The average D1 College athlete in the US gets paid approximately $0.00 because of collegiate athletic rules; their scholarships are purely based under the assumption that they will attend and perform to an expected level of competency in their academic courses. Meanwhile, MANY Academic scholarships are awarded to high school students across the country which routinely pay for their entire top-level education in full and many of those students go on to become far more successful by comparison than even some of the top-recruited college athletes. Perhaps you should consider doing some research before ironically criticizing "dumb Americans" when you yourself are just stating what you think to be fact based on common stereotypes.
