June 8th: Happy birthday Comedian-Singer-Actor-Impressionist George Kirby (1923-1995) One of the first black 'crossover' comedians, to perform in front of white audiences. Thank you and God bless. RIP. Thank you and bless Miss Della Reese. RIP. Thanks for the upload, touhi. Blessings
I can't believe I'm seeing this ! One of my absolute favourite Della recordings and Mr George Kirby - the same George Kirby who recorded 'What Can I Do' for Cadet records in 1965 ! Sad to hear he passed in 1995.
This must go in my topten youtube ......You see I happen to think that "Let me in your life " was her at her best.....She worked wonders with "Being Green"....There is not a bad track on the album.....This seems to be from that period....Her voice is at her peak....She is sensational !!!!
In 72 Kirby had a syndicated comedy show called"Half the George Kirby comedy hour". I watched it on WJZ in Baltimore. Group W , who owned the station, produced the show(CBS bought out Group W). Hey Aspire, TV One, or Bounce, how about cutting a deal with CBS to air this forgotten show.
LOL at the second song title "Good, Bad, Happy or Sad" listed at the beginning of the clip. Hmmm....I'm pretty sure Della is singing "Let's Stay Together". This clip is pure eye and ear candy. Thanks for posting!
there's been guesses to when this was...i'm gonna put mine in and say 1971 because of the fashions and styles and variety shows were a ratings powerhouse during the late 60s and early 70s...
Après une deuxième lecture, je me demande comment cette belle voix n'a pas plus de succès. Elle vaut bien "Cher" et bien plus que Beyoncé, par exemple. ❤Della❤
The interpretation is terrible, but I absolutely love it! These are two great songs that were soulful hits in the early seventies by Al Green and Issac Hayes. Della and George dilute the song, but there's something sweet and sentimental about this duet. And anyway, it beats watching Pat Boone sing these songs.
Precious Days, we will never get back. I thank God, we have them on utube.

Probably it is The George Kirby Show or something.
I'm sorry I do not understand it well because I am a Japanese.
I think Never Can Say Goodbye was originally sung by The Jackson Five?
Anybody know what year this was?
