Buffalo Chasing Male Lion

On afternoon drive sitting next to the waterhole we had a big male Buffalo having a drink and suddenly the young male Lion also joined. At first he noticed we are looking at something and then took a lie down in the road.
The Buffalo quickly became aware of the male Lion's presence close by and made a point thereof to chase him off and away from the water. The male Lion at first did not feel to bothered with the chase off but when the Buffalo showed his determination to get him away he quickly dived into the drainage line next to our vehicle.
Typically a lone Buffalo will be a much easier target for a pride of Lion to take down but in this case the male Lion was alone and also still at a young age lacking experience to take down such big prey by himself, so he knew its not worth the try.
Both animals parted in their own direction letting each other have the rest of the day in peace.
