2:47 Not sure the remote community first need is to watch UA-cam in 8k. So the connection can be shared will the neighbours, just by sharing the wifi. With just 10 families sharing the service, it would costs 60 USD for the hardware and 4,3 USD per month for the connectivity. Not to mention the connection can be used by computers and phones so potentially some saving on phone subscriptions. And honestly, if it is just for browsing the internet and emails (no streaming) the bandship is enough for a small village. So I would say that Starlink does give access to everybody everywhere, but it may imply some local goodwill.
Yes Didier, their priority won’t be watching 8k video. And a level of community pooling will definitely make this more feasible. I think a government could probably execute this better on behalf of the citizens. Ultimately, it will be simple but not easy. Thanks for stopping by 😁
In the remote rural area they are facing financial challenges to buy personal Starlink service. But also they are not heavy bandwidth consumers. Therefore a community shared Starlink Antenna can still be affordable or rural Internet Cafe affordable
Hmm, thing is though the router for Starlink isn’t really able to stretch across even 3 houses so practicing this will be difficult. But yeah you’re right, an Internet cafe is an immediate short term solution 👌🏾
Straight to the point review, good audio/video quality in general. My little advice would be, to always cite the owner of any song you use in your videos, especially here in UA-cam.

Great video, first time am watching your video... From what i have read on starlink website and other places online, in U.S you can't use your starlinks outside 15km radius of your residential address but your video just proved otherwise... Question: does this mean I can use my starlink anywhere besides my registered address?
Really good question! So it’s a Yes and No tbh. You can use your Starlink anywhere you’d just have to change the registered address or pay for a portability feature if you don’t wanna have to constantly change that
@@DamiShinkaiye oh nice that means each time I want to use the device in different location I will just change address right ? Are there fees, is there any restrictions like you can only change address once a month?
about pricing in some countries i agree. but keep in mind you could share the internet easy with others and share the bill. like 5 ppl together and still get double the speed if all uses it at the same time. only thing i seen was ping, 100ms is a big one. in my country i got a 25-35ms ping with starlink and download of 350mbits which is fantastic
You’re right, splitting costs definitely helps. 350 is also an amazing speed, but not necessary for most tasks. Starlink’s messaging implies that it provides internet to remote and rural locations across the globe, but it’s pricing may be too high for the lower income residents that actually live in these places. It may be more affordable for urban areas, but these areas have a lot more ISP options. Ultimately, using Starlink depends on the importance of fast internet and one’s budget. So for the people the company’s messaging is about, it will need to be more affordable for true adoption 😅
@@DamiShinkaiye well to be fair it provide fast internet anywhere. Price is the thing but as said, can be split. Thanks John! All your points about shared spaces are valid, however it’s worth it to think of just how far one Starlink modem’s reach is. The main point I was trying to drive across was that someone living in a rural area isn’t likely making a lot of money, and if this technology is to truly scale it will need to be more affordable. Not just for individuals themselves to be able to purchase it, but in the event that governments or corporations were to invest in CSR initiatives, this could be an effective solution. For context the MTN 5G modem costs 50,000 naira ($70) and still offers very good speeds. For a lot of people it’ll be difficult to make sense of an almost 9x difference at whatever speeds. I’ve got a couple more videos coming! Thanks for your question John, I hope I see another in a future video. 😅
Hi, Dami People aren’t stuck with the Starlink router. They can use another if they like. Starlink will try to give you the best speeds at your service address. So best thing will be to change your service address when you get it. In order to make it work everywhere you’ll have to pay for a portability feature, that will take cost around $11 a month. It took 2 weeks, but I’ve heard wait times have since increased. On the hardware side, they have been selling at a loss. Maybe in the future, when hardware costs decrease further, hardware prices will also decrease. As for service fees, $43/month is the lowest in the world, only 1/3 of those in developed countries. However, providing services to Africa has almost no cost for Starlink because there are too few users and a lot of bandwidth, and not using it would be a waste. I believe there is still room for service fees to decrease.
Yes I believe so too, early stages and all. Maybe they’re testing that whole “Rich subsidize affordability” model that worked at Tesla. Only time will tell. Outside of price is there anything else you’d have Elon do?

@@DamiShinkaiye I think lowering the price is enough. But I doubt Starlink will do this in the near future.
@@wsy987 We'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for your comments 🙏🏾
