Thanks for sharing! Sad about the future of these atolls as the sea devourse it slowly. Hope a solution to the preservation of them arises soon! God Bless!!!
I wonder why they don’t plant mangroves. They could retain sediment and over time even raise the land level but in any case protect the land from being washed away.
I'm sure there would be other villages between Abaokoro and Buariki. It would have been cool to name each village as you approach them. Also next time you visit the place and drive through again, in between villages when you see people walking in the same direction you are speeding to, stop and ask them if they would like a lift to their final destinations. Simple helping acts goes a long way in the world of public relations with the indigenous inhabitants. I do that in every place that I've visited and during times when I needed help, the people took me in and accommodated me kindly.
it would be super awesome if you include the names of the towns or village you drove pass. 🤗 but other than that i thank you for such an amazing video.
thx John 01 , probably is not an amazing video, rather kind of documentary.... I pity that my recording did not show the better part of the 2H drive one way. First village is Abaokoro and I could quote next ones only by looking at the map :-) . last one should be somewhere in the middle between Abaokoro and Buariki/Naa , maybe Nuatabu if I look at the map :-)
this should be Abaokoro, what is on 2:13 I dont know, if it is school then most likely not primary, have seen a few. There was supposed to be a 'guest house' somewhere there as well as some administrative offices.... I was there on vacation, mainly South Tarawa and two nights North -> to see a place before it sinks (now I have feeling it will never sink)
awesome man.. i gotta be honest i grew up in Abaokoro its been a decade now since i left and some of these places are hard to recognize but thanks to you now i got a glimpse of my hometown... :) ... anyways what makes you think that it won't likely sink? and by the way i hope you enjoyed your stay in Kiribati. :)
John 01 nice 😃 well met a few friends and they kept telling nobody believes it will sink.... its been sinking for 50 years now 😜 Kiribati beautiful, much above expectations: views, weather, unspoiled and still undiscovered, or a least I was one of very few visitors.... and great people 😎

GTA 6 is GTA Kiribati or GTA Micronesia 😢 I will keep dreaming 😢
How's your relationship with the federation states of Micronesia by the way? 😊
Didnt see the cemetary where 1000 Marines are buried. Killed fighting for your freedom. Also didnt see the garbage dump they put next to it.
