The $160 home gym had a certain charm to it, and although the weight and equipment was limited, you definitely had enough to get something going on. Also, I liked the Christmas Tree storage in there, too.

Agreed, imo building even a basic gym for a single person requires atleast 300sqft of space, and in any city such a space would cost alot, just investing the same amount of money in stock market would generate much more each year than gym membership costs

100% I think if price wasn't an issue, but space was, I'd want one of those smith/cable/racks in one (€3k+) and (adjustable) dumbbells. But in order to give up my gym membership I'd probably want a treadmill, I hate dressing for the climate, be it sunburn-risk or icey roads, and I'd like a deadlifting platform (also for hip thrust just in case) or a very reliable floor. And then it's easy to fall down the rabbit hole of what else would I want.

with 24k, i'd get a squat rack, 45lb olympic bar, 6x 20kg plates, 2x 15 kg plates, 2x 10 kg plates, 2x 5 kg plates, 2x 1 kg plates, a decently wide bench, dumbells from 2.5kg to 50 kg, a good quality captain's hook (for pullups and dips). A cable machine up to 150 kg. Maybe a leg press too.

I have that exact same pullup/dip bar from the first gym, and I said basically the same thing when I first tried it out. I got it for free though, so I guess I can't complain. But the only way to get it to be functional is either strapping it down or having somebody else stand on the other side of it to make it shake less lol

i feel like cable machines are amazing for home gyms, it’s extremely versatile and you don’t need a lot of space to store plates. Even if you plan on adding a squat rack or bench and need to get plates in the future anyways, you can use the cable machine for *almost* any dumbbell exercise so it still keeps its usefulness

The first thing for my home gym? Definitely a power rack with platform and overhead straight bar, and an adjustable bench. Those are usually no more than $3k. Next thing is Olympic bar and bumper plates, a set of 260lb is within $1k. A $5k budget for a home gym is more than enough. With $24k, you can buy a full rack of dumbbells from 5lb to 110lb, a treadmill, an assault bike, and maybe a few machines on top of all these.

I have my own home gym. In my opinion, if you want to have your own home gym, the things you really need are:
    • Dumbbells
    • Bench (Adjustable)
    • Rack (either Half or Full, your preference; including pullup bar and pulley)
    • Barbell
    • Curlbar
    • Plates
    • Weighted Vest
That's really all you need for the rest of your life. Personally, I also got a leg extension because I just love that shit. I went with hex dumbbells because I prefer to just have them smaller and resistant to being dropped, as well as not having to change the weight on them manually.

If I had $24,000 to spend on a home gym I'd spend about $2,000 on gym equipment and put the rest in the bank. I actually have my own gym at home and I got pretty much every piece of equipment from eBay. Gym equipment is pretty much the ideal thing to get fantastic bargains with because it's generally heavy so only local buyers and there's not much competition for it. My favourite bargains were a brand new Technogym Group Cycle (spin bike) for £350 which are about £2,200 new and my treadmill which was about £70. I've got two of those bikes, a Concept2 Erg, multigym, cross trainer and a small amount of free weights. Total cost about £1,500 (a bit less than 2,000 USD).

I never expected to hear the foreboding theme from Little Nightmares (an indie horror game) in a Will Tennyson video, but there it was at 8:50. It plays in the game when you see the Maw (a metal megastructure house/nursery/restaurant at sea), and its seemingly infinite depth, so the music fits oddly really well for a huge mansion. For it to fit so well, I'm inclined to believe Will or his editor has played Little Nightmares.
Am I overanalyzing? Yes. I played the game about four to five times and I'm obsessed. I highly recommend it.

Holy shit a powertec, got one of these things for $300 CAD a couple years ago. Absolutely my favorite piece of gym equipment I've used in or out of the gym. The squat and pressing movements on it can get insane depth and are about the only things that never cause me any sort of knee or shoulder discomfort no matter how heavy I go. For the record I regularly load 4 plates a side on the squat and absolutely still feel it, you can go heavy as you want on this thing.
You're sitting on the lat pulldown backwards btw. It's an extremely good feeling pendulum system, your arc here is backwards which will cause your chest to cave and an awful lat workout. The only thing that really sucks on this is the ab crunch is completely useless, and leg extensions you need a pad behind your back for ROM and you can only really go heavy enough for a warmup if you're strong.

hey will, you might want to try the dougdoug drivethrough challenge (for the content, yknow). If you havent heard of it, its basically drive through roulette where you eat as many fast food meals ordering the same thing as the person in front of you, so you have the chance of getting a single crunchwrap or a party box with 5 cokes at a taco bell for instance. The current record is at around 14 orders shared by 3 people during the span of one day. If you do so, good luck!
