I just recently came across the go90 app and they have all 5 seasons of b5, at least here in the US, and it is completely free with little ads almost none really. I have been watching it on my galaxy note 4 and it looks fine.
I like Bruce Boxleitner and I understand his disappointment but not his anger at the ending of the series. It was a fantastic show and I'm glad he was a part of it! But in the very beginning they said it was a series with an overall story Arc that would be resolved in a limited number of seasons rather than being episodic which was unusual at the time and when that story was told, the show was over and it essentially was over in Four Seasons with the fifth season just being kind of a bonus because of the success of the previous four. (And frankly I think they dragged the ending of that Arc out a bit as it was. I *love* the show but you could tell there started to be filler episodes to delay the end.) At some point you have to let a show end much like BSG; once it reached its conclusion how could you have any more seasons that could rival that subject matter? Once the main story was told there really wasn't much else to do; the story was too big to be followed up with a different Arc; anything else would have seemed trivial compared to the subjects they tackled in the main run of the show. I did enjoy the movies they made that fleshed out some more the story much like they did with BSG. They tried of course the new series Crusade, but again, after tackling the heavy subject matter of B5 it came across as a bit weak .
I do think he had a good plan and had dropped enough hints and story points to jump into the Drak war and Telepath war with season 5.. if it hadn't been a quick rush of many ideas and stories as the final death throw i could've seen a slower paced season like the first where the characters recover from the war and do episodes that would've planted the seeds for those two events slowly. But the main plot points in season 1-4 were finished and covered pretty well, Lando's fate was the big draw (and sherridans) but they covered them well enough if Susan had stayed on, and commanded the Excalibur, maybe that could've done better than it did, i liked many of the characters but i felt the captain lacked something Susan might have brought, though the thief character would need a little reworking i think or she'd get along with Susan a little too well. But i think crusades major failing was its characters, besides the two main characters the captain and techno mage (and i guess the telepath LT) none of the other characters really felt like they had the same depth that babylon 5 characters had, but those characters got 5 seasons to change within.. (well 4) Back to my telepath war/Drak war point/idea though. I think they could've ran another 2-3 solid seasons with the first being recovery from the previous wars and the start of the Drak war they could've kept the telepath based episodes and all the lone episodes that were really great and hint more with the telepath war before starting it after the Drak attack gets resolved in season 2 maybe start of 3, then finishing off the telepath war with the end of the series or a movie. I think that would've worked pretty well with 3 seasons and two plot lines since most of the characters were already introduced. But those are just the rambles of a super fan. lol
Such a shame so many talented actors from the original cast are dead now... I hate to say it but I think they need to relaunch B5 to keep it alive They'd need to include Bruce in some way though
Garibaldi was super cool... Doyle didn't have a particularly wide developed acting range but damn, he did really nail Garibaldi I hear he was difficult at times but overall a super-cool guy at the end of the day
I do have some trouble hearing the questions asked, and the captions seem to skip some of the words combined with its poor understanding of english, sometimes i wonder if closed captions watches these videos from under water. I don't think a reboot would be a great idea it was a wonderful series and i'd love to see it on netflix it wouldn't be able to be re-shot for bluray but that is fine. I asked J.S on twitter what would be required in making more or even a reboot with crowd funding and he basically said crowd funding has never raised enough money to even rent the studio let alone all the other costs and he doesn't see it as plausible unless a network steps in, and i don't think unless B5 gets onto Netflix any studio would.
Babylon 5 - my all time favourite TV show. Brilliant story, effects (for the time), cast and music.
