[ENG SUBS] AOT3 SP - Kamiya Hiroshi Shows Respect For Levi's Action Scene

Another short from AOT Season 3 Live Reading Event.
This was from the second corner 'Nenpyou Talk' (年表 トーク).
The actors chose a memorable scene from the episodes in Season 3 Part 1 and explained why the scene was impactful to them.
Kamiya-san acknowledging how much work it goes into ONE cut of an anime episode just makes me respect this man so so much.

Unfortunately I had to trim out the actual clip from the anime due to copyright restrictions. The clip shown was about 40secs long and it was in S3P1 ep 2 (episode 39 as a whole) - the Levi & Kenny chase scene.

Btw, Imai also did the Beast Titan vs Levi scene, the Levi vs Female Titan scene, the Hange squad vs Colossal Titan scene, and many MANY more, he is the climax animator of AoT and a damn good one after all. Most of the amazing animation cuts that usually show up in an Anime are almost always due to the individual animator volunteering purely out of passion for a series.

@@DenpaHeidanSubs Yep, also he is a freelancer so he probably gets paid somewhat decently. (Also you might know another scene he did from another popular Anime being the Saitama VS Genos fight from One Punch Man season 1).
Freelancers always played a big part of AoT, specifically Imai, Ebisu and Ebara are the most talented of the team, you can definitely feel the lack of their presence in season 4. Tho there is hope they might return for the finale if they're not busy with other projects...

I love how he went to talk to the animators and showed respect towards them. They really do so much hard work (overworked even) and I wish there was a way to give them more spotlight like this! Kamiya seems like such a kind person

And I swear to god if Imai-san isn't paid as much as what the budget for Demon Slayer episode 19 was, I'm gonna start a rumbling for him. He deserves it.

kamiya getting lightheaded from just. voicing levi is so funny. hes a fictional beast and us normal humans here like "drawing a single line on that image would kill me" and "levi's scream makes my head spin"

Imai-san is a genius! I have never seen anything like that first episode of season 3.. Levi's cut was insane and out of this world. Otskare sama and thank you for translating this clip!

Ohh so that’s what Kamiyan said in this segment (been waiting for someone to translate his comment abt this famous Levi and MPs chase tho it’s obv that he’ll talk abt the amazing animation 😆). Kudos to Imai-san for this epic sequence!
