As Coach Tom Allsopp regarding the way he approaches the issue of Tennis/body, namely listening to our body and dancing in a harmonious and relaxed way while executing the various strokes that make up Tennis is without any doubt the best of all. I understand Tom's speech exactly and it makes perfect sense to me, because as I was born with the gift of coordination (playing football, riding a bike, jumping, skating, swimming, dancing, etc etc.), the way he teaches Tennis and makes us aware of his approach is a tremendous help for anyone who wants to play better tennis I've said it several times, I had a tremendous problem with my forehand for many years and it was watching Tom's video that I surprisingly solved that issue and now I hit the forehand easily and harmoniously. That's why I love Tom and his TPA Channel.
Showed me where I have been going wrong, So much information to digest I had to watched it 3 times, in a row, to take most of the information in. Thank you so much.
Great advice on footwork. The most important thing you said was slow down and allow your body to tell you what’s right. Of course if you’re doing something totally wrong an outside eye or your own video analysis needs to be done. But a reasonably athletic person, especially who doesn’t have ingrained bad habits, can benefit a lot from this. Thank you! Slow down and do it many, many times in low/no pressure practice sessions, just like anything else.
I like this videos and others. I’m hitting the ball cleaner and with so much more power, especially releasing the wrist. The issue now is trying to control the power to keep the ball in. Maybe a video on hitting the ball harder, controlling power and keep the ball in the court without having to back off.
Thank you coach. Two days ago I met a coach he taught me to lock my legs when hitting the balls. I am telling you was hurt so bad. My hip and body are shaking after hitting. Today I went around the internet, I watched your video and I would like to say thanks for your teaching and I hope I keep to old way I used to do legs moving and weight transfer. I will add some of your concept intermixing it's going to be great
It’s almost as if the hyper focus on mechanics is antithetical to the equally important fundamental of footwork and positioning. Trying to hit hard and perfect equals concrete feet. If the feet are to be light, the stroke must be light, if the stroke is tense, the feet are tense - the key is hitting light but with decent power.
This concept is what keeps me from being more consistent...I am always so concerned with getting back into position that I often do not allow myself to "sell out" and finish the shot. For example, I usually play the ad side in doubles and when the server hits a T serve, I find myself trying to both hit the forehand and also pull back to the left to get back into position. If I allow myself to lunge (dynamically) at the forehand and to land with my momentum going right onto the right foot, I usually strike it pretty clean and make a strong return...but my instinct to get back often overrides and I don't allow this dynamic lunge to fully execute and a mishit ensues!
The solution is simple, forget you have the racket in your hand. That way your body would just do what it needed to stay balanced in an unconscious and coordinated way. The problem is the racket in our hands and not Tom's concept.
Sounds like your concern to get back in position is causing you to rush..tell yourself to calm down a bit and finish and allow the body to breathe and naturally rotate.
I’m wondering if you focused only on one thing firmly: “be balanced with a wide base at all times”, would your body be able to figure out what to do by itself?
My PT said that the major cause of lower back conditions and injuries on that (FH) side occurs when not bringing that hitting side leg forward. Creates alot of stress on that side. Ouch!
No, Tom, you are correct, THE BELL NOTIFICATION DOESN'T WORK ON THIS YOUR CHANNEL. Though it's supposed to be. Hope UA-cam would fix it. Good luck. Omar )))
complex topic with a bit too complex explanation than usual, your super power is always make thing simple (but not easy). many coaches just use the word "naturally" to not explain things clearly....your video usually has less...still the best coach on YT though.
The vid is not necessary only to RF, Djoker and Rafa. For all others ATP, WTA and amateurs all levels this vid IS A MUST.
Epic video! One of your best.
This is some of the best tennis instruction on UA-cam.
damn that point by fed you clipped was money. crazy footwork adjustments 👌
Tom, you're the best dancer on the TennisTube!
And the over one I know who talks about the importance of "the free leg."
Super helpful. Keep dancing!

Good freestyle Tom. I like your focus on recovery and balance as these two things are the key to improving footwork most naturally IMO
Bell is working for me. Great lesson Tom?

I think all your lessons and advice are great.
i keep coming back to this video for the explanations about what happens with the whole body as we try to hit. like your humor too 😀

"sell out"... not sure I understand why you'd use that wording. Thanks for the comment
@@TomAllsopp probably a poor choice of words…”fully commit” is a better way to describe it

it's a pretty good one thought

4:00 play with dominant leg, Do not play with both leg
I am. I don’t understand your comment
I'm a terrible dancer it seems 😂😂😂
Like ... I have sub'd but I cannot activate the bell
this is getting into click bait territory😮💨
Not really. It’s the best way to improve your ball control and consistency that I know, aside from decision making.
