Great stuff as always! I've done several deals with Chris (the most recent in the parking lot of a Barnes n Nobles, lol) and he has ALWAYS been transparent and fair on value and pricing. Both all around good guys and true ambassadors of the hobby.
This has been very fun to follow from the start. Congrats on the results, thanks for taking the time to share, and looking forward to Chris' "Adventures" episode. That should be epic.
Loved getting to watch this entire process. Really enjoyed hearing the GMC results. I have been thinking about using them my self, just seems to make sense when you weigh all the variables. Thanks for sharing.
Great 👍 information on a well documented collection, showing what happened in the hobby in the last month. Thanks for being detail oriented ❤👍. I am about to get a bunch of cards ready to ship a pile of raw cards to GMC myself. 🤔🤷🏼♂️😎🥵
Loved the video and have been following along on this series. I wanted to make one correction on Ebay fees where you shorted yourself in your calculations. It's minor and I understand using a rounder number for the larger example, but here is what I wanted to share. You probably already know this, but its easy to forget. For example, on a card that sells for $100 on Ebay. Let's use a 10% sales tax rate and say you charged the buyer $5 in shipping. That buyer's total cost is $115. Ebay charges 13.25% on all of that, even the sales tax they collect and pay that you never see. So their fees to the seller on that example are $15.24, assuming no ad/promotion fees were added. So their effective fee % on that $100 card is actually 15.24%. Obviously that varies per card and for sales in different states, as some charge sales tax on the total including shipping and some do not (mine does not). Calculating this way is much more cumbersome and harder to summarize in this kind of video, but ultimately, selling on Ebay would have netted you even less, so you came out even better! Hope I explained that well enough. Again, really enjoyed the breakdown and dream of finding a collection such as this! Thanks!
Absolutely brilliant breakdown, lads! Really enjoyed it, and you covered all the pros and cons very well. The most precious thing of all - and something we cannot recover - is time. To make a profit above and beyond Ebay & trade shows, whilst saving precious time, is the dream. You both achieved it. WELL DONE! I look forward to a final numbers breakdown of the overall collection on Chris' channel, which I'm sure will be equally as fantastic. I've just got one question: What are Greg Morris' payment terms? Is it 30 days until they pay you out? Or longer? That is the only draw-back (which is obviously off-set by its many advantages you mention). 👍
Chris said his time is very valuble in selling cards… I agree selling mass cards is hard… but yeah as my comment below says I sell a few cards here and there and in person at a parking lot via cragslist really is the best way for me… even some big cards in the 5 figures has happened and no fees...
I think comping vintage is next to impossible because it’s all eye appeal. Vintage collectors are smarter and buy the card, not the grade (most do). I actually think grading is irrelevant for vintage as i would have no problem buying ‘authenticated only’ cards if that became the standard in the hobby. That Moe Berg sold for more than anticipated because it a beautiful centered card. The PSA 2 (by eye appeal) is a ridiculous grade if you are going solely on eye appeal. I have some great PSA 2 vintage cards that i would never think of trading up for a higher grade.
Can you guys comment on the amount of taxes you have to pay on your sales? Do you receive a 1099 from Greg Morris, similar to what eBay does when you meet a certain threshold? A potential benefit of selling at a show is paying less in taxes?
Do you guys know the Moe Berg story? There is a great video on UA-cam about him by The Athlete Archives. If anyone is interested. I have no affiliation with that channel just thought you guys or your viewers might find it interesting.
@@BaseballCollector For raw cards I agree completely, but I don't think that is true of graded. It would be interesting to run a comparison of 10 duplicate cards a few days apart and see what happens. COMC is now a huge volume ebay seller, I'm guessing bigger than Greg Morris.
Do you think if Morris would have agreed to somehow annotate which cards were “GRAIL” you would have gotten more? I know I would have liked to bid on some of them on both of Morris’ platforms but didn’t know what the hell ones they were.
With all due respect to Jeremy and Chris' auction house, you'd have to assume to maximise eyeballs and money. A fledgling auction house isn't likely to achieve the results of an established auction house, with key hitters on their 'rolodex'.
I have watched the videos on what you and partners call the Grail Collection. I don’t understand that you and partners can say that. If it was a grail collection it would include the grail 1953 Topps Mantle after all that’s a the grail card for every collectors past, present and future. It should be called the Grail Collection minus the real grail card the 1952 Topps Mantle. You’re misleading your subscribers. Incidentally I didn’t see a Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Shoeless Joe Jackson or Babe Ruth RC cards. It kills me when people same something like you and your partners are calling a Grail Collection and it’s not. It’s a grail collection to you all so you can get the most money out of you can. There’s a sucker born every day and they will buy into this horse sh*t.
Obviously you didn't watch all of the videos about this collection. There were Cobb, Cy Young, and Walter Johnson cards. There were 6 Babe Ruth cards. Multiple Lou Gehrig cards including one that was my grail card. Grail Collection simply refers to the fact that this collection contained a ton of cards that many collectors might consider grails for their collection.
I LOVE this story line! A couple of my favorite UA-camrs teaming up. Couldn’t be better!
Glad you enjoy it!
These grail collection updates are so cool! Really enjoyed this numbers breakdown! Glad it was a great experience for the both of you!
Thanks. We really had a great time "working" together.

GregMorrisCards is awesome, I've sent 3 consignments in the past and have another 1,000+ cards to send next week!
Great Consignment!!
Thanks Brian. We obviously agree.

Fantastic analysis. Really insightful outcomes. Would be great to see more of these kinds of tracking analyses.
Thanks. We would love to have more collections like this to track.
I enjoyed looking at all the numbers behind this, definitely a transparent look behind the curtain!

Greg Morris is an outstanding raw card seller..fair and consistent evals.
Totally agree Randy.

Great point.
Wow on the 33 Berg. I bought a 1.5 for $325 at the Philly show last March. You guys did really well.
Very interesting video. Thanks for the breakdown
You are Very welcome.
Great info I enjoyed it.
Thanks Michael.
This has been a great journey gents. Glad I’ve been watching since you all were live having drinks till today 😅😅😅
Thanks for following along.
Grats fellas definitely a epic journey on this collection
Thanks Adam. It has been a blast.
A lot of the higher than expected sales were high eye appeal, which is great to see!
For sure Theo.
Congrats, guys!
Thanks Dave.
Once time is factored in, it’s a no brainer.
Agreed.
Great video, guys
Thanks Mike.

It certainly was for us in this case.

Did you know that NASDAQ is the 220 largest company on the S and P 500?
Congrats to all.
Comps ar different depending on style also. Auction vs buy it now can make a big difference in value
Great stuff, the hobby is strong,
@@ACollectorsDream It certainly is Orlando.
Awesome video
Thanks!
Nice review!
Great video! Were there other consign options besides Greg Morris? Do they generally get most eyes / higher values?
There are plenty of others. Chris and I just like Greg Morris.
The one and only graded card I’ve purchased from GMC was $95. Sorry to the consigner, but I like the Spahn.
Shit! I forgot one. I would love to get my hands on that spreadsheet, just sayin’! 😂
Press CTRL key and use the mouse scroll to zoom in or out of the excel sheet
It wasn't excel. It was a google sheet.

We discuss this some in this video.
Doesn’t Greg Morris still require a minimum co-sign value of $5K to submit to them?
Yes, they only accept orders with a minimum value of $5K.
Well done
It seems like Greg morris does better the older the card, is that true? I have rons of old raw cards I may send to them now. Thanks.

What are the odds you find something even close to this again? I am thinking fairly low.
Highly unlikely Otto.
Did you consider 4 Sharp Corners as your seller?
I did. They are good too
Did you guys consider COMC for some of the cards?
@@blueodum No. they take way too long
@@BaseballCollector I'm pretty sure that Elite is quick, and you can put it to auction a few days after.
