    From the top of my head the worst was the otherwise excellent Liverpool show of this years Campaign for Musical Destruction Tour (Curated by Napalm Death, also featuring Pig Destroyer, Primitive Man and Wormrot). During Napalm Death's set I staggered out of the pit to catch my breath (foolishly at the barrier) and neither me nor security noticed a crowd surfer coming up behind me, they ended up landing on my head and trapping it against the barrier, while violently twisting my neck (not intentionally). It's the first time I've ever felt I was in legitimate danger at a show and I think there's some minor but long lasting damage there now, thankfully they got pulled off and I got out of it relatively lightly considering I could have had my neck broken.
    As for weirdest, funnily enough I've just come back from Arctangent Festival today and at least the weirdest moment of this weekend came from a band called Maruja, who's saxophonist opened up the crowd, climbed over the barrier and provoked a wall of death by strutting from person to person dramatically playing smooth saxophone licks.
    The best experience is hard to pin down, I've been fortunate to have so many on a regular basis, all excellent for various different reasons... since it's still fairly fresh in my mind watching UBOA performing The Origin of My Depression in full at this years Roadburn and following that up with Birds In Row performing Gris Klein is probably one of the biggest emotional rollercoasters live music has ever taken me on and is absolutely genius curation and timetabling by the Roadburn Crew.
    Just to add, congrats on getting that Skating Polly support slot! Do you think you'd ever reach out for a collab or split release with them if it was feasible?

      Glad to hear you're okay! Shows can unintentionally be dangerous sometimes and that's just how it is. But people who just go there to hurt others... Let's say I don't like them :)
      The saxophone sounds hilarious :D glad you had a good time at Roadburn. I've never been there but know a few people who go there.
      Thank you :) I mean that would be absolutely great but as far as I know they don't really do split releases and their collabs so far have only been with much more famous people. As cool as it was to play with them I simply don't feel like we're on the same or remotely comparable level when it comes to skill. Also, we're just an independent DIY band so I don't think it's really feasible. But our album will be out in two months anyway! I will probably make a video about it.

    My worst experience here in Mexico wasn't too bad. It was Megadeth in a smaller venue, and it was packed so the human tide left me with some bruises, but that's it; overcrowding is def the worst problem here. I've only been to one in the US: Beyond Creation and NeO in Houston last year. It was very comfortable, but the audience wasn't particularly energetic, which is a difference I've noticed between Latin America and the US/Europe, but that's another conversation.

      I can imagine that there's a huge difference. How the crowd behaves really depends on where you are. There are also a lot of differences within Europe generally speaking.
      But now the question is... do you prefer comfortable crowds with less energy or energetic but overcrowded shows more?

      @itzanowski Oh, I'm getting older so the comfortable crowd, no doubt. What I've done for some years now for places with standing room only is getting really early to grab a place right at the security fence, so not only am I not getting crushed from all sides, I also don't have tons of recording phones blocking my view and I'm as close as possible to the stage. 😁

    I don't think I've ever had a bad or weird experience at a show. I don't attend many huge fests, so maybe that's why. My favorite experience was seeing Hatebreed in a tiny venue in Seattle (Same venue they filmed the "I Will Be Heard" music video). It was in 2010 at the height of their popularity with an all Hardcore band lineup. They played "Satisfaction..." In its entirety. I stage dove so many times, and moshed hard asf the whole time. From the first note the place erupted in fists and spin kicks, it was one of the most violent shows I've ever been to and easily my favorite.

      Oh also Skating Polly is sick, I've been listening to them for a few years now but I haven't seen them yet.

    Manowar to me is a shitpost band. And after one of their members was outed as a chomo, it become even more so.

      Wtf, thanks for bringing that up! That went right over my head but I'm glad he's in prison now. Also reading about their non-statement I'm not really surprised they don't seem to care...

      @@itzanowski if they did have to acknowladge it, it would lead questions about certain lyrics they have. Such as: ''May your sword be as wet as young girl in her prime.'' Beforehand it was just a really cringey line of lyrics. Now it seems a lot more suspicious.

    • @itzanowski
      @itzanowski 2 місяці тому

      Yes, definitely. Unfortunately these kinds of lyrics were very widespread in the rock scene at that time. And so was disgusting behaviour :/
