this is the way hot chocolate is made in Colombia to this day , a very similar pot and wooden mixer thing is found in every home 💕 just made the nerd me very happy
That is so awesome! I had no idea this tradition conditioned on there, uninterrupted, for all those years! ¡Gracias, antiguas mesoamericanas, por el regalo del chocolate!!
The tea cups in the 18th century did not have handles and they actually mixed the liquid, usually tea, in the cup then poured it into the saucers, which were more like small bowls, and drank from that!
imagine if george washington walks into a supermarket and tried a hershey bar george washington: i'll take everything that you have. pulls out a bag of gold coins.
I love chocolate. I love my Great Uncle George Washington. I even look like George Washington, but I am a woman. I really don't like that! That I look exactly like him, not that I'm a woman. I like being a woman.
Chocolate is grown and produce in. Africa, etc, during George Washington times and slavery, it was our people that picked and did the labor. George Washington was just like any other slave owner, didnt give a damn about owning human beings, when two to three or more slaves ran away frim his estate, he put out ads and track them down.
Chocolate from Africa? LOL. And your rant about Washington owning slaves is utterly ridiculous. This video is about chocolate not the horrors of slave ownership. Stop that nonsense, it's OK to talk about different aspects of history especially when they address his slave ownership elsewhere.
Chocolate comes from America, not Africa. Chocolate wasn't known before America was found. And besides, George Washington changed his views about slavery in his old days. It was challenging to him because of his family background and his dependence on slaves, it was still a progress.
Fascinating! Love seeing the reenactors sharing their knowledge. Now, off to make a cup of hot chocolate!
I was lucky enough to see this process at Mount Vernon when I visited a few years ago.

I honestly believed that chocolate wasn't available in the United States until the 1800's.
Thank you that was amazing! I will be thinking about this stuff the next time I eat chocolate. :)
wow yummy i love chocolate it is so good
Very informative
Washington should have grown cocoa beans at Mt. Vernon and made his own chocolate, he could have had another cash crop.
I do not think cocoa could have possibly grown in the climate of the Mount Vernon area.

Do you have comments about yourself in how do you do that for being a lady and the first comic how do you know how about this story about
Martha Washington did NOT look like the Martha in this production at all.
Looks like the Chocolate plant is faced with diseases. Chocolate might not survive. Eaglegards 🦅...
Chocolate? Did you say chocolate?
I've had sugarless chocolate. No thanks.
So North Americans could add milk to their chocolate, but not chillies? Sacrilege!
I’m surprised this form of chocolate wasn’t enslaved as well...😐 Thank you for the informative video!
