Wow! Those Lister Jag replicas sure bring back some memories! My Dad used to race SCCA in central California back in the 60's. I grew up "in the pits" and got to drool at the sight of cars like these. Everything from hand-built "specials" to "Bird-cage" Maseratis could be seen at those races. We got to see the birth of the original AC Cobras. Watched many AC Bristols (before they became Cobras) race against Porsche 904s. Formula Juniors (Dad's last sports car) were just starting to hit the grid.
Though I would love to drive such a ride, I don't think I would go with a modern V8 powerplant. Somehow, I think that a real Jag Twin Overhead Cam inline 6 would do just fine. Granted...Dad raced a `54 Jag 120 Coupe (Fire Engine Red) that had an Oldsmobile Rocket 88 303 inch V8 in it that was good for about a buck sixty on a long straight (which was, for a time, our "daily driver".). Oh...the stories I could tell...and my parents have photo albums of....
Dennis...we should talk.... And ya gotta see the car show in Roseburg, Oregon in July
If you wanted to go with an inline six there are a couple of other options. The 2JZ or the RB-26 go without saying. Two more would be the GM 4200 Atlas or a Ford Barra from Oz. Barras are starting to show up in the states. Heck I even saw a last generation Holden Ute a couple of months ago.

As would a BMW. But I have to admit. The Jag XK. Thats pure automotive sculpture.
Growing up in S.L.O. Cal, they had thriving Rambler agency back then, Barnet Rambler. In High School, a teacher drove one of those Rambler Americans, as one of those "Babe" teachers, she also drove a Mazda RX-7, and swapped cars by how she felt that day. I had all good teachers at MCP.
I am so addicted to the shows it seems to be the favorite part of my day when I watch one thank you Dennis Gage hope to see you at the car show soon
The steering wheel on the rambler is upside down i love these events from small-town america.lots of imagination, craftsmanship & an all around family event.
10:18 Back in '76 when I was a sophomore in high school one of the senior girls got a white '65 GP in mint condition and used to pick me up at my bus stop and drive me to school all the time. I loved that car so much I offered to polish it for her several times for which she treated me to a nice picnic in the park... To this day I still don't know if I had a bigger crush on her or the car but it was all good.
Love this guy❤
Love that Grand Prix! Maybe not that color lol needs W/W tires But Man What a BEAUTY from the Pontiac Division. This is when the Rivera, Grand Prix, soon to be Toronado, Fords T-Bird all had such class, and so much style and all so different from one another. Beautiful.
Hello from Bohemia, you have very nice cars ;) Nice videos, thanks.
Thanks Dennis :)
Thanks for the upload! Keep them coming!!!!
Awesome,,,Just back from Kelmarsh Hall,England 70th birthday party of The Morris Minor,,,went in a friend's 53 MM pickup with 1275GT engine,,,few American folk made the visit too,,a great weekend,,,Thanx for a great vid,,,
MCC upload perfect way to wake up on a Sunday!
Isn't there just something about it? Drinking a fresh cup a Joe and watching Dennis on a (for me anyways) Saturday morning. It's just a fresh way to start my weekend. It's the whole aura.
Fun fact about the Rambler. There is a storage compartment under the rear seat that can comfortably store a case of beer.
My jaw dropped when he said " 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds"
Awesome.
I truly think this is one of the best episodes I've ever seen, not necessarily because of the cars though lol CARS..CARS...CARS HEHEHE
QUE CHULADA... JOYAS MOTORIZADAS!!!
Nice town I would like to live there.
But I live on the other side of the world
Amd. NL.
show saudaçoes from Brazil ......
As much as I like that Poncho I'm not sure I could live with that color day in day out. You either love it or hate it. It really is hard to believe that they built the 2CV up until the 90s. But it is the French equivalent of a Ute. Those Liester repos. Wheres my drool emoji. The Ramblers. Twenty years ago I'm not sure you would see one let alone two at the same show. Theres a guy in SoCal that gas either a shoebox 61 or maybe the Kleenex box style with a 2JZ swapped in with three dueces. Both body styles usually escape the engine swappers because there is too much surgery involved. But these 60s Ramblers are getting more attention now from hot rodders simply because a lot of the other old iron is already snapped up.
Nice
Superbe c est le rêve ❤❤❤👍👍👍🙋♀️🙋♀️
Why is there only one radiator hose on the 41 ford ? turbo hamster....😆....killer vid ...thanks
Because the other one blew off on his way to the show. He had to replace it before he was able to drive home.
5:44 I wonder why it’s missing the driver side coolant pipe/hose from the block to the radiator? Maybe it’s a work in progress?
Good eye. Apparently it had blown off on the drive to the show and he was going to have to address that before the drive home or have it trailered.
I also had a 63 Rambler American - same color combination but not a 440. One reason you don't see many around is . . . RUST. At 50K the car was literally dissolving from the inside out - fenders and sills. My body shop told me they had to stop grinding for good metal because there wouldn't be anything left.
Even though the bodies in white (bare metal) went through a full dip undercoating there were still spots in the body where road grime and other crap could collect. Anywhere in the country that saw salt used in the winter rust would get any any car. The only thing you could do was constant washes. And not many carwashes had underbody washes either.
I love last car! More power than Bugatti!
That 41 Ford.
That 41 ford had no top radiator hose on the left bank.
A friend had an old Rambler when he was in high school and the letters R and M were both loose. So, he switched them around so it read MARBLER... I dunno, I just thought it was kind of a funny story...
There's no way that 41 ford was built on Dec 10, 1941...and after 22 seasons of this show I'm surprised at what Dennis doesn't know about cars....
utjp7077 actually yes there is a way the production of some of the Fords continued for the war effort and if the order it already been placed several were filled he may just have a truly Rare Bird there
I havent seen a 2cv like that before, is that the american version with the older style? All the 2cvs here look older than the time they are from, but not as old looking as that
Steve Cripps The back is obvious that its a custom, but the front looks believable, its like they chopped the front off of a Citroën Traction avant. My newly moved in neighbour owns a rare Citroën 2cv Special Dolly 2+2, very rare car, its painted "strawberry and cream" and it has fantastic tiny white wall wheels, its from 1988; me and my friends love it
The front bumper, grill, hood, and fenders are fiberglass as is the back portion of the car.
Steve Cripps The lads that made it had a great idea, I always wished Citroën had made something more like the original 2cv concept, from the late 30s, maybe a more expensive, luxury 2cv.
"Hi, I'm Dennis Gage and welcome to "Other Peoples" Classic cars..."
Did I just see a Volkswagen t3 camper? Thats a shitey cheap car that you can get for a couple thousand, the guy that brought it is a chancer
Those Listers are absolutely wonderful! What a craftsman. Thanks Dennis.
