the higher the tooth count the less strength IMO…. The gears in the ratchet are smaller and even with more surface area touching in the teeth, the teeth are more prone to slip IMO…. Yes, I love the fact that the swing is more adapting to the situations, but I have fount the fearless ratchets , that I have , seem to reach and do what I need. I use my old Craftsman for most everything and rarely need much tighter swing. Those wrenches your showing are nice, but can get very expensive….. thanks Jeff
Gearwrench is good.
That 90 tooth was the thinnest to me. It looks like the old pro series craftsman. Right before they went belly up. It has a problem with switching directions if you put the wrong oil in it. Side note do a video who beats Koken ratchets for the price, they don’t offer locking flex head so matco/gearwrench should be out. Even tho head to head comparison (no pun intended) Koken should win.
gearwrench is awesome have an old 120 tooth 3/8, one of the pawls broke. they sent me a new ratchet. not what i was expecting
I do like my new 120xp. I am happy the 84T exists, because my old Craftsman 84T premium ratchet would lock up when brand new, and the GW paw solved the issue.
I found a practically new 1/4" 90 tooth for $8 at a flea market, it's my go-to in that size now. Not the smoothest thing out there but pretty good.
I haven't tried gw ratchet yet.
The 90 and the new 120xp are awesome! Have both. I truly think they're the best ratchets for the money AND they warranty them! Soft grip on the 90 isn't great because of the flat spot. I got over it eventually but prefer the solid handles...personal preference.
I really like the 90t and the new version 120xp, though I don’t think it’s tight enough to offer any swing advantage over the 90t. The 84t are a great option if one is on a budget. The locking flex head of the new gen 120xp though seems the best to date and the head is narrower than the other offerings in their lineup
I have the SATA 120XP rigid ratchet - identical to the old-style Gearwrench as far as I can tell, and about half the price.
How do you do it? Do you ever take a day off? Killer video after video...
Fyi the Quinn 90t low profiles are going to be 40% off in march at HF, and they are made in Taiwan GW clones.
That what I would have picked can't go wrong knipix the 90 great wrench is the one I like best of them
I spend more money everytime I watch jeff lol
I've got two GW 84's and they are nice for sure. My probation officer wont allow me to purchase any more ratchets so I can't try the 120's.
Jeff do a video on the gearwrench digital torque wrench. I just purchased the 3/8 xp120 with the narling handle haven’t used it yet though
It's time people were more honest about that new GW 120 flex head ratchet. The slop in the flex mechanism makes mine feel like a cheap toy. Don't be fooled by the hype. There are plenty of better quality alternatives in the price range like Koken, Bahco, Blue Pount / Williams, Stalwille, probably even Facom!
I mentioned the slop in the flex mechanism, and the anvi detent balls poor location!! i did also say its not a home run,or a perfect ratchet!!
@jefftovani5535 absolutely Jeff I noticed that You mentioned these flaws, but so many "reviewers" don't. Seems suspect to me
Have GW 90 and 120 and they're excellent ratchets. My next GW ratchets will have the quick release.
I'm not as impressed with Gearwrench as I used to be. Nothing wrong with them. But I prefer 72 or 90 tooth ratchets overall. Though I really like the 24 tooth Koken that I won from this channel a couple of months ago. It's got me wanting to buy the 1/4" and 1/2" versions. I didn't think a 24 tooth ratchet could be that smooth. Plus, a high tooth count doesn't make much, if any, of a difference when working on most things. And only in some really cramped areas.
i have the new 120xp... i also dont like the amount of lock play... but overall its a solid ratchet. the 90t with soft grip handle is also a nice attractive option. however, if someone is looking for the holy grail of 3/8 ratchets, i'd throw matco's locking flexhead in the conversation, although not a fan of the matco price.
Just picked up the 84 tooth locking flex head. Planning on opening the putting some flitz inside, run it with a drill on low for 5 or 10 min, opening it back up then putting some good oil in it.
I started with older craftsman lol then 90T gear wrench then got there new 120xp locking flex liked my 3/8 that I bouts the larger 12 and 1/4 I really like the new 120 I’ve wondered how they compare to the snapon
I was looking at getting a new 1/4”, it looks like I’ll be getting the 120xp! Thanks for the video.
Have you tried a Blackhawk ratchet? Apparently they’re made by Proto
I don't wanna be that guy, but I'll be that guy... FIRST!
I've got a couple of the non-locking flex head 120xp's. I like 'em.
Is there a perfect ratchet in your opinion?
😊
