If you stow the main halyard in a nice circle it will always have twists in it. Holding it and making loops in your hand the line will hang in circle eights which eliminates the kinks. So I’ve been told and it seems to be true in practice. Cheers 🥂
Thanks again for a great episode! You both look more relaxed and happy. It's good to see you getting comfortable with your boat. Thanks for letting me tag along. 😊
I love your boat. The large shaded cockpit and the salon layout is great. Very full time livable. The learning curve has been steep but I’m guessing before long you will overcome all. Enjoy!
What a delightful episode. It is so good to see the two of you settling in to your Catamaran. I do hope you have a chance to return to Koh Mak and Koh Kood. there is so much more to see and do in that region!!! Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
*Thank you for the update you guys control the timeline whenever no pressure it comes when it comes.Excellent improvement Terysa, letting yourself be in the moment and love your commentary with no pressured timelines even a dip nice.*
I enjoy your videos and appreciate them being posted early in the week. I don't know what it is about the two of you, but I like you a lot! Thanks for sharing!
I work with an orphanage and safe-house for street kids in Pattaya. If you ever want to visit them to see some amazing kids that will inspire you, let me know. Happy to set that up. If you'd be willing to donate your dentistry services, I know they'd be deeply grateful as well. Safe travels!
Try hoisting the main with your mailsail track free to move from side to side. This will give you some more degrees of slack. Alternatively just release your mainsheet
Hoisting the main: You might try holding the boat about 5 degrees off dead up wind. This will keep the sail clear of the back stay but not so much as to allow it to fill. Same true of lazy jacks. Enjoying your channel and adventure.
You may find it’s easier to lift the main by adding a couple more knots of headway and setting the auto pilot to 0deg wind this will keep you headed directly into the wind and clear the lazy jacks as you raise. This is how always raise mine . Don’t know if you have a downhaul but it’s needed sometimes if the rising wind doesn’t allow a safe depowering of the main. Love watching your coming to grips with the transition from mono to cat.
Why not use your autopilot and wind sensor when raising the main? The autopilot can hold your heading relative to the wind. And it does it better than we can. Worked a charm on our last charter cat.
Hi Guys, I noticed you had the mainsheet tight when raising the mainsail, this makes it more tricky to hold it into the wind and not catch the lazy jacks on the battens. On my 1160 I loosen the mainsheet so the boom swings with the wind so it's easier to raise.
This episode was worth the wait! Lovely to sail with you. I’m no cat rigging expert but you leeward shrouds seem slack. On my monohull, I would not expect that much slap.
For some reason I expected you to use the electric motor, especially for such a short journey. A bar at the mast head to extend the topping lift away from the leech might be a good enhancement. Clearly catamarans make people happy 😊
The smile per mile ratio is increasing, and that is a good thing. Happy you guys are getting settled. The boat is stunning, and I still can't get over those sails...what an incredible sight she is.
Nice video. I wish to see how you live in the boat. cooking, dish washing, relaxing at night, How you watch TV or internet or movie.. how is the shower going and the toilet working (without being actually used haha). What is the sound in the hull while at sea. Basically what it feels to spend time in it. Thanks
Fair winds from New Zealand. I'm circumnavigating on a Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 and am 17,000 nautical miles in.... Glad you joined the cat world! I'm predominately sailing solo and found that setting my autopilot to the apparent wind setting of 0 degrees and low rpm allows me to raise the main past the lazy jacks and I make a 5 degree adjustment to shift the main on either side of the topping lift (depending on the intended direction). Once the main has cleared the topping lift, I adjust the apparent wind direction back to 0 until the main is at the intended full position (depending on the desired reef). This helps tremendously especially sailing solo..... Cheers Brice SV Sabre II
I think we should collectively take a moment to appreciate camera moves for the footage we are getting. Blowing it out of the park as always you two. Thank you for taking all us subs along on your wonderful adventures. I really do appreciate you. 🎉❤
Wonderful to see you both looking relaxed and enoying it all again. It is funny isn't it............. no matter how much you try to just "be"........ there is always something to make you "hurry up"!! One day................. one day........... or is it "someday"..........
Thank you for a very restful episode; it's great to see you working the kinks out and settling in! Your shots of each other wielding cameras is insightful; it gives us a hint of how much work goes into filming--and how annoying it might get!
You're getting there! a couple of advice I've found useful during my 20 years of cat sailing when it comes to hoisting the main. When going to windward slowely use the engine controls only to adjust the the direction. Another way is to have more speed when hoisting thus make the helming easier and the sail will not go from side to side. Use bungees from the lazy jack lines to the shroud preventing the battens to get caugth in the lines. Good luck on your adventures! As always looking forward the dry brith humour and Aussie sweetness.
That filming spot in front of the forward windows would be where you’d find me. I get terribly sea sick so that’s my favourite spot in any weather ☀️ 🌊 ⛈️ glad you guys had beautiful weather that day though. Great video thanks guys ❤
LOL my best friend is from Thailand and said she’d be happy to help you with the pronunciation of the locations you visit while in Thailand. On a positive note I’m extremely happy to see you guys are enjoying your new boat. It’s beautiful. Reach out if you want her assistance. 😂
My husband and I are staying on a beautiful beach in Mexico where lots of huge boats bring other tourists to spend the day at anchor just off the beach. Many of the boats are large catamarans and so I was thinking about you and Nick as well as the Wynns this week while on vacation.
Glad to see you two enjoying the day. Possible thoughts about the sail visibility...could you get some permanent mount small cameras and build a closed circuit system with a monitor in the cockpit?
For raising the main, if you have the engines on and in gear, not reving, you should be able to put the autopilot into wind following head to wind. The prop wash forward should be enough to let the autopilot keep the angle without the boat really going anywhere. Et voila, you have an extra hand for sail handling.
I love your honest posts of life on the sea. Nick and Terysa are the one couple that doesn't amp up silly things to attract viewers. I see that as silly and a bit dishonest. That is not the real life of sailing. Your channel gives a much more honest view of the way life is on a sailboat. Thank you.
"Overdrive" assuming this is a propeller setting likely better for higher boat speed...normally for motor sailing when getting more drive from the sails.... If only doing 4.5kts on one engine, normal propeller pitch likely better suited.
What's with these short form videos? We want a longer show filled with Tereysa's skills on camera and helm, and of course, Nick's witticisms and sailing insights. More, more, more! But far be it for me to tell you what to do, so you guys do you guys and leave us wanting more. It"s a good strategy, after all. Definitely like that you're both relaxing while sailing and anchoring. Well done!
What a great catamaran - loving it more each time we watch. Tereysa, you should get a sponsorship from an Aussie swimwear company - we do not see you enough in cosies and straw hats! ❤❤
Love your work guys! Hey Nick, you need to shock cord those stays so they don't flog around on windward passages. Is there anymore warranty work to be done asap? Fair 💨's and Following 🌊's.
The O'Kelly's just did a great video on moving to a performance cat and I wonder if some of the issues you've had reflect their comments. One issue for the viewers its a bit difficult to judge if all the challenges came in a week or reflect months of them. Glad its now settling down and you can enjoy the sailing element.
Glad that you seem more relaxed. I was starting to think you didn’t like each other! I’m trying to figure out where you’re going. Will you please spell it for me. I’m failing miserably. 😅
You seem to have problems getting the sails up and down on RR2. Why don't you do a sail management comparison between RR1 and RR2? any reason you don't use a walkie talkie system to communicate when one of you is on the bow for anchoring, etc.?
If you stow the main halyard in a nice circle it will always have twists in it. Holding it and making loops in your hand the line will hang in circle eights which eliminates the kinks. So I’ve been told and it seems to be true in practice. Cheers 🥂

Fantastic. I've honestly forgotten how calm and charming you guys are when you're not battling the Universe. A welcome return to form.
😂😅
Gorgeous scenery, so looking forward to all the island hopping.
It is great to see you two sailing again.

What a nice interlude in my day. Thank you.
Always happy see you post a new video! Glad to hear your adapting to Cat Life!
Glad to see you have got things in hand. Nice episode, thank you. You have so much space on RR2!
You two look so relaxed and happy on this sail.
Imagine that... Happy and chill beating upwind!!!
Lovely to see.
You guys are just fun to watch. One of the most realistic sail channels out there. Take care.
So good to see you recharging after the past few years you have had.
I work with an orphanage and safe-house for street kids in Pattaya. If you ever want to visit them to see some amazing kids that will inspire you, let me know. Happy to set that up. If you'd be willing to donate your dentistry services, I know they'd be deeply grateful as well. Safe travels!
Nice relaxing video. Great to see you both settling in to your new home.
The lazy shrouds look quite loose while you are sailing. If you have the opportunity to have the shroud tension checked sometime soon, I recommend it.
Very happy y'all are getting use to her.
I absolutely adore Koh Chang it’s beautiful. Especially again now that the Gvrt has stepped back in.
Try hoisting the main with your mailsail track free to move from side to side. This will give you some more degrees of slack. Alternatively just release your mainsheet
This, plus I use the autopilot to hold 0° AWA when I’m single handing my Aura 51.
Love watching these day in the life episodes!
Hoisting the main: You might try holding the boat about 5 degrees off dead up wind. This will keep the sail clear of the back stay but not so much as to allow it to fill. Same true of lazy jacks.
Enjoying your channel and adventure.
All is settling down with the new boat for you two 🎉
So glad to see your smiling faces
Nick , thank you both for carrying that blasted camera around , I'm sure it's a pain so thank you , in each shot is a work of the Lord behind you
You two live a charmed life for sure! I don't think I could ever be a sailor in this life but I sure enjoy watching your adventures.
I loosen one side of the lazy jacks, gather and clip them forward. This provides a much larger slot to bring up the main.
You seem to be getting the hang of Ruby Rose 2, great to see relaxing and enjoying the life style.

I find sailing youtube video entertaining when there is a sense of purpose. Usually thats travel, but it may be even building a boat in a barn.
Why not use your autopilot and wind sensor when raising the main? The autopilot can hold your heading relative to the wind. And it does it better than we can. Worked a charm on our last charter cat.

Seems like you both are adapting to the new RR2 and the comfort it provides.
This episode was worth the wait! Lovely to sail with you. I’m no cat rigging expert but you leeward shrouds seem slack. On my monohull, I would not expect that much slap.
Another very enjoyable video. Thank you for making them!🎉
For some reason I expected you to use the electric motor, especially for such a short journey.

Loving you being back on the water! Got my ASA104 and 114 this summer. I might get to live on the water sometime too!
Thanks for a nice relaxing sail.
Great to see you finally enjoying it!
(although the videos when Nick was living in the factory were fascinating)
I need a yacht...
The smile per mile ratio is increasing, and that is a good thing. Happy you guys are getting settled. The boat is stunning, and I still can't get over those sails...what an incredible sight she is.

Nick needs an electric winch for that dinghey
What a nice sail, sunshine, warm temps. Just what i need with the 35 degree (1 C) and snow here.
Have you tried easing the mainsheet before hoisting the mainsail? The main might go up easier.

Fantastic to see your happiness. All swearing and tears are wiped out and you enjoy the ride!!!

Nice! Keep it up. Positive attitude, culture positive results!
I missed you Guys! So Glad that you are Blessed! Sincerely William Oberlander

Love your videos, do more, make them longer!
OMGoodness! I literally heard myself giving the same instructions to my wife when we would raise our main.
A manifold pressure gauge should help you know if you’re in overdrive. The manifold pressure will change for the same RPM when in overdrive.
Glad to see you two enjoying the day. Possible thoughts about the sail visibility...could you get some permanent mount small cameras and build a closed circuit system with a monitor in the cockpit?

nice soundtrack at the end of this video

Groovy episode.
Great video
Love your work guys! Hey Nick, you need to shock cord those stays so they don't flog around on windward passages. Is there anymore warranty work to be done asap? Fair 💨's and Following 🌊's.
Thank you
Nick, I gotta ask? Are trying to break that anchor swivel when you bring in the anchor, so you loose that anchor? Then you can buy a Rockna or Mantus!
fun times
Escape … ❤ delightful
The O'Kelly's just did a great video on moving to a performance cat and I wonder if some of the issues you've had reflect their comments. One issue for the viewers its a bit difficult to judge if all the challenges came in a week or reflect months of them. Glad its now settling down and you can enjoy the sailing element.
great sailing content, I love the amount of cover you have from your hard top, challenge to see the sails I suppose but very healthy for you
Do you think if you let your sheet loose when raising the main it would not be so critical head to wind just a thought
Glad that you seem more relaxed. I was starting to think you didn’t like each other! I’m trying to figure out where you’re going. Will you please spell it for me. I’m failing miserably. 😅
Love your new home. ❤
Is that right for the leeward shrouds to be flopping around loose so much at about 8:25 in only a mild breeze
You seem to have problems getting the sails up and down on RR2. Why don't you do a sail management comparison between RR1 and RR2? any reason you don't use a walkie talkie system to communicate when one of you is on the bow for anchoring, etc.?
You can order a Rocka 33 kg Vulcan anchor for $1250 and never worry about anchoring again..
Chromox need to sponsor you guys!
Do you guys have any plans to meet up with Nikki and Jason or La Vagabond while all are in that general area?
looks very complicated to handle main sail, not visible directly from the helm as in many boats, not possible to do it in one person safely.
Does Nick have trouble getting it up?
Absolutely everything has the hand of God in it
He’s in the back round looking at his phone, thinking about his time alone in Vietnam
Medicine or Dentistry. This illustrates nicely one of my poorer life choices! 🤣. Looks idyllic.
hi guys, love your vids
i live in cyprus, give me a shout if your there
👏👏👏
Chang chang changitty chang sha-bop 😂
Just on the visibility, with MFDs being basically like PCs these days, wouldn't having more cameras where you have blind spots be the solution?
Haha. That shot at end of Nick ‘brining up the anchor’ looked more like a mass murder scene 😂
lucky? nah...intentional inspired choices. ❤
Free off your mainsheet when hoisting?
