Ya... Just imagine it.... Oooo, the danger! Somebody could die of boredom watching this video. Now imagine getting honest with your video titles. Imagine me saying Boooo!
I'm a Hawaii diver and where the waves crash you can see a drop and also is your not careful the waves could smash you and take you away. You can estimate the power of the current by looking at the waves. Hawaii has bigger waves but these waves look more strong
the black sand was due to a volcano that erupted many yrs ago and the place was almost covered with 80ft of lava then due to the ocean water chunks of lava , is what we see as black sand
I'll never ever go there.. but I've seen the ocean and understand. But I find this beach the most gorgeous beach on the planet. Everything about it. The sand, the rocks, the rock walls, the waves, the sound, the sunshine... ya this place is my favorite place on the planet.. and I've never been there, but I already know that it's a tremendously holy place.
So, now I’ve gone on and on about how amazing this place is, and chances are you will take my word for it and go there like every other tourist that visits Iceland. Great for you! But (yep, there’s always a but) you have to be careful! I’m not joking around. This place can be seriously dangerous if you’re not careful. You see, the waves at Reynisfjara are especially strong and extremely unpredictable. They can seem nice and mild, barely touching the surface of the sand one minute. But totally crazy and wild the next. Don’t believe me? Well, what if I told you that a woman died there in 2016 when she was swept out to sea and another woman drowned there in 2007? And just this year, a woman who fell into the ocean at Kirkjufjara, a part of Reynisfjara, died.
It is a beautiful beach, but the waves are very unpredictable. It was a quiet day when I filmed, but impossible to swim and there are signs posted as you enter the area about the dangers of "sneaker waves" and rip currents. But still beautiful and dangerous.
A significant number of people (tourists) have been caught by "sneaker waves" which had the effect of dragging them into the sea - and once in there's little hope of getting out, the water is freezing.
Yup. Read it somewhere saying this black sea is beautiful but can be dangerous cus it has claimed many lives. The waves are very dangerous should always stay away from
Yes the dates are correct, but I waited till I returned home before I published it on UA-cam. By the way, that was a fairly calm day when I filmed, so you can imagine what is like on a stormy day. Thanks for you query.
@@Playboi.carter sneaker waves, big waves crash and the foam keeps coming in more than usual and tourists are being swept into the sea. Many tourists have died, you have only a few minutes to get out before you die from hypothermia or a heart attack in the freezing Icelandic sea.

True it is beautiful, but as you enter the beach area there are warning signs about how dangerous it is. Very unpredictable waves, known as "sneaker waves" which hide behind the main wave. It was a fairly calm day when we were there, but when the wind gets up its positively dangerous. Very easy to get sucked into the foaming roaring tide. There are riptides right along the beach. I hope that enlightens you about the dangers.
The beach is dangerous... I mean, did you see that one guy? He almost got his feet wet. But I have to admit it is a beautiful Beach if a whole bunch of water and sand butters your biscuits.
@@glitchnyrmatrix7296 it was scary. The waves were extremely huge and loud. I call myself staying in safe distance but still had to run at one point. In this video the waves are calm compared to when I was there.
Thanks for your query about the black sand..., the reason it's that colour is it from a volcanic eruption some years ago. Iceland is one of the most volcanic countries in the world. There is evidence all over the place of such eruptions, the last major one was in 2010 which caused massive disruption to the airline's in Europe and beyond.
Very easy to misjudge the power of the waves which seem to gain power as they approach the beach. There are "sneaker waves" which follow the first wave and will kill if you attempt to swim here, not forgetting the rip currents which occur right across this area. This was filmed on a fairly quiet day weather wise, but when the wind gets up the waves are huge! I wouldn't have been able to film or even stand where I took the video from. Hope that sheds some light on your query.
Sneaker waves, too many tourists have been swept by those and died because they don't listen to the Icelandic authorities when they tell them to stay away.
@@goransvraka3171 Not like a rip, it's really big waves that break and their foam keeps coming in, more than usual. It catches people off guard and they can be swept into the sea. As an Icelander I can vouch for this being dangerous. Almost every year some tourist ventures out too far underestimating the current and the temperature of the water. The current is very strong and can easily take you down if you get caught in it. This water is cold even during the summer months. If your body is not experienced in swimming in cold water, then your body goes into shock after only a few minutes. You also need to be a world class swimmer to be able to get back to shore if you get swept out to sea and can manage the cold. There are a few rock formations you can see on the beach but that is only accessible during absolute low tide, but there are always some people that ignore the warnings and get caught out there and think the can handle the current of the water rushing in and out.
