Hi everyone! Wanna see me perform this song live? At www.twitch.tv/supershigi I perform this song as well as From the Ground Up and music from Plants vs. Zombies, Deltarune and many other video game/animation tunes! Hope to see you there! Thank-u for all the kind comments over the years. I'm so thankful to be able to still be making video game music and original songs. I'll try to keep everyone updated on my new projects over at twitter.com/supershigi
I came back to watch this song again today and i started to cry of how long it has been since i heard these your songs for the first time either it being after beating plants vs zombies or being on youtube watching minecraft songs. Such nostalgia.
Wanted to revisit this video again today. It brings back a lot of great memories. I remember when I first fell in love with this song! It was a pleasure working with you Laura :) I'm glad I was able to make you an animation for this wonderful song! It was an honor working with you :)
I’m here because the comments on the animated video were turned off... I heard this song for the first time back when I first got into minecraft and loved it immediately. Now, coming back so many years later, it’s so nostalgic and still beautiful af. I miss the days when mc songs like this were popular :’)
Thank-you for sharing that with me, I really appreciate your comment. I'm so glad to know that my music could somehow help you out with things like that.
i’m feeling nostalgic, and then realized that some of my favorite music since I was young was produced by Laura. Songs like “zombie on my lawn” and “cube land” truly brings the nostalgia back in me, and they’re still beautiful even after all these years. I just want to thank you for making these music that were a part of some of my happiest memories, we love you Laura!
Relatable, man... Wish you all the best, personally I'm not going through my best time, but songs and any pieces of my life from those days give me strength and resolve to push forward. No matter what. As if I found a way to get back to my past self and stood in front of myself, after having finally solved all my problems. "I am no one, I have no place no one relates, And there is no sun, As the night covers the space, But I beg you, Please, please, Don't let this life, Go to waste."
Makes me cry, if you think about the lyrics more than the game's context, it's pretty cold to hear it. But it's a song that I love with all my strenght, it's pretty cool and has alot of memories within it :') thanks Laura, thanks to everyone who made it
This track gets me very emotional. Without minecraft I dont know if i would've turned out the same. Thank you for encapsulating how much minecraft meant to me with this song, I used to listen on repeat and cry and cry. Amazing memories.
Lyrics: I'm in a cube land I dig with cold hands I use this tools to try and Climb out of this mess i've made My door is open Skeletons and zombies I am broken, As they walk all over me But if i keep on building Walls, maybe they'll stay away Think fast, it's got to last If you're gonna make it through the rest of the day I'm trapped, i can't go back, I've made the choice to stay And we'll fight... Keep defending through the night (we'll fight the good fight) Live... We're all driven to survive (we'll fight the good fight) I'll keep going Just stay by my side I'm in a cube land My castle is so grand And once i lay these tracks i'll Finally make my escape I am no one I have no place, no one relates And there is no sun As the night covers this space But i beg you, please, please Don't let this life go to waste Think fast, it's got to last If you're gonna make it through the rest of the day I'm trapped, i can't go back, I've made the choice to stay And we'll fight... Keep defending through the night (we'll fight the good fight) Live... We're all driven to survive (we'll fight the good fight) I'll keep going Just stay by my side
August 10,2021 and this is the only one that allows comments still. I remember when I first heard the song in 2014 it was depressing, but now it's got sad overtones with hope buried beneath it all.
Something about the music style and just instrumental choice makes this stand out from any other Minecraft “original” song, 11 years later still one of the best
8 years have passed, and though i sometimes forget bout this one, i still keep coming back. God bless you, god bless your songs, or whatever you believe in
Besides the awesome background music, what made this song so great is it wasn't about how great someone's castle was, or how someone had a full suit of diamond armour. It was about a normal man in a terrifying, dangerous situation just trying to survive and escape, and at the end, he won. It is why a poor person trying to feed his family is more entertaining than a rich person eating food with gold leaf in it. It is why a normal person stranded in the middle of the ocean trying to find dry land, is more entertaining than someone getting an Olympics swimming medal. That is why this song is awesome!
David the monkey the animated one was made because steven aka slamacow (the animator) loved this song so much he wanted to make a animation for it. Like a music video. As a compliment, as in its so good (and he probably thought it deserved more but that was his part he wanted to play in making her more famous, he was also promoting her/advertising her so more people would go subscribe to her.)it deserves a animation for it more than any other normal minecraft song.
Damn this video and the editing of it makes me feel shivers down my spine and brain… it feels so nostalgic and makes me remember the vibes of that small Timelapse of 2012-2016 of UA-cam, Minecraft and the and the Internet in general

soooooo just got back into my minecraft hyperfixation yet again, been listening to the music that i used to and... holy shit when i say this song brought up so many emotions, so much so that i cant even find a way to pinpoint just exactly what it is. maybe im crying because deep down im realizing it'll never be as simple as it was 9 years ago? maybe im crying out of nostalgia, and these tears are actually a sign of appreciation for the memories i had. there is endless possible reasons to explain why im sobbing my fucking eyes out, but there is one thing that stands gosh darn true through all of them. i miss this. i wish i could relive every second and not take it for granted this time. i want to respect the time, as well as enjoy it, rather than just the latter. i... i just want to thank you Laura, for the amazing work you did and still do. you were part of my childhood and i didnt even know it.
i completely forgot about this song. i think i was too young to really remember it, but as soon as i heard it on spotify, i felt a sense of familiarity and found myself singing some of the parts as if i knew them completely.
Hello Laura, if you somehow see this I just wanted to say your music was a staple of my childhood. PVZ and Minecraft were two games I vividly remember playing. I loved minecraft content as a kid, and I don't even think I could begin to count how many times I listened to this song back then. To this day this track is still amazing. Thank you for such a great song and in general for how much your musical talent has shaped me. As of today I personally make music, and I can't help but be inspired by these tracks. And I will say, if you have any breakdowns of your songs (such as Cube Land), please point me in the direction. I would be so happy to see a breakdown of how you made this song, but I can't seem to find anything from my searches. Thank you for reading if you see this, I hope you have a great day!
Woah I remember this song makes me feel so... magical? And nostalgic. I've never played Minecraft but the way the lyrics describe the gameplay is wonderful, Laura is truly an talented artist ♡
Well well well then. A bit of nostalgia for me. Now 22 years old and these somgs stull bring a smile to my face, knowing how simple it omce was as a kid. Good times.
Actually, she was the one who originally sung it, the one who uploaded the video (I forgot the uploader) asked if they could use the song and she said they could
This somehow got in my recommended and instantly shot me back 12 years. Feels great to hear it again, it let me relive what my earlier days on the internet felt like for a bit. Thanks for creating something that influenced such a core time in my life.

An amazing song blended with a deep meaning, my favorite. The final part where Laura leaves her house while seeing the sunshine as she leaves the cave in Minecraft was such a good touch
This song is art. Its beautiful, the music is an earworm, and as a bonus its made by the same creator as the pvz music (graze the roof is amazing). Cube land deserves recognition.
Esta canción fue parte de mi infancia, recuerdo la animación de Steve con su cerdito, y esta hermosa melodía, MUCHAS GRACIAS LAURA, de verdad tu trabajo en esto es algo que debo agradecer mucho This song was part of my childhood, i remember the Steve's animation with his piglet, and this beautiful melody, THANK YOU SO MUCH LAURA, really your work in this is something that i have to thank a lot
I did not remember this song until it appeared in recommended, i decided to enter and i felt it very familiar, until suddenly I started singing it as if I had already sung it before. I guess I was very young at the time I heard it. Its a excellent song!
I remember having listened/watched the minecraft-animation with this song on constant loop on youtuberepeat like 12 or so years ago. It's a strange feeling to completely forget about the existance of a song to instantly becoming nostalgic when hearing just the first few notes of it again. To me, the way the main and background vocals at 0:42-0:51 combine always felt "strangely comforting" to me. I mean... They still do.
Thank you for making my childhood when I was in my minecraft parody songs era. About 5 years when I grew up, this song randomly came into my head and i searched for about an hour till I found this song. So nostalgic thank you.
This song is very nostalgic, I remember all the mysteries that were made and that I looked for them, that nostalgia makes me cry, You are very special :'3
Не знаю, что сподвигло вас написать эту песню, но она прекрасна и близка по духу с тем, что я чувствую сейчас, в достаточно тяжелый период своей жизни, спасибо вам за эту песню, Лаура-сан
Heard this last night live on the stream and I honestly can't stop tearing up. When I first heard this song it was just a Minecraft song by someone cool, but over the years I grew to understand the deeper meaning. Thank you, Laura. You've made the life of thousands of us a liiitle bit more tolerable. ♡
After almost twelve years I still come back. It's one of my favorite nostalgic songs and inspired my nostalgia playlist on Spotify. Thank you so much for this song.
So good. So good. Not just in terms of 'minecraft songs' but in it's own right as a great written arranged and performed piece of music. That piano. Your voice. Baaah, even after this time I keep coming back to listen to everything this song is! Wonderful and thank you so much for making it Laura
Everyone is posting their 2009-2019 photos as I am reliving nostalgia listening to your music. From ‘Zombie on your Lawn’ to ‘Don’t Forget’ you have made these years awesome. Keep making music for games and keep being awesome. Thanks, -jjefferyh
Oh shoot I can’t believe this song came out when I was 7 years old in 2011 and now 18 soon to be 19 this year 😢 bring me back to the days when life was good
I loved it, This song is a great representation of the difficulty to survive in the early days of the game, it trully was a chalenge, to thoses who never played the early fases of the game try with beta 1.7.3, some of the gameplay features are changed yet simple.
In my search for Music this year, 2024, I was losing hope until I found the name Laura Shigihara in my streaming recommendations, and there is no doubt I am in love with her work, her projects are unique, full of emotion, history and above all that reality and life that I was looking for so much. From these projects of 12 years ago to the most newest such as "when you wake up" or "Roses" we undoubtedly hope to continue enjoying you more Miss Shigihara. From some corner of the world someone normal. Thank you very much for what you have done and what you will do.
This.... This game is definitely my childhood. I just want to visit here as a thanks as a childhood minecraft player. Didn't know you even made that video until now haha. BTW Yani here and just wanna say thank you, supershigi
how not to forget these versions, when minecraft was really good, without pillagers, without ravagers, without nether biomes, no no no, just create your base and survive with your team, I have to admit that Laura not only did a good job in Plants vs Zombies, but apart from that she is very talented and it makes you nostalgic to listen to all her songs, thanks her career is very generous...
I remember watching a top 10 list of Minecraft songs of that month, and this showed up in there. I remember it being 8th place and everything after being parodies. Didn't understand why as a kid cause Cubeland is an authentic Minecraft original
Only today did I realise you sang, not one, but TWO of my 2010s classics. Cube Land and First Day from Highschool Story. I was thinking about Cube Land yesterday, then I also felt like reliving one of my preteen classics, HSS. So, once I reached level four I started listening to the song like I always would. That’s when I made the connection of how similar your voice sounded to the one in Cube Land! Then I decided to search it up, and what d’you know? They’re the same person! Love your voice, you had a big hand in creating my childhood memories. Thankyou!
This song was a all part of my childhood and i finally come here in your channel Laura Shigi to thank you so much for enlighted my childhood so much for so many years. Still, Minecraft keeps a privileged place in my heart and now you too you will have a great place in my heart, your voice is so beautiful and for Minecraft it feels so good to hear powerful voice playing clips on this game so perfect and that will never die ever. Thank you so much,Laura, for all your covers and for sharing your beautiful talent.
So many people say this but your voice is completely amazing! Like, I close my eyes and then let your lyrics play and immediately it's this cool feeling that sends tingles up your spine as you imagine every scene in your head ^^
First time I watched Cube Land's Animation, I was a young boy with 10 years I think. I was just starting in playing Minecraft. Now I am 20 years old, and this sounds like pure nostalgia. Not just the song, your video is totally Classic Minecraft. Not a superproduction, just simple clips of gameplay. Your voice is relaxing and it has soul. I can feel it. I'm younger than the first beta of minecraft but I always watched videos like Vegetta777 in Xbox360, or oxZICKxo playing with his friend David. The animation is a very classic too, Slamacow made a great work. This song is one of the most beautiful songs you made, with From the Ground Up. Even your work has inspired some details of my own Minecraft fangame, Laura. If some day I can finish it and publish it I hope it likes you xd. I met you by PVZ, but I always liked the songs you made with minecraft. Thank you for being a part of my childhood
I know You don't know Me and I don't know You either but... Thank You for Everything this Music has put a Smile in My Face during the Hard Times Thank You 💙

I'm in a cube land
I dig with cold hands
I use this tools to try and
Climb out of this mess i've made
My door is open
Skeletons and zombies
I am broken,
As they walk all over me
But if i keep on building
Walls, maybe they'll stay away
Think fast, it's got to last
If you're gonna make it through the rest of the day
I'm trapped, i can't go back,
I've made the choice to stay
And we'll fight...
Keep defending through the night
(we'll fight the good fight)
Live...
We're all driven to survive
(we'll fight the good fight)
I'll keep going
Just stay by my side
I'm in a cube land
My castle is so grand
And once i lay these tracks i'll
Finally make my escape
I am no one
I have no place, no one relates
And there is no sun
As the night covers this space
But i beg you, please, please
Don't let this life go to waste
Think fast, it's got to last
If you're gonna make it through the rest of the day
I'm trapped, i can't go back,
I've made the choice to stay
And we'll fight...
Keep defending through the night

(we'll fight the good fight)
I'll keep going

@@gatunhame u right 4 years later can confirm everything after Microsoft touched it was pure rot and decay.
Esta canción fue parte de mi infancia, recuerdo la animación de Steve con su cerdito, y esta hermosa melodía, MUCHAS GRACIAS LAURA, de verdad tu trabajo en esto es algo que debo agradecer mucho
This song was part of my childhood, i remember the Steve's animation with his piglet, and this beautiful melody, THANK YOU SO MUCH LAURA, really your work in this is something that i have to thank a lot
I did not remember this song until it appeared in recommended, i decided to enter and i felt it very familiar, until suddenly I started singing it as if I had already sung it before.
I guess I was very young at the time I heard it. Its a excellent song!
THANK YOU! for my best childhood
11 years later, and still the best minecraft song, it's in a league of it's own
This song is very nostalgic, I remember all the mysteries that were made and that I looked for them, that nostalgia makes me cry, You are very special :'3
Even more nostalgic now 😢
minecraft used to have so much lore stuff, far more than stuff like undertale etc
their used to be so many channels dedicated for this stuff, more so than all the dark souls lore stuff etc
Damn, this takes me back to 2012 and I thought that the day Minecraft the Movie came out it would be with this gem of a theme.
This is such a genuinely good song, regardless of the fact that it's a minecraft song. been over 10 years and still amazing
This is mine childhood ,back when i couldnt speak english and loved this song no matter what words meant.
thanks for made this masterpiece. it was part of my childhood. thank you so much
So much memories I wanna go back to where I was happy 😭
Heard this last night live on the stream and I honestly can't stop tearing up. When I first heard this song it was just a Minecraft song by someone cool, but over the years I grew to understand the deeper meaning. Thank you, Laura. You've made the life of thousands of us a liiitle bit more tolerable. ♡
After almost twelve years I still come back.
It's one of my favorite nostalgic songs and inspired my nostalgia playlist on Spotify. Thank you so much for this song.
Thank you for making my childhood :)
Wow still, 8 years later, I get the same chills listening... ❤️😞 the good ol’ days...
It doesn't seem like 8 years ago does it 💔
this game is already over a decade, and it still legend. THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME

@@jyeh3996 you're late
So good.
Thanks,
-jjefferyh
Just turned 21 and this never got old ❤❤
Oh shoot I can’t believe this song came out when I was 7 years old in 2011 and now 18 soon to be 19 this year 😢 bring me back to the days when life was good
I loved it, This song is a great representation of the difficulty to survive in the early days of the game, it trully was a chalenge, to thoses who never played the early fases of the game try with beta 1.7.3, some of the gameplay features are changed yet simple.
BTW Yani here and just wanna say thank you, supershigi
good old times...
It's truly a classic back then in 2013.
My brother had this downloaded on his PS3, hearing this on my own pc years later is insane to me.
how not to forget these versions, when minecraft was really good, without pillagers, without ravagers, without nether biomes, no no no, just create your base and survive with your team, I have to admit that Laura not only did a good job in Plants vs Zombies, but apart from that she is very talented and it makes you nostalgic to listen to all her songs, thanks her career is very generous...
"i dig with cold hands"
-This statement has a double effect on your feelings during the winter.
no way you made this banger too 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 laura you are the best ever, omg
I remember watching a top 10 list of Minecraft songs of that month, and this showed up in there. I remember it being 8th place and everything after being parodies. Didn't understand why as a kid cause Cubeland is an authentic Minecraft original
Laura is this all you? I mean the mixing, music, production and just everything?
Yup :)

This was her?!! Okay, you're officially my new favorite female singer!!
Thankyou!
This song is beautiful! Having kind of a hard time I need songs like this. Thank you Laura!
Returning in 2019, such an nostalgic piece, I remembered this back in the height of Minecraft's popularity in 2012
i cant believe its been over 10 years since this song released, still a vibe to this day
This song was a all part of my childhood and i finally come here in your channel Laura Shigi to thank you so much for enlighted my childhood so much for so many years.
You ma'am you right there,
You just made the core memory of our childhood , Much love for you and your job ❤️
Still a bop after all these years.
I agree
Remember when Herobrine was everywhere and the scariest thing to ever exist
its all a hoax
Memories.
So many people say this but your voice is completely amazing! Like, I close my eyes and then let your lyrics play and immediately it's this cool feeling that sends tingles up your spine as you imagine every scene in your head ^^
After these years .... still one of those Banger that when you heard it once.... you'll cry from the memories
you made me remember the old Times.
Thank You
wow this is the original video
This is my favorite Minecraft song EVER!
I was 7 when first hearing this song and now coming back 12 years later the song still hit hard my life. I love it ❤
First time I watched Cube Land's Animation, I was a young boy with 10 years I think.
Thank You for Everything this Music has put a Smile in My Face during the Hard Times
Thank You 💙
From a simpler time
I want to go back so bad 😭
Same
Congratulations on 1 million~
came back to this again... can’t believe i was 7 years old when i first heard this and it was my favorite song... i’m 16 now going to be 17 soon... thank you Laura for being a part of my childhood:)
Honestly never knew this video was the original. Always thought the animation was the original. Either way this song is amazing.
