24:05 - Matt’s Fox prediction
Love the way Sacramento has Sabonis back, would be nice if someone spoke on his behalf, no wonder stars leave, Charlotte, Atlanta, Phoenix, Philly, all over national media about there players not making all-stars, you people in the local media have the power to raise heck with the national
media, very disappointing.
Fox don’t give up on your dream the fans of Sacramento Love you!
Ooh wee! He was speakin' nothin' but facts! 📠🔥
Young Matthew ate his Wheaties😂
Wow! Matt George. Tell us how you really feel lol. Seriously though, I agree with everything you said. Unless Monty pulls a rabbit out of his hat, then he should be let go. Dude needs to make some decisions. He can’t keep just running in place hoping the problems solve themselves.
Even with the Fox trade being a priority, I hope that this front office still plans to make an additional deal to address the deficiencies and balance this roster. It is possible the players we get back in the Fox deal may not fill all those needs. 4 scenarios that occur by Feb 6. 1. Fox is not traded and they make only a marginal move (that sucks). 2. Fox is traded and additional deal fills in the deficiencies (best case) 3. Fox is traded and the Kings receive young talent that slightly move the needle (mediocre). 4. Nothing is done at all. (would not surprise me!)
KC nailed it with the Disrespect we get as Kings fans!
🔥 Matt cooking! Perfectly said
Castle has played the shooting guard all year and all of last year in college. Castle can play the 3 in smaller lineups because he's 6'6 and bigger than half the guys on the team. If Sac insists on Castle, if I'm San Antonio, you punt. Atlanta won the lottery last year with a near playoff team; if that pick lands top 6, 7, 8, and VJ Edgecombe or Egor Demin are available, to go along with SA's own lottery pick, you better believe the Spurs fanbase will be just fine missing out on De'Aaron trade.
This dude is so fuckin funny. Has absolutely no clue what he's talking about but acts like he's an authority on something. Sitting here giggling at the epic levels of cringe.
When was the last time that Matt George was right about something
Hey he gets a lot of things right and is a damn good reporter
I understand Matt George for not trusting the front office with the way they handle the Mike Brown situation. But it proved they were right for doing so. Monte McNair is proving that he is a good general manager. He knows how to draft players he knows how to sign free agents. And the roster construction he did is good. Yes we still need length on the power forward postion and center postion. But thats something he is working on. He just hasn't found his flavor on that end. I think he is trying make moves. Just wait and see. I trust Monte McNair.
The Kings will never change if they don't get rid of Fox. It all comes down to the money. Fox takes up too much of the salary cap period.
I don’t think the front office is really a problem, I think Monte has actually been doing a pretty good job generally speaking. Getting the team from consistently below .500 to multiple years of being above .500 while not being asset dead and having a decent roster that is also in a position where they actually can improve the roster further. Even if they trade Fox (which seems probable), it opens up more cap flexibility since Fox will be getting a max and they get even more assets to maneuver with to maybe build a more well rounded roster around Sabonis, Monk, and Derozan.
The front office absolutely deserves both credit and blame. Monte and Wes absolutely have been a blessing. Making right moves, good draft picks and so on. BUT they do deserve blame for not doing anything to address our glaring issues. We've drafted 4 guards, haven't addressed our bench, forward or back up center issues. We've had these issues for 2 plus years and nothing has happened. So yes they deserve blame for where we are at. I get trading Fox to give us flexibility with money, but Monte hasn't done anything with our flexibility so far.
NOPE!
@@fongbrandonin regards to drafting I think it might also be a difference in philosophy. For example, should a team draft based on positional need when that player might’ve gone 3 or 4 picks lower? Or should they just draft the best player available who has a better chance of having a better career? Like realistically is it worth drafting a rookie who fits your positional needs but probably won’t be good enough to contribute in his first year anyways when you can just draft a better player in general who has more potential? About them not fixing the issues with the roster I agree with you to an extent, I don’t know what deals they had on the table to fix some of the issues, but I would rather them be patient and not make a panic move that destroys their future just so they can be a top 6 team for 2 or 3 years. I would prefer if they make good deals that allow them to have sustained success for a longer period of time before they need to go back into a rebuild. And in regards to the Fox trade, I don’t think it will hurt their win total as much as some people think because they also have Monk who basically has close to the same shot diet and is pretty much just as capable of a tough shot maker but just has worse defense. They’ll probably get some competent player(s) in return for Fox plus draft capital which they can use to fix any roster issues they have now, or in the future.
You’re trippin
We need to do what we have to do to get Kel’el Ware in a Kings jersey. Perfect fit next to Sabonis.
We could’ve just drafted the guy in the lottery with our pick this year but didn’t. Love Carter still but Ware looks good
@ trust me I know. I was big on kel’el ware and kyle filipowski this draft. Ware surpassed what I thought he would be and Filipowski underperformed.
This why o can’t take Matt george serious he points out they 1-3 in the last 4 ya you played Denver on a back to
Back and the knicks. Not a favorite in either. Beat the nets then lose to Philly amidst alllll this drama . Come on dude they are 11-4 in the last 15 get a clue.
John collins has a monte mcnair guy written all over it…. Especially with his hands on them james harden rockets teams lol
The fact you draft a 6'2 guard im carter knowing damn well we need wings sum up the stupidity of the front office
John collins is shooting 44% from three this year and would be great to pair with sabonis. The front office is fucking stupid.
I know I’m in the minority but I believe trading Fox is addition by subtraction. It allows everyone else to get more shots and develop. Not to mention what we’d get in return. I absolutely do not think our franchise will sink without Fox. He’s been with us his whole career and hasn’t lifted us past the first round. I love Fox. He’ll always be a Sac legend but it’s time for all parties to move on.
I think they could get better from trading him as well, I think they kind of have too many overlapping skill sets on the team, with him and Malik basically taking the same exact shots and Malik being just as efficient while also being a better playmaker. Derozan being a high volume mid range shooter + Malik and Fox also being relatively high volume mid range shooters. If they get a guy who defends well and is a better 3pt shooter than Fox, I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think they can improve. They would also get future draft picks on top of that.
@ you get it
Swapping out your front office again just prolongs the King’s reputation as a unstable hellhole of dysfunction. The fact is, De’Aaron Fox is not good enough to be a #1 on a contender; no moves around the edges over the past 2 years would have changed that fact. But he could be an awesome #2. If Fox truly values competing for titles more than being “the man,” then this outcome-De’Aaron asking out with 1.5 years left on his rookie max extension-was inevitable the second Vlade Divac passed on Luka to pick Marvin Bagley II. Everything the current front office has done since then has been about recovering from the last regime’s blown opportunity; they’ve made mistakes, but have generally been a decent, replacement-level small-market management team.
And they’ve learned lessons along the way. Give them a shot to *finally* rebuild from scratch. If nothing else, they acquired pieces like Sabonis and Monk who can be traded along with Fox for serious value to interested teams all around the league. In the new NBA, team-building requires starting not just with all your own picks, but a massive surplus of draft capital, which a full tear-down can provide. Boston, OKC, Houston were all rebuilt that way. Now, San Antonio, Utah, and Brooklyn are following in their asset-hoarding footsteps. Sacramento should do that now, while your current roster is still so valuable (to other teams).
I would actually quietly negotiate a gigantic Sabonis trade *before* dealing Fox…Kings have the leverage of stealth to maximize the returns. (See the Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert trades.) I’m sure Monte McNair-who, recall, won Executive of the Year the season Brown was COTY-understands this fully. The only question is whether ownership gives him the leeway to start over right. If not-if Vivek insists on chasing the 10th seed-then bringing in a new GM won’t make any difference.
Same old Sacramento Kings 🫤
This is all facts 👏🏾
Mike brown was trash but i agree with him on collins. Now BI he trippin. Monte has done good things his blemishes are not making a move for length last yr and this yr. Monte bringing doug in was a perfect hire now go get doug some help and watch him work
Front Office ruined everything
relax bro this deal aint that hard, castle keldon 2 hawks picks. dont need a new front office to figure that out
Air horns indeed
Matt with the 🤡 takes again. Mike Brown is not a good coach. There is a reason he has failed as head coach everywhere he has been, including here. He will never be a head coach in this league again. He gets too much credit for the team making the playoffs and none of the blame for blowing the 2-0 lead and losing the series while having the better team. The west was wide open that year and if they would have won the warriors series, they had a good chance of beating the lakers and making the WCF. It’s not like he came in and took the same losing team from the previous years and made the playoffs. He came in inheriting the best Kings roster since the greatest show on court days. Even then he tried to sabotage it by starting Okapala, just because he coached him on the Nigerian national team. Instead of the player they just drafted with the 5th pick. Refused to even try to starting Monk. Then last season they missed the playoffs because he is too stubborn and incapable of making adjustments. Losing to the same team 6x in one season is inexcusable. Doug Christie will prove to be a better coach and I hope he gets a real shot at keeping the job.
He wants to go to San Antonio cause his wife wants to go to San Antonio tell it like it really is
Well he was a Texas superhero growing up. They have fam, it’s a stable franchise, the money is the only thing keeping him here. Don’t get me wrong that’s a hell of a reason
having a 21 yr old 7'5 guy whos the next face of the league might be a reason as well
They both have family and friends in Texas and its understandable
@@ok-dr1hp nah he doesn’t care about winning and if the spurs get it they will find that out soon. Literally going there cause his girl
@@ok-dr1hp signs w spurs- 229M
Signs w kings and makes all NBA 345M
It’s all about the money my guy
How do I apply for the GM position? I’m goin in yall. I’ll make it a fanbase GM thing. We’ll have polls and go off of what we hear from the city. Cause it seems like every GM we’ve ever had is outsmarted by the fan base
Until Vivek gets up your ass, and this will probably happen at the first second you step into your new office. Lol.
Great take Matt! Monte really sucks! Maybe Vivek likes Monte because he save money from Monte. Cheap!
