I saw this show when it was in Seattle. The 'music non stop' vocoded voice lasted for nearly 30 minutes after the show. It was ethereal and utterly and completely cool.
Thak you so much fot the video! I saw their show in 2005 ou 2005 (can't remember exactaly) and last month, in Brazil and this music was really different. They looked more spontaneous in the video.
Ableton? Not sure about that. Last I heard they were incorporating Cubase into their shows a bit, but they are also still running analog sequencers as well. In fact, most of their tracks are played completely live with no pre-sequences at all. The sequencers are used as more of an interface for plug ins and soft synths to slim down their massive touring rig. At least that what I read recently in an interview with Hutter.
And the pioneers of Hip Hop. Back in the days DJs in New York sampled Kraftwerk. Like Afrika Bambaata on Planet Rock. Rapping came over from record intros from Jamaican Radio DJs and Boom ....Hip Hop was born in New York in the Bronx. So from a cultural perspective Kraftwerk can be seen as the pioneers of Hip Hop AND all electronic music.
excellent!!! brilliant timeless track and outstanding video showing keyboard action close up + decent sound quality too - especially for the equipment you managed to get into the gig!! must have been difficult to hold zoom steady and appreciate the music at the same time!! would have given anything to see this performance at Tilburg....
Every music has its style, and this is said by a JMJ, DP and Kraftwerk fan. Nafoute, I respect your opinion, Kraftwerk are fathers of electronica, but JMJ will always have a place of my mind. (JMJ is a Kraftwerk fan!)
Actually not. There were plenty of others before. For example, Karlheinz Stockhausen (1950s), Wendy Carlos (1968), and then Thaddeus Cahill LONG before them (1897). Research Cahill's early teleharmoniums, that weighed tons each. There were also many others who contributed to this genre of music.
What does it stand for? They were pioneers of the genre you call electronic music. Their music consagrates the technology, machine, evolution, future, which makes sense, because in the 70's technology in general (pocket calculator, first computers etc...), emerged, and began to take a part in our lives.
don't under-estimate these german roboter, i saw them last night before radiohead in são paulo, they're concert was really cool to dance to and visually amazing. besides, if there were to kraftwerk, there would be no dj shadow, so there would've been no ok computer. =]
Wenn Kraftwerk mal bissel was anspruchsvolleres machen würden und anfangen würden Psytrance zu produzieren boah will garnicht wissen was da rauskommen würde:-)
dude... please keep in mind that when you hear dj tiesto, depeche mode and any dubstep shit, they are all inspired by these guys. They invented a genre called "Electronic music"
can you believe it? this guys make music like this in the same time when other people listen to the beatles and jimmy hendrix with long hair and smoking weed.
Jarre actually uses 6 musicians. Himself, one guy on drum, one guy on synth, and 4 others doing whatever they need. Exception was the Monaco show, that was 4. In terms of complexity, the music is both heavily alike, yet very different. Jarre, like Kraftwerk, is not about the people who make it, but about the idea.
Ok, it's a shame I couldn't hide the steady cam and all the technical crew in my pants that night. I only had room for that old tiny canon mv4 But... have you seen any other kraftwerk video showing more kraftwerk's members's fingers close-ups ? Wow !
u actually answer yourself already in your statement! .your hearing it! There s a diffrence between hearing sumthing and listening to it. Listening to something is hearing plus sumthing else. magical factor x if u like.. its hard to put in words.
I agree, but don't forget, they need machines because this is too much for four men to do by hand. Just go back to 1981. The magic comes from there. For the record, I love both KW and Jarre, don't worry.
this consoles that use doing this time. are they all in one MIDI controllers where the controls and buttons are individually assigned to the GUI on their laptop´s ?
Although I adore Jarre's music, Let me say, at Oxygene IV he was heavily "influenced" or inspired by one song of mr Gershon Kingsley. Yep, if you listen carefully, you hear Popcorn!
Hard to believe that these 4 old dudes are the reason music sounds the way it does today.
I LOVE HOW FLORIAN JUMPS OF THE STAGE
Florian Schneider jumping and running off the stage at 4:16 :)
I saw this show when it was in Seattle. The 'music non stop' vocoded voice lasted for nearly 30 minutes after the show. It was ethereal and utterly and completely cool.
Each time I hear their music - I'm in another world - Wish they can come to Southern Calif. - I would like to see them again. Love their music - - -

The Masters of electronic music indeed. The true godfathers!
The Pioneer's of Electronica!!
Are they musicians that sounds as DJs, or DJs that sounds as musicians? Simply perfect!
Ableton? Not sure about that. Last I heard they were incorporating Cubase into their shows a bit, but they are also still running analog sequencers as well. Excellent video I could see everything they did with their tables : )
Kraftwerk is the probably the only band that come get away with leaving the stage while the music is still playing.
Wow, this is rocking!! I love Kraftwerk!
AMAZING .. MUSIC NON STOP
And the pioneers of Hip Hop. Back in the days DJs in New York sampled Kraftwerk. Like Afrika Bambaata on Planet Rock. Rapping came over from record intros from Jamaican Radio DJs and Boom ....Hip Hop was born in New York in the Bronx. saw them live in SF nearly a decade ago, and they were epic
excellent!!! brilliant timeless track and outstanding video showing keyboard action close up + decent sound quality too - especially for the equipment you managed to get into the gig!! must have been difficult to hold zoom steady and appreciate the music at the same time!! would have given anything to see this performance at Tilburg....

GRANDES, VIVA KRAFTWERK "THE BEST"
Thanks for uploading.
Not to mention not being on stage at all for a whole song (The Robot). ;-)
Love them !
Cool vid, v. interesting zoom-ins alright. Good upload, Thanks!
These guys had a impact on early hip hop back in the day many New York Dj said so......
So Brilliant...
Always Kraftwerk fan

Hearing this song makes me think of a club...

BORING? GET REAL! Kraftwerk dont need gimmicks, I suppose you wanted dancers! Hey LOVED the zoom-ins GREAT!
@Chaltok Me too. It was Kraftwerk that gave me my first taste for techno music
Word is they run Cubase SX onstage.
This is one band I wish I had seen live...along with Elvis and Led Zeppelin...

ppl who started elektro!! they are genius!
dude... please keep in mind that when you hear dj tiesto, depeche mode and any dubstep shit, they are all inspired by these guys. They invented a genre called "Electronic music"
Wow, the music does not stop when the musicians leave the stage!
Florian jumping and running off stage like "man I was about to piss my fucking grid suit"
can you believe it?
this guys make music like this in the same time when other people listen to the beatles and jimmy hendrix with long hair and smoking weed.
I'd bet anything that they're all using Ableton Live.
This version is even better than the Minimum/Maximum version.
Florian “peng peng” Schneider 😎
Interresant mal zu sehen wie die das Spielen
Awesome, kraftwerk show down/ play off.

@Tisafo Quite difficult, I was born in 1983. To love them, though.
;)
geilster electro *__*
wusste garnicht dass die noch auf tour sind..
Florian added his own bits on 0:05 lol
You probably like seeing dancers which make concerts wack. They're the masters of techno. I love it as it is! I hate dancers on stage.
That's good footage, I was wondering if they were really doing anything behind the laptops.
priceless
im sure they could get a regular gig in vegas with this performance concept, right alongside blue man group
classic
