Hey Mike, great video, I've had exactly the same issue with the screenshot function, however one trick I've found is that you can sort of roll your thumb and it still works, so get your thumb tip on Volume Down, press it then quickly roll your thumb so that you press the Power Button in the same action with a lower part of your thumb. Works great for me!
I've sat here for nearly an hour over my lunch breaks watching various review videos. I found this gave me some new features and a fairly comprehensive takeaway in under 15 minutes. Thanks!
So true about the awkwardness of taking the screen shot. It has been tricky and I sometime end up activating the volume rocker too. Thanks for some pointers on features and covering not so obvious ones as well.
I will probably choose Galaxy S20+, because i was seeing in other reviews that Galaxy S20 Ultra is having trouble focusing photos, however in the future Samsung may release an update.

Get Goodlock from Samsung app store it can customize lots of things and has stuff for edge sensitivity too. You can set up multiwindow create your own wallpaper and navigationbar
Still, there's an issue with the attitude Samsung takes towards this app. As it's so amazing, I literally can't figure out why Samsung don't integrate it with ONE UI directly, or at least introduce new users to it. It's highly compatible with the system, literally like the shortcut for iOS (though here that's the Bixby Routine, definitely check it out if you haven't), anyone missing it would downgrade the software experience for an entire level. Till this day, I feel like Samsung is still for those who can really dig deep and explore their phone, not as out-of-the-box-level handy as iPhone, and maybe that's why S and Note still can't outsell iPhones globally
I came from iphone XR I got the s20 plus yesterday and I gotta say I'm impressed its a really nice phone. I'm still learning how to use it but I'm definitely happy with the change
I love this phone and just ordered one!!! Also I didn't know about taking a screenshot while swiping your hand across the screen :/ who knows what else I dont know haha
You can literally swipe down from anywhere on the screen to open up the notifications. It's completely built into the phone's software. Small hands or not!!! This guy!!!
Its been 5 months have you ever experienced over heating, green hues in the screen, and how long is the battery life? Im planning on buying the US snapdragon version or the red magic 5s and i cant seem to pick either and i was just wondering if there are still problems with this model.
@@gandacious21 so look it usually doesent overheat in normal tasks, but it does demanding in games especially if you play for a long period, the battery life on 60 hz is about 6-7 hours, and 4-6 hours on 120hz, and the screen is perfectly fine, if you can get the snapdragon version, go for it, its a great phone
I hope this helps. I have s20+. It retains the quality of the videos and pictures in Instagram stories. I dont know about Snapchat because I dont use that
A good reliable screen protector that Ive been using on my S devices for years is the Armor Suit. Look it up on Amazon, they are easy to install without imperfections, they last for years, they absorb much impact and do not shatter without distorting screen quality
i bought this on launch day and it was nice that they included a free wireless charger and 128gb sd card, my only issue was the camera focus but they released an update and it was much better.
this video was the most detailed one I've seen. thank you so much!! i love all the "super small" things you commented on because even though it seems small, it can make a difference for long term use!
Note 10 + beat it in a 20 category camera/video test. Maybe an update will improve the S20. Also prices are dropping fast. Don't pay retail prices. Ive already seen them for under $800 on Ebay.
I bought the s20+ and I'm returning it. The battery is soooo bad, I'm getting 3h 40 min of screen on time(100-0%). Even on a day with only 2h SOT it is dead by 21:00... Samsung's response was that everything about my phone was normal. The exynos version is just way worse. I'll really be missing this awsome screen, but it isn't worth buying the exynos version of this phone. (It also runs super hot, alwasy... spotify over bluetooth? you'll have a sweaty spot in your pants.)
maybe u got the bad one, my s20+ w exynos sot for 120hz screen time 6-7hours, always youtube and gaming , feel sorry w ur s20+ thou. , i used mine around 2 weeks.
Great review man! Thanks for sharing your experience with the phone. So apparently with the 120hz turned on and about 3.5 - 4.5 hours of screen on time can only get me through a day before I need to charge again. So I assume you have other settings turned off that I have on on my phone. Anyhow, it's just cool to know the comparison and different experience people have with the phone. I havent get my hands around the camera perks tho, looking forward to check em out soon!
Great vid! Nice to have a more practical take on what actually using the phone will be like. Thanks for the workarounds also. Could see those coming in handy.
Yes, this video: ua-cam.com/video/m3j_ioASvUk/v-deo.html goes into more detail (Ultra based) about how Samsung gets all these features on the"cheap", lots of cropping to get the results and highlights that much of the over-hyped camera features are maybe not as glorious as affiliated Samsung influencers will market. There are no bad phones likely in 2020, the s20 is the first major release so Samsung fans and reviewers get a bit over-excited, much that is on the S20's will be on other upcoming phones, and they will be done more optimised, better and cheaper. So, the s20 is not bad, but I suspect in the context of the end of year reviews it will struggle to be in the Top 10, and in the days of Coronavirus and a World recession its pricing is bordering outrageous and really a phone for the Samsung fanbase.

Very handy tip re the "One Hand Operation+" app from Samsung. I was finding taking Screenshots a real hassle with both needed keys being on the same side now. A new (and stiff-ish) case was not helping the simultaneous key presses needed 🙄. At least the app gives me another option. Thanks!
I love the buttons on the right side and I'm right handed cuz it's easier to turn the volume up and down when you're using the phone love it and I've always use Palm swipe anyway 4 screenshots people are making big deals out of nothing this phone is awesome I recommend it to anyone it's way better than the S10 Plus and I have the 20 Ultra

I've had my S20 Ultra 5G for a little over two weeks, and I love it. I had the Note 10+, and broke it. ATT insurance sent me a check that paid off the broken Note, and half the cost of my 20 Ultra. I used some of that settlement to buy a good case, just like you said Mike O'Brien! Hate those little slivers of glass everywhere! Thanks for sharing your insight.
I can not wait to start my new job after this lockdown, I got laid off in January cuz the business owners of other company’s stopped buying machines from us, but I really want to buy this phone so I could use it as a business phone when I start up a business this summer
Im considering this phone to buy in the near future. Thanks for this review, the features are cool. Just want to confirm, the screen capture during video. Is it only allowed when taking 8k video? Or any video format allows to screen capture?
Hi!I hope this helps. From what I've read and seen after researching this phone was it does take normal videos, unless you choose otherwise. However, the file size for 8k videos are pretty big. I apologize if this is misinformation but I really hope this is of some assistance to you. Have a great day.....or night.... 😊
Thanks for your video! The last screen cover from my last phone S7, was a dirt magnet on edges. I've ordered a wallet style case to protect the screen of my S20+. Would you recommend a cover for the cameras? I've seen them sold in 4 packs. Or is it just another dirt magnet? Monica
I just got it, because 1) the price was less than the note 10+ even with the discount 2) i get another phone, a tablet, and a memory card to go with my purchase of s20+ So far im ok with it, im still getting used to the full screen experience, and the many functions. But im pretty satisfied so far. Also i mostly use my phone to read, do work, video call, games, and yea, pretty much it. Used to have a galaxy note edge to draw when im bored, but it can be compensated with papers or my ipad. So i went with pics, and i remember 20+ was on par with my score for note 10+, so i went with it. The only thing im concerned is the heat while charging. I might have to ask about it tomorrow.
I really want to buy the S20 but I'm reconsidering it because I can't get the Snapdragon version in Europe and I've heard the battery life is pretty shit
This is great, as I have found out that a lot of the cool features you mention are also in my S7 and I did not even know. Still love the heaps of new stuff you showed for the S20. Did not know about the Dex. Big plus for me and I might end up getting an S20
I have the S20 and am very happy with it. I have noticed one real mistake so far: When I take a photo in 4:3 64MP mode, the S20 sometimes gives me pixel mud. Samsung still has to improve the software.
Very cool tips and review! I just got my S20 this weekend, and one thing bothering me is that I can't seem to find the led notification light... just the edge lighting that comes up when you get the notification... I see a light around the front camera when face recognition is working, wondering if there is anyway to keep that flashing as a notification?
I'm in love with this phone, but I have not decided to take this yet because I'm afraid that the battery won't last so much. For those who already have it, are you ok with battery? I really love 120 hz display and i don't want to downscale to 60 hz everytime to save battery.
I have been testing the battery and I get 6.5 hours SOT with 120 Hertz refresh rate......9 hours with 60 Hertz.....and I have an exonys version....as should be better I guess
With normal usage (exynos variant) i can get throughout the day with 30-40% by the end of the day, with high usage 15% at the end of the day - no accidental touches possibly due to having spigen case, only downside for me is google pay working very inconsistently - tried same store twice, once worked straight away the other time didnt at all - hopefully it will get fixed within future updates... other than that highly recommend (moved from iphone x)
The onehand operation is really nice, but you might want to try the good lock, which basically collects all good Samsung-customized tool apps in one place including this one. Still no idea why Samsung don't preload it, or at least they should introduce during introduction in the least
@@Rem0n89 not only battery. Watch the video of whoisboss. You will find how catastrophic the exynos really is. Worse Battery, worse Gaming Performance plus worse camera. It pathetic.
The xynos in the s10 series actually beats the new xynos in single core performance buy a fair amount. I don't know what Samsung did with the newest xynos processor! If anyone reading this is thinking about getting the s20 just get the s10 plus it's actually a better phone. Even Look at the camera comparison videos aswell. Alot of people saying they prefer the s10 photos myself included.
Hey Mike, did you have any problems with random reboots? I've read that it has been quite common on this new phone and that Samsung was addressing the issue.

From what I've read and seen after researching this phone was it does take normal videos, unless you choose otherwise. However, the file size for 8k videos are pretty big.
I apologize if this is misinformation but I really hope this is of some assistance to you.
Have a great day.....or night....
😊
Very helpful for me after getting this thing just this week. Some of the features are incredible.
7:16 what is that?
Is live caption and screen recorder on the phone?
2:35 thankfully I have large hands so thats not much of an issue. Though I would've preferred it by 6.5" and a little wider.
Monica
I just got it, because 1) the price was less than the note 10+ even with the discount 2) i get another phone, a tablet, and a memory card to go with my purchase of s20+
So far im ok with it, im still getting used to the full screen experience, and the many functions.
Same. Might get the S10 lite and wait for another couple years til the second gen amd SoCs
@@SgtBatten yeah I'm just annoyed from Samsung for doing this so I might just buy a phone from another brand
@@skycore7515 it's a tough one.
@@SgtBatten yeah it is 😕
not just the battery life, the cpu temperature, the performance overall, the photo quality is better for snapdragon version!
I'm going to choose between s20 and s20 plus today and really need help. I would like to See the same video for s20.. Hope you have it
Your videos on the S20+ are wonderful and helped me decide to go with it as a replacement for my dying Pixel 3. Thank you
This is great, as I have found out that a lot of the cool features you mention are also in my S7 and I did not even know. Still love the heaps of new stuff you showed for the S20. Did not know about the Dex. Big plus for me and I might end up getting an S20
Is yours the one with the snapdragon?
Yep. I have the snapdragon version
I have the S20 and am very happy with it. I have noticed one real mistake so far: When I take a photo in 4:3 64MP mode, the S20 sometimes gives me pixel mud. Samsung still has to improve the software.
Thought it was just mine
Does the S20 has the "my filter" feature or just the -plus one?
They both have it!
@@MikeOBrienMedia apparently the Z Flip, Note10, Fold, and S10 series has that feature as well
Edge Touch......awesome. I've just downloaded it and it's fantastic. Thanks for the heads up mate and for the great vid. Sub'd
Is ur phone Exynos one or the SD one?
SD
Amazing video!!! You literally saved my life with that one handed operation app!!
It's quite useful
1:35 and we get the first Pro/Con. Love the intro.
I think you deserve way more subs. I will definitely subscribe.
LED notification has been gone for two years now lol
You didn't link the cases you were talking about?
@@pankajbadola3406 yo.. 120 hz and still more than 6hrs?you use Power saving or something like that to save The autonomy of battery?
@@yaqoublewatermelon80 you use Power saving or something like that to save The autonomy of battery?
The onehand operation is really nice, but you might want to try the good lock, which basically collects all good Samsung-customized tool apps in one place including this one. Still no idea why Samsung don't preload it, or at least they should introduce during introduction in the least
Just got my S20+ and I have very small hands. What is the name of the app you used? One Hand Operation Plus? Is that available in the play store?
Question, your version is Snapdragon?
Anybody else noticed the glitch at 7:16?
Excellent list of tips
Loved the filter one
Im using this beast for 2 weeks (exynos)
To be frank battery life is pretty bad .
I guess snapdragon version is good.
Me too it's annoying !
I had hoped for a better result indeed
Yes battery life is bad with the exynos ☹
@@Rem0n89 not only battery. Watch the video of whoisboss. You will find how catastrophic the exynos really is. Worse Battery, worse Gaming Performance plus worse camera. It pathetic.
The xynos in the s10 series actually beats the new xynos in single core performance buy a fair amount. I don't know what Samsung did with the newest xynos processor! If anyone reading this is thinking about getting the s20 just get the s10 plus it's actually a better phone. Even Look at the camera comparison videos aswell. Alot of people saying they prefer the s10 photos myself included.
I'm going to buy this phone tomorrow thanks for your reviews!
I'm bouncing between a s20+ and just a s10+
What’d you choose?
👀👀
Hey Mike, did you have any problems with random reboots? I've read that it has been quite common on this new phone and that Samsung was addressing the issue.
This was a great video. 😁
Thanks!
I liked your video and the wallp. Where could I get it?
