WOO! i love this! it's very hard to change the instrumental style of a song completely and you've perfected this to the best ability it's possible! this is BEAUTIFUL and sounds fantastic for the portals style, fitting in with the evil/void rock beat style with the drums! i think thaat this is SO underrated and i think that u should make more of thesee! people who are talking about the tempo and not being 'rocky' enough clearly don't know how to produce music! if the rock was too overboard, it would contradict the BPM of the song and pace (tempo), and i don't think that the tempo is off in this at all! before making a negative comment, consider that all styles and opinions are different (especially in terms of music), and constructive criticism on what worked and what didn't is more mature and responsible than making a comment without rhyme or reason

Saw a comment saying this song wasn’t a good bridge to her newer music. But I think it goes to show Melanie isn’t a “baby sounds” and “rad drums” artist. She’s very experimental with sound and directs a lot of the production on music she puts out. Portals was supposed to be out in 2022 but she started drawing the character and had to deal with the leaks. But what does this have to do with Test Me? Test Me reflects how Melanie feels she is being called to a series of events designed to challenge her as a person while being set up by beings who are higher than us that witness and guide us through our struggles.

She clearly feels like she has more to do, and that she isn’t the same person she used to be. Hence why portals is about death, transformation, and rebirth. Why crybaby is dead and Melanie wants to create a new muse that fits her current state of artistic mind. It’s kinda how it goes. However I hope crybaby won’t be completely left to the cosmos and she brings her back from time to time.
Also test me sounded like how Afterschool sounds. Not how crybaby sounds. Sure the vibes and chords you hear may be familiar. But Test Me is a great bridge to the PORTALS era.
