- Turn up the volume and get ready to bang your head! We can’t tell if this is true, or a dream-but CME’s House Band just thrashed their way through a cover of Metallica’s seven-minute heavy metal epic, “One”! While our necks may be sore, seeing Nathaniel nail Kirk Hammett’s classic pick-tapping guitar pyrotechnics at the solo’s start makes this video well worth the watch, all the way through to the end!

More About "One"
"One" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica, released as the third and final single from the band's fourth studio album, ...And Justice for All (1988). Written by band members Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield, the song portrays a World War I soldier who is severely wounded-arms, legs and jaw blown off by a landmine, blind and unable to speak or move-begging God to take his life. His only hope is to devise a way to communicate with the hospital staff. In the music video, he jolts in the hospital bed, spelling "Kill me" in Morse code. Production of the song was done by the band alongside Flemming Rasmussen. The song was the band's first to chart in the U.S., reaching number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also a number one hit in Finland.
A video for the song was introduced in January 1989 on MTV. Shot in black and white by director Michael Salomon, the video's story is intercut with scenes taken from the 1971 anti-war film Johnny Got His Gun. Due to routinely being required to pay royalty fees to continue showing the music video, Metallica bought the rights to the film. The video was ranked at number one on MTV soon after its introduction.
Metallica performed "One" for the 31st Annual Grammy Awards show broadcast from Los Angeles in 1989. The next year, the song won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, the first ever to win in that category. The band also performed the song alongside pianist Lang Lang at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in 2014. The song is one of the band's most popular pieces and has remained a staple at live shows since the release of the album, and is the most performed song from ...And Justice for All.

Haha! That bass cable bit was a clever. Y'all pulled this one off perfectly, well done!
I thought that was done on purpose to illustrated how there wasn't any bass on the original recording.
@@ambulatemusic Well, not just on One, but the whole album. Again, it was clever of the band & it's made for some interesting Metallica lore over the years.
Sorry, Jason Newsted.
4:17 is the singular moment that makes this one of the best CME videos yet
🤘🤘
Thrash makes everything perfect.
This version of Lars yanked out the bass players cable. Lol
Holy shit, I miss my teen years.
I love that everyone put in the embellishments from the live version(s) over the years. Also having the bass unplugged for accuracy.
Thank you!! 🤘🤘
If you guys would have heard what I heard when I showed up to work that morning.....I honestly thought no one told me Metallica was going to be there!
This place has seriously got to be the best place to work in the entire world. Always a pleasure to watch.

I'm a folky, country, bluesgrassy with some jazz, blues, and classic rock kind of guy...But One will always be one of my all-time favorite songs. I've loved it since the day it hit our airwaves here in Chicago...WKQX, is that right? I can't remember. That's what became Q101 iirc. Oh, and y'all killed it!
